Is Clothing in China Cheaper Than The U.S ?
To expand on what others have said - The reason REAL name brand goods are more expensive in China is because name brand products are for Export only. So, in order to sell the real thing in China they have to add an Import Fee. (That explains why a $75 pair of Nikes will cost $115 in China.) As for "fake" name-brand items, you are taking a chance. When you return to the U.S., or where ever you're from, there's a good chance it will be confiscated by your own Customs agents. There's an International concept called "Intellectual Property" to protect the owners of trade-marks, patents, etc., from loss of revenue due to someone stealing the protected ideas or products. In many countries it is considered Theft, therefore not legal for you to own it. You can buy wonderfully cheap clothing in China, but be aware of one thing. "You get what you pay for." If a nice dress, pair of slacks, shirt, shoes, etc., is really cheap then there is usually a reason for it. The manufacturer probably used shoddy materials. One problem I ran across was defective thread (maybe it wasn't manufactured properly, maybe it was decades old stock that had weakened). at any rate, the second time my friend wore the item, all the seams started to open up because the thread was disintegrating. The same can be true for other materials used - fake leather made of cardboard, etc. One time I bought a Chinese brand suitcase at a shop to carry a few extra things back to the U.S. While going to the airport in Beijing one wheel fell off and the other wheel jammed. While lugging it to the Customs line in the U.S. the handle came off !!

Where do they sell tampons in beijing, and what brand/type do they have?
Tampons aren't really that common anywhere except in the west. (I haven't found tampons in Singapore, Malaysia, or Thailand(Bangkok). In China, the only places you will be able to get them are in the big cities. You can find them in any Jenny Lou's stores (locations in Beijing: Sanlitun, Ritan Park, SOHO, Chaoyang Park East Gate, Lido Hotel.) Or any large supermarkets like Carrefour or even Watsons (like Walgreens or CVS in the states). There won't be as wide a variety as in the US. I've only seen OB (most popular it seems) and Tampax sometimes. I think i did see a Playtex ONCE though.
