Volunteer Work...and Christmas job?
Its almost Chrismas time BP, What volunteer work wah? im sure ur gonna get alot of voluntary or involuntary work coming ur way at home. lol Besides what HF said you can also try NCO. I think they pay like $550 every 2 weeks, However i heard the way they treat their staff isnt the best. but it would only be temp and like a month. Update - Cha that sucks. However, I guess if you really wanted the work expirence you could apply for fulltime then leave when its time to start back uwi. hehe... If your interested in doing volunteer work you could apply at DEM formally known as CERO. http://www.dem.gov.bb/ You can also try applying at the crime stoppers hotline (not sure how that works) or even better the AIDS hotline (if theres still one) as your doing Psy... the exposure would be interesting + it would look great on ur resume.
Would it be bad form to leave work this close to Christmas?
I've been working here part time for 3 years I've worked 12 hour shifts every weekend, bank holiday and holidays like Christmas, boring day, new years etc. This year I feel they have taken advantage, they are short staffed so all the full time staff get there holidays while the casuals work their shifts, I got a 12 hour night shift the 23rd, a 12 hour day shift Christmas day and boxing day and the 27th 29 th and 30th of December, the first week of January is the same bs 6am to 2pm new years day which I had put down not available. I just feel like I'm stupid for doing these hours, I got offered a new job which starts in January and I'm happy I'll be out of my old one. I would love nothing more than to go into my current job and give them all the middle finger and tell them to shove the Christmas roster up their hole. They have also hired more casuals to start in January which means less hours for the people who have covered all the Christmas hours. I'm viewing this from an angry perspective which is why I ask you, I'm not obliged to hand in a standard 2 weeks notice but I would hand in enough until Christmas is over or maybe do Christmas day and say well I'm not doing all that,i have a leg to stand on now. What would you do? As much as the I hate the snakes in there u want to leave on good terms in case I ever need a reference, a friend of mine who left last month was a manager there so if worse came to worse I'd use him as a reference.

How does a busy parent with a full-time job and a family find time to write a book?
I did that!Maybe this question was written with me in mind.Here’s how I managed to write a book while also raising three children and one dog, and working full time.First of all, I only wrote half of a book. Habib Fanny wrote the other half. So that made everything 50% easier right there.I work as an English teacher. That means I have a lot of practice wordsmithing, and I have time to write during the day. It’s called “modeling the behavior” when teachers do it. I write when my students are writing. When I used to teach reading, I read while the students read. It was one of the perks of the job.I have three kids, but one is 18 now and does her own thing. The other two are pretty needy from the time I get them from school until they go to sleep, but they go to sleep two hours before me. I should spend some of those two “me” hours working out, but I spend a lot of that time writing.Patience was critical too. We started that book in late April, and didn’t finish it until Christmas.Anyway, I’m working on another book now. I’m in no rush… I write for fun, not to pay the bills. It will happen when it happens. The lack of pressure helps a lot.
How long do offices in Australia usually close for the Christmas - New Year period?
25th Dec (christmas), 26th Dec (Boxing day) and 1st Jan (New year’s day) are public holidays and every office will be closed - though stores will be usually be closed only on 25th. If any of these 3 days falls on a Sat or Sun, then next working day will be a holiday as compensatory holiday. These are the minimum closures - beyond which every office and business will make their own decisions - after all if your customers are all away on holiday then does not make much sense to keep your set up open.in actual practice, in most calendar situations, if employees take 3 days off they can have a continuous break of about 10 days off from Xmas to New year - and not surprisingly most employees take advantage of this - so offices are much more thinly staffed in this period. Also in Australia - this is the peak holiday period as schools are also closed. Many people visit the northern hemisphere to enjoy a white Christmas (singing about Santa sliding on the ice while weather is a sweltering 40 Celsius is a bit of a downer!)Many smaller stores are closed for much longer periods. Generally the holiday mood dissipates only after Australia Day on 26th Jan - after which everybody actually gets serious!
Does anyone hate Christmas because of all the expectations?

IVE BEEN FEELING JUST LIKE THIS, and to make matters worse, my feelings were confirmed yesterday because already ive been stressing on what to get my family and my fiance's family for xmas and I've come to the conclusion that everybody probably expects us to spend a lot of money on gifts like we did last year however this year i dont think its a safe idea being that we have other things going on in our personal life(another baby due in march ie) and JUST YESTERDAY, My father calls to ask were my fiance and I sending gifts to everybody like we did last year(because we live out of state and sent everybody Coach stuff last year) and we I told him no, he said, "Oh, i was just going to say, you guys to have to "buy" me anything, I was going to say you guys can fix my tractor?!? im like...wow, DID YOU GET ME SOMETHING FOR XMAS THIS YEAR? AND COULD I ASK YOU FOR SOMETHING SO PRICY LIKE TO FIX A DAMN TRACTOR? OR BETTER YET? CAN YOU BUY ME THE GUCCI BABY CARRIER THAT I WANT? its like, I HATE ALL THESE EXPECTATIONS, HONESTLY, I DIDNT REALLY PLAN ON BUYING ANYTHING FOR ANYBODY EXPECT OUR SON BUT NOW IM CONSIDERING JUST SENDING BOTH OF OUR IMMEDIATE FAMILIES EDIBLEARRANGEMENTS(FRUIT BASKETS) and everybody better F****** enjoy!
