Where Can I Convert To Islam And Do My Shahada

Can you convert to Islam twice?

I had a bad experience with jinn, specifically shaytaan. Make a long story short these jinn came to me in my dream and tricked me into converting to Islam. I said the shahada in Arabic etc but then they told me I was an idiot and shortly later I was caught up in a situation where i was tricked into many major sins -__- I hate shaytaan. Don't ask questions please. Just need an answer. Have I been dooped? Have these little rats tricked me into hell fire? I said it from the heart but it was also a bit of ignorance and not to mention in my dream infront of what I know now was shaytaan. I don't want Allah SWT to not accept my second recite into the Islam religion. Not to mention in the dream at the time I knew nothing about Ielam and now I'm a practicing muslim, praise Allah SWT. So can I say it again and can I say it in English since I don't speak Arabic? These jinn guided me into the recitation. Also will my sins be forgiven after the second shahada?? May Allah SWT bless you all.

If I recite the shahada alone am I a convert to Islam?

Yes. Allah is sufficient as a witness. Nobody else needs to know. But it will be best for you to take your Shahaadah in public. Brotherhood is a big part of Islam. As Muslims, we are all one body, brothers and sisters to one another.Taking your Shahaadah in public will give you a sense of belonging and will make it easier for you to meet other Muslims who can teach you and help you along your way.In the eyes of Allah, you're already a believer, and that's what matters. Now you just need to make it official in the public eye.If you wanna take your Shahaadah now, there's no harm in it. You can always retake it publicly later. Speak to Allah, ask Him for guidance, and do what your heart feels is right.Taking your Shahaadah is a very precious moment, so in my opinion, it will be best to make it one you can share with others.

Muslims, How do I convert to Islam?

after talking to a couple of users (Hamza ibn Awad and PathOfTheJust) I have decided to convert to Islam.

I live in chicago and I have a mosque 2 blocks away. What are some things I should do before I say my public shahada? Are there things i should memorize? what should I expect after I become a Muslim?

Is the mere recitation of the Shahada sufficient to convert to Islam?

The words by themselves are not enough. One must actually understand what one is saying, and actually hold them to be true.لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله (lā ʾilāha ʾillā-llāh, muḥammadur-rasūlu-llāh)There is no god but God, and Muhammed is his Messenger. In other words, one must actually hold it to be true that there exists only one god, called The God, and Muhammed is the messenger for God.As Cyril Anderson has already made abundantly clear in his answer, there is no accidental conversion. It an attestation to be made freely, of one's own volition and with a full understanding of its meaning. That this is the case follows from the following verse from the Qur'an 2:256 :لا اكراه في الدين قد تبين الرشد من الغي فمن يكفر بالطاغوت ويؤمن بالله فقد استمسك بالعروة الوثقى لا انفصام لها والله سميع عليمThere shall be no compulsion in (acceptance of) the religion. The right course has become clear from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in Taghut and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

How do I convert to Islam? Can I go to my local mosque and ask for help?

Question: How do I convert to Islam? Can I go to my local mosque and ask for help?Answer: Converting to Islam is very very easy.First all you have to put your beliefs on Allah, prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),Quran and all elements of Islam. Then you have to fix your intention in your heart that you are accepting Allah as God, Muhammad (peace be upon him) as his prophet and Islam as the true way of life or religion. Then you have to say Shahada (in Arabic)- “Asyhadu alla illaha illallah wa asyhadu anna muhamadan abduhu wa rasuluh.”Translation: “I bear witness there is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his servant and messenger.”Congrats! Now you are Muslim. One thing we all should know that, you are reverted to Islam, not converted. Revert is more accurate word for switch into Islam than convert.Because:‘The Prophet (peace be upon him) reported that Allah said, "I created my servants in the right religion but devils made them go astray".The Prophet (peace be upon him) also said, "Each child is born in a state of "Fitrah"(as Muslim), then his parents make him a Jew, Christian or a Zoroastrian, the way an animal gives birth to a normal offspring."-(Collected by Al-Bukhari and Muslim).

What are the steps to do when converting to Islam?

Islam means to submit one’s will to God and it is an action of the heart. Therefore if you are already convinced of the beliefs of Islam then technically you are a muslim at heart. However for you to enter into Islam formally you would be required to make a declaration of faith. It is best to do this in front of at least two witnesses. My advice would be to contact your local mosque and meet with the Imam. Explain to him your desire to enter into Islam and he will set a date and time where you will formally declare your faith in front of witnesses. The declaration of faith will be in arabic however you would also be explained the meaning of the words that you are saying. The declaration usually goes like this“I bear witness that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is His messenger.”If you are unable to contact an Imam for whatever reason then the next best thing is to declare your faith in front of atleast two adult and sane witnesses whom you trust. If you fear for you life or if circumstances prevent you from declaring your faith openly then in that case you can make God as your witness and repeat the sentence that I posted above preferably in arabic. If you don’t know arabic and are unable to speak it then you can utter the sentence in your mother tongue atleast once with the intention of entering into Islam with God as your witness and that should be sufficient.
