Where Can I Find Sweet Child O

Was "Sweet Child O' Mine" in School of Rock?

Was the song "Sweet Child O' Mine" by Guns N' Roses in the movie School of Rock starring Jack Black? My brother swears it was but I don't recall it being. He claims that it was just a small segment of the song, though, so it's not on the soundtrack. If you know it is, during what part does it appear? Thanks!

Who wrote Sweet Child o' Mine?

It was written by the members of Guns N' Roses.Lead guitarist Slash has been quoted as having a disdain for the song due to its roots as simply a "string skipping" exercise and a joke at the time. In a VH1 special, it was stated that Slash played the riff in a jam session as a joke.Drummer Steven Adler and Slash were warming up and Slash began to play a "circus" melody while making faces at Steven. Rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin asked Slash to play it again. Meanwhile lead singer Axl Rose was upstairs in his room and heard the 'jam session' going on downstairs and couldn't help but write lyrics. He based it on his girlfriend Erin Everly. With Steven's added drum part, Izzy's chords and Duff McKagan's bassline the harmony became the core of the song. Originally, there was a third verse to the song. However, this verse was later cut from recording as the band's producer, Mike Clink, felt the song would carry on for too long. The final dramatic breakdown was not added until Clink suggested the band add one. They agreed, but weren't sure what to do. Axl started saying to himself, "Where do we go? Where do we go now?" Clink suggested that he sing that, and "Sweet Child o' Mine" was born.

Who likes sweet child o mine and why?

I like Sweet Child O' mine because of the killer intro of the guitar solo by Slash and the melodies of vocal and guitar solo of the song.Personally, I prefer the vocal performance of the song by Sheryl rather than Axl.But the signature of the guitar solo of the song can't be replaced by others.Slash really kicked ass on his guitar solo of this song. I wish I could play and compose guitar solo like that. Finally, I really enjoy singing this song in Karaoke bar :)

What is the song ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’ about?

It’s fairly much what it says. The narrator is saying how pretty his girlfriend is and how her features remind him of the happy days of his childhood. The song was allegedly written very quickly, and when they got to a point where they felt there should be a bridge, they were a bit flummoxed about what to do, and the temporary lyric “where do we go now”, was used until something better could be found. Nothing ever seems to have come about. It’s a song that can easily be over thought.

Is "sweet child o mine" hard to play on guitar?

Yes. It's a blues based riff. It is super simple, especially if you already know blues boxes.
The legatos and bends on the solos are a little harder to feel out, but not the hardest ever. (You can hear the bends if you really listen.)
Most of their stuff uses pentatonic scales and power chords. Easy Peasy.

What scale is used in the solo of sweet child o mine?

The beginning of the song is based around the D major scale. The first solo uses combinations of D major and the major pentatonic scale along with the D mixolydian mode. The end section solo is mainly E minor pentatonic/ blues scale with some of the diatonic minor scale thrown in.
It should be noted that the D mixolydian mode and the E minor scale are both essentially the same thing as the G major scale.
He also uses F# minor pentatonic in the "where do we go" section, with a bit of Phrygian mode thrown in.

Is Sweet Child O' Mine hard on the guitar?

Read this and decide:Isolate the harder parts, slow them down. One very important thing to pay attention to is the timing of the faster licks. There are sections in the main solo, where he would perform bends and hammer-ons and pulloffs at 6 notes per beat at the song tempo of 127 bpm.  [You would need to refer correct tabs to understand this, or slow down the song on a software to about 50% of the tempo and listen very carefully]. Speedwise, it is equivalent to 16ths at 190+ bpm. That is insanely fast. So don't expect that you will get anywhere near that right now if you follow the timing accurately. Nonetheless, you can learn the lick and use it at a slower tempo. As you play more and more, over the years you can re-attempt these licks and get closer and closer. No matter what most people tell you, that solo is very hard if you want to execute it like Slash does. Remember that the harder it is, lesser people will do it correctly, more your sense of satisfaction on finally finishing it.

Why is “Sweet Child O' Mine” such a popular song?

Sweet Child O’ Mine is so popular because it sings of feelings we have each have had straight from the soul or heart. In hearing it one is left with the feeling, YEAH! That’s exactly how I feel about her! or him! Straight from the heart! It’s as if someone stole it straight from the tune your heart sings about someone you love and molded it into a fashion others will recognize and agree with. It feels as if it is yours. This is a song that few could hear without it speaking to or from their hearts in some deep manner. If there were ever one thing Guns and Roses got right it was this song. It is likely the song that got Guns and Roses hooks in any of us who enjoy listening to them. The feeling imparted to the listener is the greatest example of how music can speak to the soul that I know of. I love the song and have to turn it up every time I hear it and this is true in every form I have heard it. Note that at this point I only know of Guns and Roses along with Sheryl Crow versions. I like each of them near equally and have since the first time I ever heard either of them. And each time I hear it a specific girl comes to mind. The lyrics alone minus the music are wonderful in this expression. But the lyrics combined with the music are a slam dunk! She's got a smile that it seems to me,Reminds me of childhood memoriesWhere everything was as fresh as the bright blue skyNow and then when I see her faceIt takes me away to that special placeAnd if I stay too long, I'd probably break down and cryWo oh oh sweet child o' mineOh oh oh sweet love of mineShe's got eyes of the bluest skiesAs if they thought of rainI hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of painHer hair reminds me of a warm safe placeWhere as a child I'd hideAnd pray for the thunder and the rainTo quietly pass me byWo oh oh sweet child o' mineOh oh oh sweet love of mineWo oh oh sweet child o' mineOh yeah yeah sweet love of mineWhere do we go?Where do we go now?Where do we go?Where do we go?Where do we go now?Where do we go now?Where do we go?Sweet childWhere do we go now?Aj, aj, aj aj, aj...Where do we go now?Where do we go?Where do we go now?Where do we go?Where do we go now?Where do we go?Where do we go now?Sweet childSweet child o' mineNothing in my mind could improve the song. That is why I also like Sheryl’s copy of it.

What are some songs that have a guitar riff like Sweet Child O'Mine, the last part of Bohemian Rhapsody, Anastasia, etc.?

ohoh!! Those are inspired by 1) warm ups -(Sweet childs’ riff was a finger exercise :) ) and 2) Classical music! Queen wrote mini operas.Ergo, you might actually like some older styles, like Classical and opera…. my two cents. :D Maybe check out Violinist Vanessa Mae as a starting point of a cool combination of classical and rock. She plays classical, but with an electric violin, over modern rock beats- at least, she did a while back. So check out stuff from the 90s first.
