What weapon would an infantry officer carry?
In the US Marine Corps, we generally only carry an M4 and a VHF/UHF radio. Which do I use more? The radio. And while the gunning with my rifle is more fun, as an officer, using the radio is far more useful - coordinating my squads and with adjacent/higher units, coordinating supporting fires (mortars, artillery, close air support), or other support to set the dudes up for most success. We often only-half-joke that the radio is an infantry officer's primary weapon.Sometimes, we also carry an M9.
