When Writing A Letter To Someone .

What would you write in a letter to someone in jail?

One of my best friends went to jail for possession of drugs like 6 months ago, and his friends/family have been sending him letters, but I don't know. I guess I've been too scared or nervous or something to write to him before like everyone else. Actually I think I was more guilty because while he sits in jail, life without him is moving on.

But then I realized he's probably really lonely and bored, and I thought that maybe writing him a letter might make his day a little better somehow and make him happier or feel less alone or something. But I don't know what to write. So much has changed since he got arrested... I don't know how to word anything without seeming too formal and distant.

Any advice? What should I write in my letter?

Btw, I'm 18 (girl) and he's 19 (boy). Don't know if that changes anything.

My boyfriend is in rehab right now and I have the address for the residential rehab center. I want to write him a letter, but how do I make sure that it gets to him? Under the line where you right the name of the rehab center, do I write "To: 'Boyfriend's name'" or "Re: 'Boyfriend's name'?"

Please help! Thanks.

Start at the top left of the page
If it's formal address them as 尊敬的 (zun jing de) :
If it's more informal address them as 亲爱的 (qing ai de) :
This is the equivalent of 'Dear'
Then 您好 (nin hao) or 你好 (ni hao) as appropriate.
Then the body of your letter.
At the bottom in the center give your address
If it's formal then towards the right of the page now write 此致 (ci zhi)
Towards the left slightly below write 敬礼 (jing li)
This is the equivalent of 'Yours Sincerely'
If it's informal you can use something like '祝你 (zhu ni) to the right
and to the left 身体健康 (shen ti jian kang)
And then at the bottom right write your name followed by the date.
Their address doesn't appear on the letter, only the envelope.

What should I write in a letter to someone in prison?

This was an interesting question and I thought I should not pass it.Assumption: Your cousin is a good guy, something wrong happened accidentally and that is why he is behind bar. You like him as a person and wants to empathise with him. If the situation is otherwise, please discard the messages below.Dear X,I hope this letter find you in fine fettle. Time passes and so as the memories. But good memories last long and sometimes very difficult to part with.Yes, it has been few years since we talked - May be the right time had not arrived before I could think of dropping you a letter - May be lack of courage to face you behind prison or may be my inability to express myself. But, better late than never. I felt an urge to say you that your association with me or in our family has not been forgotten. You are still discussed and missed like all of us. Your birthdays still bring tears among us, especially me who was close to you.I wish the soon I will see the time, when I can see our old memories reincarnate again and we be like what we used to be.I cannot write much. May God bless you.Yours CousinYLet me tell you, no one in this universe is free from prison. Some are behind the iron bars, which is called prison by human dictionary - rest all are prisoners of laws of universe. Despite having so much power, many times, man is pitted against the irony of the life. Many times, we cannot go beyond the boundaries of human existence - Is not that a prison? If our thoughts can fly and move faster than light, why cannot we?Are not we governed by the laws which stops our speed?Aren’t we governed by compelling circumstances, which mostly don’t be liked by us?Good or bad is very subjective and judgemental concepts - No one can justify what is good or bad. It is upto you to embrace the power of self conscious calls and move forward.

Have you ever hand-written a letter and sent it to someone?

Dear Brian Gitonga,Oh yes indeed I have; for someone born in 1944, that was a given of life! Those beautiful scrawlings of the Palmer Method cursive alphabet were at the top of every blackboard, all through the grade school years…“Have you ever hand-written a letter and sent it to someone?”* * *The triumph, however, was initiating my god daughter into the graciousness of letter-writing, as born in 1991 cursive was already getting phased out at school. So: around age eight, losing her baby teeth we stuck them under the pillow for the tooth fairy to work her magic. Accumulated a HUGE sum maybe $Seven Dollars here, went to the Dollar Store and picked out LOTS of fancy gifts!Wrapped ’em up, including a card with each one, first just her signature and dictating to me her message, then SHE wanted to try writing the messages too…got longer and longer…I mean, this was high-level, meaningful stuff here! Her uncle so ill at the time, such a lift to receive her gift along with handwritten letter…favourite former school teachers…special friends, grandmother/grandfather…a wonderful time for everyone involved, as this little girl sent out her loving best wishes to all, in cursive no less!
