Any New Years Eve Party at TIMES SQUARE?
Most 'parties' have been sold out for quite sometime. Each year, the crowds grow larger and larger on the street. The crowds are unbelievably compact. The 'square' is actually 'full' and crowded by daybreak on the 31st. The LAST time we endured the event, we were back on 7th, almost even with the Sheraton. We could barely see where the ball was, and could hear nothing. This was at 6pm. At 9:30, three drunk Brazilians urinated a lake where we were standing. We departed, with a scolding by the cops, for leaving early. My advice...find a party, far away from the square :-) You'll be glad you did!!
Apartment - NYC etc.?
Honestly, and this is coming from my experience, a bachelors is worth a high school diploma in NYC nowadays. If you want any real chance at a great job off the bat, a Master's Degree should definately be pursued. The competition here is intense! Making a great living off of retail can be challenging to say the least...like i said earlier, alot of competition. The above poster is correct in terms of figuring out what apartment your going to get. I'd say look around for a place no more than $1200/month in rent for starters (if you have a roommate). If no roomie, scour craigslist for shares or studios that are cheap...remember, everyone wants to live here, realtors have the upper hand and apartments that are here today, are gone tommorrow
How to find cheap studio or 1bedroom apartments price $100.00 to $250.00 in Salt Lake City, UT.?
You cant get an apartment for that price without a Sec. 8 voucher. I advise advertising in Craigslist Salt Lake City or anywhere in the vicinity for quicker response. Look for another woman with an apartment or house to let a room. Everything you said in your question I suggest putting it into an ad under Housing Wanted. Check the local pennysaver in your area or online classifieds for rooms to rent. Good luck. If you know of a church I would speak to someone there for advice. Call Social Services at the county and ask for assistance. With a child you should be able to get Welfare or SSI on an emergency basis.
Anyone Live In The Salt Lake City Area?
There are LDS wards everywhere but that doesn't mean you have to be a member of the ward. Every neighborhood has non members in them. It would be very hard to find a neighborhood with only Mormons in it. Only the very uninformed think Utah is only Mormons and they try to convert you all the time. Actually Mormons make very good neighbors. You might want to try Bluffdale (the point of the mountain) that is where the prison is. I doubt there are many Mormons there. I have lived in Utah over 40 years so I know what I am talking about.
New immigrant coming to Halifax and looking for a cheapest place to stay while looking for an apartment.?
It will likely depend on the time of year that you plan to arrive. I would advise arriving after university (Dalhousie, St. Mary's, or MSVU) lets out for the summer. You can rent a room in the dorm. It's cheap and there are a variety of buses that run near campus. Otherwise you would have to look for hostels or renting a room in a motel which could add up. I would advise going online and looking for a sublet, it may solve all of your problems because if you like the room/apt then you could possibly sign a lease once the sublet is up.
