Black letters on white are always best for general reading and legibility. Letterforms are small graphics and need strong contrast. You will never be wrong following this principle of black on white. I am colourblind to purple (apparently). I don't think I am colourblind to any other colour, is this normal?

Simply, the benefit of a green screen backdrop is that the green background can be changed into anything. The process is also known as chroma-keying. At times even blue screens are used in place of green.The two bright colours 'blue' and 'green' can be detected by the editing software during post production. This is then replaced with a desired background of choice.  If the subjects have anything green on their body then a blue screen will be used and if the subject has something blue we can use green so as to avoid keying out that part on the body because computers only detect colours. If there are both colours used by subject then any bright colour which doesn't involve the subject is used. But just yesterday I listened in on Dr Nadine Chahine's (Monotype UK Director) webinar entitled "Designing for Split-Second Clarity," and she had some pretty insightful data taken from MIT studies she conducted.Along with the important factors of contrast, size (especially for readers past the age of 30), and font (Frutiger outperformed Eurostyle in this case), the unusual advantage of dark on light figure ground relationship made a big difference:This chart (screen-grabbed from her webinar, so I hope I'm not violating any international copyright law) measures some obscure data point based on eye movement during reading which correlates to data-transmission speed from type. White type on a black base (in either font) takes almost 50% more time to process than Black on white— something I would not have guessed.Anyway, if you have a choice of gray, make it light and keep your text dark. This will also help in situations where screens have been set to maximum brightness— a common error that can really decimate the light end of the grayscale spectrum and in many cases, your lovely white type on a soft gray base.Addendum: I think it's rather funny that a readability expert made no discernable distinction between the two font types (both blue dots-- or is that medium blue and medium-dark blue?) for her chart!
