Where Are Candian Video Game Offices

Why does India not make video games?

The video game industry in India is different compared to what it is like in countries like USA, Canada, UK France etc. In India many people pirate games, consoles don't sell a lot. People play only free games on smartphones. So developers don't see potential here. Brain drain is a problem, but it's decreasing. EA, Ubisoft have offices in India. but Many Indian developers make games from a monetary point if view, not quality. Gaming came to India in the 90s. So most gamers are either just out of college or in college or in school.  They don't have any elders who can suggest the game industry as a career option. Gaming isn't a very serious thing in India. Parents buy any game for their children without seeing the ratings. Gaming is equivalent to toys for them. Most parents think anything animated (games included) to be kid stuff. As a result of this negligence 8 year olds are playing god of war and devil may cry. In India, many children are not allowed to buy 40000 rupees consoles, but parents would spend 60k on a pc, cause it doesn't carry the gaming name with it. Children find ways to get free games onto their pc. So they end up playing only a few games, get bored as they grow up and the cut throat competition in India destroys many childhood interests. I am studying to get computer science and become a game designer. What you say about the Indian epics having a lot of potential is true. I'll add some more potential ideas. Jaipur forts. USPS has media mail. Just go to your local USPS office buy a media mail envelop big enough for the game. Seal it up and pay for shipping and give to the clerk.

How do you get to the wardens office on batman arkham asylum?

I just did this section again last night (Playing through on Normal this time).

Exit from where you came in. Retrace your steps using Dr. Young's fingerprints if you have to. I don't want to spoil anything if this is your first play-through (like some others do^^), but once you exit the area, and you get past the next section, you'll wind up in the bell tower of the mansion. Cut the bell rope with a batarang, and the bell will destroy the Security gate blocking the door you have to go through.

In Fallout 3 how do you get to President Eden's office when he asks you to come there?

no no you were going the right way, the order gets sent over the speakers to kill you and you have to fight your way to the office from there. i think it was a few floors up from there, at lease. you should have all your weapons and armour back, so just let er rip. by then, you should have the plasma rifle, which is awesome. also, youre probably wearing the brotherhood power armour, once you have the oppurtunity, drop it for the enclave armour, or better yet the tesla armour, because youll be killing a bunch of guys with it, and you can repair it to the best of your abilities. a couple of times you run into those 3 wheeled robots that are so tough, but theyre on your side for some reason, but be careful because theyre all on your side except a couple of them. at least thats what happened to me....maybe i accicentally shot it and made it turn on me....so be careful not to do that

Why is software so expensive compared to video games?

It comes from the perceived value by the customer.Software you typically need because you have some problem, and you need it solved. E.g. you need security, so you buy an anti-virus. You are a professional artist and you need an efficient editor for digital images - you buy Photoshop. You edit documents and spreadsheets often - you buy MS Office. You develop games seriously - you buy Unity Pro.With games, you can always not play a game and still be fine. Besides, nowadays we have a bloat of games to choose from, and all of them are entertaining to some degree. There is a bulk of older games from 2000s and 1990s which you can grab for free or almost for free. There are tons of f2p games, even free ad-supported games. It’s really rare that you’d want a game so much that paying $60 for it would make any sense to you. Or $20. Or $10. Or even anything at all. Also, with software used in offices (at work), piracy is rarely an option because companies get checked often and will get large fines if caught with pirated software. Maybe half of applications are installed on work computers. With games, largely no one cares what you play at home, so games get pirated more.

I'm a game design student. Should I move to Canada or Europe for the career advantage?

I’d say you’ll have more opportunities in Europe. All studios use English as the working language so, at least for game development, there is almost never a language barrier (though from time-to-time you might find a studio that wants fluent English plus the local language).Germany & the UK have a lot of studios, then France, Benelux and the Nordics. But you’ll find studios in most countries (look up the local IGDA chapters for lists of studios).Canada also has a lot of options but it’s a country of 35 million (approx.) vs about 500 million in the EU. If you have an EU passport or Blue Card, then the EU offers a lot of options. If you would be limited to one country, then I would say either Canada, Germany or the UK would offer the best potential (in no particular order). The best advantage you can get is a foot in the door with one of the larger developers (e.g. EA or Ubi). Having this on your CV will open many doors for you, regardless of where the studio was based.

Why didn't "Hardcore Henry" perform well at the U.S./Canadian box office?

It depends what you mean by "well."  By the standards of a major studio, it did quite poorly. But this movie was released by STX Entertainment. Who? Well, they're a new company, they've released four movies including Hardcore Henry. Their other releases as of this writing have been The Gift, Secret in Their Eyes, and The Boy. Their business plan is to make medium budget films(a niche the studios have largely abandoned) and they have exhibition deals in place with a number of theatrical chains, a tv deal with Showtime, and a home video deal with Universal. Presumably there's some sort of guaranteed buy-in price for the latter two deals. They acquired worldwide rights for Hardcore Henry for $10 million. It grossed ~$5 million in its US/Canada opening weekend. It's unknown what kind of advertising budget they had for this film, but I haven't seen a thing about this movie outside of website articles. Presumably the ad buy for this film was small. So we have a movie that cost $10mil (for worldwide rights, mind, not just US/Canada) opening to $5mil with a limited (at best) advertising budget, and probably some guaranteed income from tv and home video sales(I suspect this will do pretty well as a catalog title).  Without knowing all the figures it's impossible to know how much they need to make to break even on the film. Now, obviously they would have liked to do better with the film. It is not a hit. It was projected to do better than it did. But considering the movie seemed to be largely shot in Russia on GoPro cameras, with no movie stars, $5mil is kind of impressive in my opinion(and that's just the opening weekend in one territory - if it ends up grossing $12-15mil worldwide, I'd say that's a win).  There are dozens of movies released every year, shot on film or with an expensive digital camera, with famous movie stars, that struggle(and usually fail) to get to $5mil gross.I saw the movie myself, and found it pretty enjoyable. There's some interesting stuff in it. But it's a tiny movie and you have to judge it against the standards of tiny movies, and by that standard in my opinion it did okay. I can easily see it turning into a cult movie hit, which is probably more the standard by which it should be judged.
