3. Your dog is displaying dominance
4. Get your dog fixed.

My girl dog acts like a boy dog?

I have two daschund/corgis. They're two years old and sisters. One of them keeps on humping the other and lifting up her leg when she pees... Is this normal?! She is smaller and doesn't appear to be the alpha female. It's not a problem but is there a simple way to get her to stop? Is she sick? Thanks

Finding a girl dog to breed my boy with?

Hi. (:
I would like to breed my boy dog. He's a maltipoo and 5 pounds, he's very healthy and my vet says he would have good babies. I am mainly asking where to find a female to mate him with?? Any website that I could find other doggy parents looking to have puppies? Thank you so much!! (:

**DISCLAIMER-- I have already talked to my vet and am following their guidance. I am going to neuter him after he has had a litter of puppies and possibly keep most of the puppies. Please no rude comments about bringing too many dogs into the world. I have a rescue dog and another male who are both spayed and neutered.

Thank you. (:

Why do my two female dogs try to mate?

I have two female dogs. One I've had for seven years so is pretty old and the other is only about a year old. They are not related in any way but for some reason the younger dog thinks it is a boy and tries to mate with the older dog. The older dog doesn't like it. They also fight a lot and bite each others faces. I try to break them up but I have been bitten a few times from doing this. Is there any thing I can do to stop this behavior. Other than giving away one of my dogs?

How do I stop my dog from humping my cat?

It depends on how much the dog is doing it and how much it bothers the cat. For animals, this kind of behavior is often not a big deal.If they are pals, neither animal is getting hurt, and the cat is not upset by it, I recommend just letting them be.If the mounting is bugging your cat somewhat, you can simply make sure your cat has plenty of raised surfaces to walk on, that are not very far apart, where the dog can’t reach her/him. This way, the cat can avoid being accosted. Cat trees, cabinets, shelves, tops of refrigerators, etc., are as good as floors to a cat.Cats and dogs can mount each other for various reasons. They may have a friendship, and maybe a bit of sex drive. They don’t know about any gender or species behavior rules. It just feels good, to, well… at least one of them. I had a spayed female dog who used to mount our cats once in a while. Then she would sit on them and wash their ears with her tongue. They patiently put up with it, because they loved her.If your dog has a very strong sex drive, and is really bothering your cat, then if he is not neutered, (as Carol Sumilas Boshears suggested) you may want to consider the pros and cons of neutering him.It is also possible that if your cat is female and not spayed, your dog could be responsive to the cat’s behavior and scent when she is in estrus. In that case, if you don’t intend to let her breed and have kittens, spaying her could help to change the behavior.I answered - “How do I stop my dog from humping my cat?”

How do you recover from the loss of your soul mate dog?

It depends on what you mean by "recover".  I agree with Clarence Sherrick to a large degree.  Having another dog whom you've already fallen in love with is a great comfort.  I don't think it matters about the breed of the new dog.  However, your new dog will also grieve when the first one passes away.  You will need to be there for him/her as much as he/she will be there for you.  Already having the other dog does away with the guilt associated with "replacing" the one you lost. But, DO get another dog as soon as you are able.  Love truly does conquer all, and it takes the love of a dog to heal your soul from the loss of one.  We aren't meant to be alone - neither man nor dog.You will miss your friend, no matter what.  There will be times that the grief overwhelms you - even years later.  Those moments will mellow with time, and those beautiful, happy memories will occur more often.

Why does my fixed male dog hump my cat?

My male (and neutered, when a few years old) dog humps (a.k.a. “mounts”) one of my other cats, an older, friendly, male cat. The two of them are good buddies and the dog only does it occasionally. As others have noted, there could be a number of reasons for why a neutered or spayed dog or cat will hump or mount another. I think part of the reason is if before they had been neutered or spayed they had displayed the behavior (meaning in play, mating, or other), it has become an ingrained behavior. In short, depending on the type of dog or cat, they are technically sexually mature (able to mate and breed) when they are roughly 6–9 months of age, or older. If a cat or dog are not neutered or spayed until they are a year or much older, chances are they have already been displaying mounting (humping) behavior towards other cats and dogs, or even with humans. It may have become part of their normal behavior. Thus even if after they’ve been neutered or spayed, they may still sometimes display humping behavior despite now having a changed (reduced or eliminated) sexual hormones in their bodies. In the case of my buddies at home, I think the dog does it when he’s all excited about something else, running back and forth and then wants to play with the cat, he’ll mount the cat. My dog was used to doing that before he was neutered and though he doesn’t do it as much as he used to, he’ll still do it to his playmate.

If a dog is already pregnant, can a male dog still want to mate with her?

The majority of the answers are correct, a female dog that is truly pregnant is no longer in “heat” and therefor will not attract males nor stand for them to be bred. All dogs however do hump as a form of domination and that has nothing to do with mating or making babies. I did notice that no one mentioned that a female dog can be bred by multiple males and produce puppies from several different males, so the puppies have one mother but they can each have different fathers. Hopefully the poor female has not been left outside where all these males can take their turn with her. Please remember to spay and neuter your pets, there are far too many animals in need of loving homes to find it necessary to breed dogs and cats. ALSO, there is an old wives-tail that a female should be allowed to have at least one litter of puppies, that is wrong. Waiting until the animal is old enough to breed only makes it less likely she will have any sort complications from the spaying because her organs are grown. Females dogs who are spay too early can have problems with incontinence, but that is as much an issue with an inexperienced or over confident veterinarian as it is with an immature dog. Spaying/neutering an animal not only prevents unwanted pregnancies and behavioral issues but it greatly reduces their risk of many types of cancer.

Can a male dog mate with a female with no testicles and not make her pregnant?

Just because he was neutered, doesnt mean he cant "do the deed".

A neutered male will indeed still mate with a female heat.. neutering doesnt take away instincts or desire.. it only takes away the ability to reproduce.

My boy was snipped at 5 months, and has tied with a female a few times when he was over a year old.. no puppies.
