Do college students need life insurance?

Do college students need life insurance? If a college student is not saddled with a lot of Student Loan debt and don't have dependents, then your need for life insurance is nonexistent to minimal.Having said that, today's college graduate averages $35,000 of student loan debt. So if your parents would inherit a sizable amount of private student debt (federal student loans are canceled on death ) it may make sense to get a head start with some convertible term life insurance. The cost for a $100,000 (or $250,000 for that matter) term life policy on a healthy 24 year old over 20-30 years would be minimal. Some life insurance agents might suggest that ensuring your insurability into the future is important. There is some validity to that argument, but not at the expense of purchasing Permanent Life Insurance at this stage of life. The primary purpose of Life insurance is provide money for final expenses, lump sum needs and capital for lost income to those who would be dependent on your earning potential. Do college students need life insurance? If those needs exist, then yes. If not, then no.Best regards!
