Whenever I Type Squares Come Up Instead Of Letters

Why do little squares appear on Facebook instead of letters?

That's means you don't have the correct font or unicode installed in your computer.

Punnett square question?

They are the same. If you recall, the capital letter is traditionally used to denote the dominant gene which is expressed, while the small letter denotes the recessive gene which is repressed. With this in mind, genetic sequences are usually written as such (with the capital letter first) in order for us to easily identify the phenotype (not genotype). It would be easier to spot the pair as well as see if the dominant gene is present or not simply by looking at the starting letters. But hey, you're free to do what you want as long as you understand what you're doing and that you arrive at the correct answer. Enjoy genetics.

How Can I Simply Type a Letter in Windows 8?

While on the start screen just start typing the name of what you want. So switch to the start screen and type wordpad. It will appear just like doing a Google Instant search and all you have to do next is click on it or press the Enter key to run it.

You can also search for files, settings, and control panels in this same way. So if you want to adjust how long it takes before your PC goes to sleep, type power options and it'll appear. It's much faster than drilling down via a hierarchy of folder or menus.

You can also customize the start screen by pinning your favorite programs and unpinning the stuff you don't use/want.

There's also a way to see all the programs installed on your PC. Switch to the start screen and right click, then click all apps. You can do the same thing by pressing Ctrl + Tab while on the start screen.

You can read all about the new features in Windows 8 by opening help and support and clicking "Get started." To open help and support switch to the start screen and type help. It can also be opened by pressing Win + F1.

Quite a few of the start screen apps require a Microsoft Account. If you have a Hotmail, Outlook, or Live email address then sign in using that if it asks.

Oh, and you don't have to buy MS Office if you only use it occasionally. I suggest downloading a free office suite like LibreOffice. It's also compatible with MS Office document formats so you'll be able to take them to work.

I've added some other links that might be useful. Windows XP is 11 years old now and there have been a ton of changes to Windows since then. It might take a while to catch up.

Biology punnett square help!?

Maybe it would help to see this step-by-step.

When you have to make a Punnett square, the first thing to do is see what gametes each parent can make:
A male that's BBFF can only produce one type, BF (technically there are four, the first B with the first F, the first B with the second F, the second B with the first F and the second B with the second F, but all are for the genotype BF). Remember that you have to represent each letter in the gamete so the offspring gets a full set of genetic "instructions". For example, you couldn't have a gamete with only BB, because there's not "instructions" for the wings. Offspring get 1 of each pair of alleles (versions of a gene, such as dominant B or recessive b) from each parent.

A female that's bbff also produces one type of gamete, bf (but there are four ways to get this, as above).

So your Punnett square is:

....|.bf.|.bf.|.bf.|.bf.| <-female's gametes
BF|
BF|
BF|
BF|
^ male's gametes

When you combine the letters from the top and side, keep like letters together and always put an uppercase letter of any pair first (helps you keep track of dominant/recessive traits). All the offspring in this generation have the genotype BbFf.

When you the F2 generation, you cross offspring from the F1. So now your cross is BbFf x BbFf.

Again, you want to find the possible gametes. Because the offspring are heterozygous, use FOIL (First, Outside, Inside, Last) to figure out what they are. For an organism with the genotype BbFf you get:

BF - First letter of each type
Bf - Outside letters of each type
bF - Inside letters
bf - last letters

Both parents have the same genotype, so both produce the same gametes. Now set up This Punnett square:

....|.BF.|,Bf.|.bF.|.bf.|
BF|
Bf|
bF|
bf|

rom here, you just have to fill in the possible offspring by combining the letters from the top and side. There are 16 possibilities, some of which can occur more than once.

How do you stop your keyboard from typing symbols instead of numbers?

Hard to answer with no other keyboard or system information. My first guess would be to check NumLock and Scroll Lock. If that wasn't it, I would make sure your computer is not set for the wrong region. 1. Click Start button>Control Panel>Clock, Language, and Region> Region and Language.2. Click the Location tab, select your location from the list, and then click OK.Sometimes you just need to toggle it on and off. Sometimes you need to remove all but your keyboard layout (for example, if you have both US and UK).Hope that helps!

When a website loads slowly, why do Chinese characters show up sometimes?

This can happen if the server headers either do not include or conflict with the language encoding specified in the HTML, or if the content conflicts with the specified encoding of the web page. In some cases, no encoding is specified at all, and it takes the browser a second to determine the most likely encoding.Example:If I write a page in Russian (Cyrillic) but I say it’s Chinese in the headers, you will see some garbage (nonsense) Chinese characters for an instant before the browser goes into quirks mode and renders the Cyrillic text.Basically, somebody wrote some bad code and your browser is just trying to catch up.The best practice now is to specify UTF-8 (Unicode) and save the files accordingly. In this international world, Unicode is the best way to encode your text, rather then specific encodings for Japanese, Chinese, Cyrillic, Thai, Latin, Hebrew, etc.
