Why did my pre-order of Spyro the Dragon trilogy get cancelled on PS4?

With “ps4” I assume you pre-ordered the game digitally? In the PS Store?I personally never pre-order games, but I assume it has been cancelled because the game was delayed. If you haven’t recieved your cash back, then i recommend you contact Sony Customer Service ASAP. If you have, either on PSN or in your bank account (its probably the first option) then pre-order the game again, however, you now accept that you will recieve the game 2 months (if i’m correct) later than expected.

If I pre ordered a game on Xbox one using a different email address to the one connected to my console, how can I access the game?

Thanks for the A2A.The easy way out is to peacefully part ways with those £70 and pre-order the game again, but it sounds like that’s what you’re trying to avoid. It’s more of a kludge than a proper solution, but you could create another account on the Xbox and log in with the email you pre-ordered it with. Your main account will recieve access to the game as well, as long as the account owning the game has the system set as its “home Xbox.”[1]Short of doing that, the transaction is not only non-refundable, but non-transferable. The best you can do is contact Microsoft support (which is admittedly a pretty bad experience), and ask them to move it to your main account, or cancel it.Footnotes[1] My Home Xbox Setting on Xbox One

When and why did pre-ordering games first become an option?

Unfortunately I can't give you an exact date, but I remember pre-ordering games for PS1 and PS2 so I would have to guess the concept was introduced sometime during the late 90's/early 2000's. For big console releases it was common for shops to sell out of the game on their opening day. By pre-ordering a game you guaranteed that the shop would keep a copy for you on the release date... which was a weight off your mind when you could only get to the shop to buy it late in the day, but wanted to play it that evening/weekend. Of course most PC games (and console games I believe) are now available via digital distribution services so the need to pre-order to guarantee getting your 'hands on it' is no longer necessary. Many digitally distributed games have a slight discount for pre-ordering which I would assume is to boost initial sales and increase exposure of the brand. Pre-ordering also has the advantage now of you being able to pre-download your game which becomes unlocked at the release time. As with store bought products this allows you to play immediately (without the fear of long download times when it becomes live). In short the 'when' is a little hazy, but the 'why' has always been constant and involves you getting hold of the late releases guaranteed on release day.

Is it cheaper to pre order a game or to buy it after it's released?

In terms of physical game releases, per-ordering is actually more helpful than some think. Big AAA to smaller indie studios planning retail releases need to know how many copies to have made, so those pre-orders help them decide. Some AAA games already have certain big sales targets, so numbers over that end up used as bragging rights by publishers (which becomes a “shipped vs sold” issue that’s worth a post in and of itself). Now, we all know a AAA game these days never seems to “sell out” completely, but demand for popular titles sometimes outstrips availble supply in a few markets. One thing that’s a certainty is with most AAA releases, you’ll see plenty of cheaper used copies show up after a period of time. This statement doesn’t include holidays when hugely popular games shoot up in price for new and used copies thanks to those who need that big gift and will pay more for it.Both big and smaller publishers who don’t see many pre-orders on certain games may only have one run printed, making those games harder to find and thus more in demand later (meaning the price goes up in some places thanks to scarcity).Digital-ONLY pre-ordering has become common but is somewhat unusual because while it’s really not necessary (you don’t “run out” of digital codes for consumers), some titles allow for “pre-loading” games in order for those that pre-ordered to download and play them slightly earlier than those who don’t pre-order. In these cases, some publishers offer discounts and/or digital/physical bonuses to those who can’t wait, but the % off varies wildly from publisher to publisher.Back to cost for a second. If a game is reviewed poorly, in most cases, the asking price (MSRP) may drop fairly quickly for a new copy (whether it be digital or physical). In SOME cases where a game with a low physical print run has received poor reviews, the asking price of the physical version goes UP, but the digital price stays as-is thanks to not many retail copies existing, curious gamers or collectors snapping up all available copies, and a publisher needing to make a profit while they can at the MSRP.

Able to transfer Halo Reach recon helmet to another Xbox 360?

I'm not 100% positive that this will work, but this is something my cousin and I accidentally found out one time when we were playing on my Xbox:

If you play Reach on your father's Xbox and put your account on his (by using the Recover Gamertag option), go to the Armory. If he is playing with you, the Recon helmet should be available for your use.

So what I'm saying is:

1) Get on your dad's Xbox and sign out of his account.
2) Select "Recover Gamertag" and fill everything in. (don't worry, it won't hurt it. I do this all the time. You can recover it back on your Xbox when you're done)
3) Get him to play with you on his Xbox.
4) Go to the Armory
5) Look through the available helmets and Recon should be there.
6) Choose it, and then sign out of your dad's Xbox
7) Go on your Xbox and do the Recover Gamertag process again.

Like I said, I'm not 100% sure that it will work, but my guess would be that it should work.
