How does the Nordstrom return policy scam work?
It's true, that sometimes employees can be involved. I worked for Nordstrom for 6 yrs..We had one employee who was putting cash value onto gift cards, and hiding them in the register until the end of the night, then she would take them out, and head over to the rack to purchase things..she obtained about 3000 dollars doing that. Another is stolen credit cards, either an employee..or a random person will steal a credit card, and purchase a gift card, and since Nordstrom really doesn't check id's too often..(I always did..tell your friend to do it more too, you wouldn't believe the amount of people she will catch) it's pretty easy to get away with, and they will send their friends back to obtain the cash just in case Nordstrom was watching the first time, and they most likely have that person on camera. People just obtain a credit card number/stolen credit card.., and order, or purchase a gift card..I was helping a women once who was a tourist, a couple of young girls stole her wallet from under her nose, and went and spent 800 dollars in the next department in a matter of 5 min...Tell your friend to talk to the people in loss prevention..I was always friends with them, and they told me pretty much how everything works..what and where it was happening.
Can I return some clothes to Nordstrom Rack if the tag is detattached?
I'm sure you can return them as long as there are no stains on the clothes, which I'm sure there are not, and also, if you are returning them in the length of time that is consistent with their return policy. I can't tell you that but you can look it up online. It is probably two weeks to one month. You should bring your receipt also. That is probably necessary. If you don't have your store receipt anymore, and if you bought it with a credit card, look online for your statement that shows the purchase. You need some proof of purchase other than store tags, unless they believe you without a receipt.

Did you actually pay for the item you wish to return? Your sister can do it for you, but I hope she knows the risk she is taking. They may have your name flagged and might wish to question her.

Can you return items to Nordstrom with just the tag, no receipt?
For the items you received as a gift, look at the tags and there should be a small square sticker..(a uii sticker) on the tag, which also acts as a gift receipt. When the cashiers scan it, it will give the info how it was paid, what date, how much..pretty much everything the original receipt would say. You can get it back on the card (if applicable) it was originally purchased on, a gift card or cash. For the shirt, that will be up to the manager, unless you have the credit card you paid for it with, they can also look up transactions that way. However if there is no proof of purchase , they can try to recognize the item, or look it up in their system but if they can't find it (depending on how old it is) then refund you that way, however the case usually is they can't trace it back especially if it was racked already.
Nordstrom Return Policy Cash Back?
had an incident with a punk kid at Nordstrom (location undisclosed) in the Mens sportswear section. My mother had bought me several pair of jeans for graduation and I had enough already so I returned them, they were never worn, I had the receipt, and all tags were on the jeans. So I returned them some of them on Monday and the kid working at the register asked me why i wanted to return them and I told him I didnt need them and I wanted cash back. So he went and gave me cash back. The following day i was in town and i stopped by nordstrom and returned the rest of my jeans and shirts I got from graduation from my mother all with receipt and tags and asked for cash back, in which he said no, "he couldnt give cash back," the day before he had no problem. Keep in mind, I have returned items from other nordstrom locations with no problem whatsover. He went and got the manager and the manager gave me my cash back finally, and said i couldnt get cash back again. I told him I can get cash back as many times as I want aslong as I bring in my receipt, tags and the clothes were never worn. He said no, it will go back on your card only. Now, I want to make sure I am in the right here, I am almost positive, under Nordstrom policies you have the choice what option you want the return in, not the register clerk. Can someone please shed some light into this, thanks.
Can I return/exchange this at Nordstrom?
Nordstrom's the regular store, not the The Rack outlet store is actually unusually nice about returns. You should check to see if there is a barcode from nordstroms stuck to the actual tag on the garment. Most major department stores use those. They basically replace the replace. I asked them once because I didn't have a receipt and they told me that was the receipt. Usually if you pay by credit card, if there is a balance the credit back the card not issue cash. Normally they credit the same method that was originally paid. I would call the store and ask them. The rack is usually considered an outlet, and I am not sure if their purchases are considered final or not.

You can have your refund back in whatever form of tender you would prefer. So if you wanted a check, gift card, cash or credit back onto your debit card, just let the sales employee know. For a cash refund you will probably have to go to Customer Service for it though, as we don't keep fifty dollars in cash in our registers.
