When You Start Exercising Do You Gain Weight At First

When you start exercising, do you first lose weight before you start gaining it?

Weight loss and working out aren't strongly correlated. Instead consider the total amount going into and out of your body. Exercise takes some out, but you will likely eat more to support the activity. Weight Watchers works by creating a system of accounting for this. The answer, therefore, is that you will lose weight if you continue to have a low calorie intake regardless of exercise. If you want to gain weight, eat more. If you work out and build muscle, you'll gain some weight but calories consumed will likely be the dominating factor.

Why am I still gaining weight?

I have been exercising to two videos on Gabriella Whited s YouTube Channel (about 15 minutes of muscle building in the thighs, butt, and stomach) every day without skipping, and I ve been eating a high protein low fat diet for almost 2 weeks now and at the beginning I lost 2 lbs but since then I ve gained 4 lbs of fat and my stomach is 1.5 inches wider??? Am I doing something wrong? This is making me so depressed :(

Why is there an initial weight gain as we start working out?

When you start an exercise program, your body naturally goes through several changes in the first couple months.A new exercise regimen puts stress on your muscle fibers. This causes small micro tears, also known as micro trauma, and some inflammation. Those two conditions in your muscle fibers are the reason you may gain some weight.Your body responds to the micro tears and inflammation in two ways that cause temporary water weight gain. The first is a healing response. That stress and micro-tearing damage to the muscle fibers induces water retention in the body. There may be a small amount of inflammation around the micro tear, and your body retains fluid there to try to heal it.” These are short lived changes in the muscle. You will also most likely experience delayed onset muscle soreness in the 24 to 36 hours after exercising. That is your body’s natural response to those micro muscle tears and the breakdown in muscle tissue. So, don’t overdo. Eat properly and give your muscles the proper amount of rest so they can heal and rebuild.Increased muscle fuel also adds a little weightThe way your body provides energy to the muscles also can add weight at first.Glycogen or sugar that your muscle cells convert to glucose is the energy source for your muscles. When you exercise regularly, your body stores more glycogen to fuel that exercise.Stored in water, glycogen has to bind with water as part of the process to fuel the muscle. That water adds a small amount of weight, too.

Should I gain weight first and start a workout (or simultaneously gain muscle)?

The answer is based on the following assumptions:By workout you mean you’ll be performing some kind of resistance weight training.During the phase (of gaining weight) before starting a workout routine no significant amount of exercise will be performed.Your goal of starting a workout plan is to gain muscles and lose fat.If you gain weight before starting with a workout plan you’ll mainly gain body fat. This defeated the entire purpose of working out.You will be making it harder for yourself to reach your health goals.Low self esteem issues can be a reason why some individuals might have such an attitude. They might be afraid that others will judge them for not being in a good shape.

I eat healthy, exercise but gain weight, can you help me??!?

Even though you might be eating healthy, you might just not be eating right portions...my cousin had the same problem...but i told him that evn if hee eats the healthiest thing you still have to watch your serving. The Food Guide Pyramid is a good place to see how you can cut calories and how many caloreies you need. You need to know what you are eating and how much you are eating now. Then you may be able to cut down on the number of servings or the portions you eat. The Pyramid shows the number of servings and calories according to age and activity. You may not be as active as the person who needs 2,200 or 2,400 calories. So, you might want to cut down on the number of servings you eat in certain food groups. You may also want to check your serving sizes. The extra calories from bigger portion sizes can add up. Check the Food Guide Pyramid to see what counts as a serving. Try measuring the foods you eat in a day, then compare what you've eaten to the Pyramid guidelines. Take a close look at the number and serving sizes of foods you eat in the Fats, Oils and Sweets group. Do you spread a tablespoon or a teaspoon of margarine on your toast? How much oil or lard do you use when you cook? You can use less of these fats and get fewer calories.

You can also cut calories by having an extra serving of starchy foods instead of high calorie fatty foods. Try having a serving of bread, pasta, rice, fruit or vegetable instead of eating fatty foods like snack chips, pastries, processed meats or some cheeses.
You don't have to give up your favorite foods or join an expensive exercise program to stay in shape. Enjoy a variety of foods and fun activities as your goal for a healthy weight.

Why am I gaining weight when working out?

While I don't know your eating habits, you should ensure that calories expended are significantly less than calories taken in. A net expenditure of 450 calories will result in about a 1/8 lb loss.

The muscle comes first. Then your metabolism will increase as it takes more energy to feed muscles.

After about 6 weeks of working out, the changes should start. I've known a woman in your situation who noticed very little change until 12 weeks into the exercise program. Then the pounds melted away very quickly.

Patience and determination are the key.
