Is that a good idea?

Are there some internships in Chicago for high school students?

I know no one would like to invest much of their time just to find an internship. So I would like to suggest you, to approach any recruiter agency. Finding work through an agency can be a good choice as recruitment agencies regularly and actively search for work on your behalf, so this, of course, can lighten the burden a bit if you're finding trawling for jobs particularly tiresome, and it can bag you a job quicker than expected . Even I also got my first internship through this only. And I always find it be easy & less time-consuming.Here are a few recruiter agencies who offer internships;UNITED OPTDicemonsterIndeedAccording to my personal experience, I will recommend you to go with UNITED OPT. Has apple ever hired high school students as interns?

Based on Apple's website ( https://www.apple.com/jobs/us/st... ), they do not offer programs for high school students and the earliest you can get one is while doing your undergraduate. The only time I could find them hiring a high school intern was in this article: http://iphone.appleinsider.com/a... . This was a very specific incident and I don't think you would want to replicate it just for an internship... Here's a bit of the article:Paul Houle, who plays football with a school in Massachussetts, said that he checked his heart rate on the Watch after suffering chest and back pain following a practice, according to CBS SF. The Watch claimed his rate was 145 for two hours after practice, which prompted him to go the hospital...News of the incident reached Cook, who called Houle directly to make the job and phone offers.("The Watch" being an Apple watch and Tim Cook personally offered him a summer internship over the phone and an iPhone)Other companies and organizations such as NASA and Microsoft do however offer high school internships. Here's the link to a couple of articles that describe loads of other technology related high school internship opportunities:http://www.thestemnet.com/resour...http://www.hercampus.com/high-sc...Those are just within the first few search results off of Google and you can surely find many more with keywords like "high school technology internships". Hope this helped!

How can a high school student become an intern at Microsoft?

You can definitely get a high school internship at Microsoft - the one contingency however is that you have to be in the Seattle area generally speaking (or at least in Washington). As Jennifer said, the requirements are on the Microsoft website.I'm a high school intern myself this year - and it has been a phenomenal experience. You work on real projects and do legitimate work. High school interns don't get as many perks as the college interns but there's still lots of fun.Getting in is probably pretty difficult - I don't think the actual statistics are published, but from what I've heard about ~400 people apply, ~40 people get interviews, and ~20 get internship offers. But getting in isn't about knowing every programming language or framework or having years of coding experience necessarily. Microsoft more cares about how you've demonstrated a passion and curiosity for technology. The interviews are basically 2 hours (which I promise isn't as daunting as it sounds), and you only spend 1/4 of that time doing anything technical - which likely won't be very difficult. I'd advise maybe looking at some practice interview programming questions before to be prepared. But I was surprised how easy it was and I wasn't some programming expert. They more care about personal skills, how you deal with certain situations, etc. You'll get a lot of hypothetical or experiential questions. But overall, the interviewers are really nice and helpful, and they all know you're in high school. I'm probably rambling a bit - but it isn't impossible to get an internship. Just start out by doing lots of things technology-related and go from there. The other way you might be able to get an internship is if you have connections, but I'm not sure what the technicalities of that are, and you probably need really special connections for that!Good luck
