The best list I've come across is Forbes. Mercers do a good list but you have to subscribe and pay a fee to view I think, not sure. 1. Afghanistan 2. Iraq 3. Somalia 4. Pakistan 5. Sudan 6. Yemen 7. Democratic Republic of Congo 8. Guinea 9. Russian Caucasus 10. Nigeria 11. Chad 12. The Sahel 13. Haiti 14. Colombia 15. Zimbabwe To me, this list still has a couple of frustrations. Pakistan and Iraq are dangerous countries, though they're based more on dangers for westerners than overall violence which contradicts the list title. Colombia's more dangerous than Pakistan and it's 10 places lower. Iraq's calmed down hugely, there's no way in hell it's as dangerous as Somalia or DR Congo now. Hilarious. Afghanistan is terrible but I don't think I'm preaching to the choir there! Haiti remains the most dangerous place in the Caribbean and like I was saying, I mostly like the list. Two of the choices aren't countries either but regions. Whatever you do, don't go on crime rates. In most instances it's a case of *the safer the city or country, the more crime is reported*. You can go on *murder* rates - to a point, and it's useless including war zones since they don't (can't) count properly due to the conditions. Entities with huge murder rates but mundane crime rates possibly have more murders than are in the stats (Colombia which is partly war zone and Venezuela certainly do). Those places which have a lot of murders but also high reported crime rates are logically more likely to have accurate murder rates (USA, South Africa). Outside of wars, Honduras and Venezuela lead the world in murder.

May be you are wondering why some Muslims consider them as such but that’s no different than some people in US or Israel seeing all Muslims as terrorists.In general hate and fear are great political tools. To take breaks from the Honduran stress, I could go to El Salvador #4 or Guatemala #5. Those places were work, too. I consulted in El Salvador in 2014. Not a safe place then or now. Don't mention the Nicaraguan border, Panama or Colombia, please. But Honduras was a nightmare. I worked all over Latin America. All of it is bad except for Costa Rica.America is the world's most dangerous country. We are always at war somewhere … acknowledged or not.Russia and the former Soviet Republics are also very dangerous. The Americans fought the Soviet’s proxy, Cuba, in different parts of the world … Central America, the Carribean, and Africa. The Soviets were actively involved in Asia … Vietnam, for example, and North Korea. Americans were even in Russia in the early 1900s as the Russians created the Soviet Union. The Soviets fought border wars in Xinjiang China in the 60s and funded the Islamic insurgency afterwards that sent many fighters to Syria with Daesh last year. In China I said, “America needs China. China needs America. Both of us look over our shoulders at Russia.” The Chinese agreed.So, there is more local danger in Latin America than even Africa.
