What would you write in a letter to someone in jail?
One of my best friends went to jail for possession of drugs like 6 months ago, and his friends/family have been sending him letters, but I don't know. I guess I've been too scared or nervous or something to write to him before like everyone else. Actually I think I was more guilty because while he sits in jail, life without him is moving on. But then I realized he's probably really lonely and bored, and I thought that maybe writing him a letter might make his day a little better somehow and make him happier or feel less alone or something. But I don't know what to write. So much has changed since he got arrested... I don't know how to word anything without seeming too formal and distant. Any advice? What should I write in my letter? Btw, I'm 18 (girl) and he's 19 (boy). Don't know if that changes anything.

My boyfriend is in rehab right now and I have the address for the residential rehab center. I want to write him a letter, but how do I make sure that it gets to him? Despite having so much power, many times, man is pitted against the irony of the life. Those beautiful scrawlings of the Palmer Method cursive alphabet were at the top of every blackboard, all through the grade school years…“Have you ever hand-written a letter and sent it to someone?”* * *The triumph, however, was initiating my god daughter into the graciousness of letter-writing, as born in 1991 cursive was already getting phased out at school.So: around age eight, losing her baby teeth we stuck them under the pillow for the tooth fairy to work her magic. Accumulated a HUGE sum maybe $Seven Dollars here, went to the Dollar Store and picked out LOTS of fancy gifts!Wrapped ’em up, including a card with each one, first just her signature and dictating to me her message, then SHE wanted to try writing the messages too…got longer and longer…I mean, this was high-level, meaningful stuff here!Her uncle so ill at the time, such a lift to receive her gift along with handwritten letter…favourite former school teachers…special friends, grandmother/grandfather…a wonderful time for everyone involved, as this little girl sent out her loving best wishes to all, in cursive no less!
