Where Can I Buy A Band Jacket From The 80

Where is the best place to buy metal band merch?

*This answer has been updated because the site originally linked to is no longer in business*Here are 3 of the main sites that will probably have exactly what you’re looking for:There’s a site called MerchNOW that sells a ton of merch from most of the bands that are currently active. They have a pretty giant selection to choose from and one of my favorite things about it is the fact that they organize the merchandise by label. You can also search by band name.Another great one is called Impericon. They sell more than just metal band merch including streetwear, vinyl bundles, merch packages, and regular clothing. My third personal favorite is Merch Connection. They also sell pretty much everything else the above 2 sites sell.If you visit each 3 and can’t find merch from your favorite band, you could always try visiting their band’s website. Some bands also sell merch directly from their Bandcamp.Usually the merch on Bandcamp is limited edition and/or exclusives that are only available until they run out.Bandcamp is also one of the best places to support the artist/band directly and many of the bands there also have hard copies of their latest (and sometimes past) albums available.Hopefully you’re able to find the bands you’re looking for there. It’s always helpful to the bands to buy their merch so they can keep pumping out the music we love.Happy merch hunting!

What is the name of the 80's jacket that has the strap on the collar and shoulders?

There's a link to a picture of DJ Fashen wearing the jacket. I've been wanting one for a while, but don't know where to start because I don't know what they're called.

What is your favorite 80's keyboard band?

I’m giving my age away here but it has to be……Depeche Mode - edgy, a totally new sound, I did my first floor routine to New Life and Vince Clark on the synth is brilliant but they got a little too dark for me hmmm, no, let’s try..Human League - I was obsessed. So much so that I read everything I could get my hands on. Their best album is League Unlimited and I still play it today. Hmm, favourite though? They got really cheesy No, let’s try..Yazoo - another Vince Clark vehicle with Alison Moyet. Fantastic moody music with her wonderful voice, but not the fave, let’s try….Japan - Oh, my, David Sylvian, drool. Excellent stuff but I didn’t like the oriental style that they got into, so no, not favourite, let’s try….Tears for Fears - brilliant music, they are still one of the best. Fave? No, let’s try…Erasure - Vince Clark entering the concert in a glass swan containing I don’t know how many keyboards and playing multiple keyboards at once. In the same concert a game of Bingo to win their brilliant jackets which were a tribute to Abba, I’ve not had entertainment like it. They’re almost the fave and I still listen to a lot of their tracks.Soft Cell - Marc Almond et al. Another really moody band. Again though, they got a bit dark for me, so that only really leaves.Adam and the Ants. Their range makes them my favourite. They spanned punk into new romantic and managed to do both well. Even cheesy titles like puss in boots are good. Yes, they’re my firm favourites.Sorry for the ramble. Lovely memories though.

What band made the music video with the dinosaurs rockin out during the 80's or 90's?

I checked out the video, not the right one was(not was) this is more of a solid rock base. If I remember correctly, 3 dinosaurs by a chain link fence, dark glasses, leather jackets, one playing a guitar. around the same time as genisis "land of confusion" thanks for your answers.

What else could I add to an 80s room other than bands?

Any artwork by Patrick Nagel. His women are iconic 80s images.

Why did the heavy metal bands of the 80’s disappear when the music remains popular today?

Because the music wasn’t always popular, at least in the US. It was huge here from around 1983 to roughly 1991 and grunge stumbled in and stole away all the fans. The bands began getting dropped like flies from their major label contracts as sales plummeted. Some tried to change with the times, some gave up after putting up a hell of fight, but some, the ones that refused to die or change found themselves alone of the island of misfit hair bands without any means of escape.Suddenly word got to these bands they were still popular in other countries and rafts were dispatched to the island. Around 1998 or ’99 a label called CMC International started signing these bands and released a few records which kept them floating along, and an Italian label called Frontiers did the same, then a couple labels started reissuing some of the long out of print albums, some of which had been getting righteous megabucks on that bay of e and the zon of ama. They said, hey there is still a market for this stuff, let’s get these bands to put out some new shit and throw them on tours. The U.S. pickup in popularity from around ten or so years was mostly a nostalgia thing. Not too many people were buying anything new these bands were releasing, but they were buying the old stuff. The bands were doing well if they’d go out on package tours and try to rekindle those glory days. The fans liked to relive, if only for a few hours the magic of their own glory days that these bands played the soundtrack to. The women teased their hair taller than Verne Troyer and the guys would dig out the denim jacket with the sleeves cut out and all the patches sewn on it and they’d rock harder than Granny at the Bugtussle family reunion. But in some countries, heavy metal of all types was still a money maker. It never really died, in fact. It took awhile but the bands starting putting themselves together and due to the internet the flames spread back to the states and low and behold, a movement of 50 year old guys started buying the new stuff too.So this long, ridiculous story is a scattershot answer to your question. I’ll condense into Mongo terms for those with short attention spans (like me):1983–1991 - Bands good.1991 - 1999 - Bands suck. Bands disappear.1999–2015 - Bands kinda okay, but only old tunes. Bands start to reappear in packs for summer tours.2015-present - People realise bands still good and new tunes might be good too.

Were any famous 1980s metal bands in the United States daring enough to have short hair?

Ahhh! The 80’s where the smell of Aquanet permeated the very essence of life itself. In the 80’s there was a code to how you looked if you were a Metalhead. You wore jeans, a leather jacket, band tees, and you hair as long as you can. It wasn’t until the 90’s that the code started to change. Everybody states that Metallica was the first to cut their hair but they would be wrong. Rob Halford was the only Metal legend that I know who had short hair in the 80’s. Legend has it that he cut his hair because he was getting confused with a pornstar of the same name and look. Later on in the 90’s he shaved his head cause his hair was thinning out something horrible.PS: Phil Anselmo of Pantera shaved his head during Vulgar Display of Power which made him look like a bad-ass. A look I myself adopted til this day.

Big band basic dance steps...any advice?

This weekend, I'll be attending my great uncle's 80th birthday party in Chicago. His children are throwing it, and they're going all out--orchestra, jackets, ties, dresses..the whole nine yards. Uncle Bob's a fan of big band music, so that's gonna be the theme. I'm taking my new girlfiend there, who's kinda shy, but if I knew some old dance moves and were to lead her on the floor, she'd have a lot of fun. And I really, really wanna show her a good time doing something different. Any quick advice on how to dance to the music? I've been listening to old big band music, so I'm learning the songs. I really want to entertain my new sweety! Plus, the older gals from my family will probably want to cut in, too.
