Windows 8 Action Center says McAfee is off...?

But I know it isn't, as McAfee Security Center says firewall and virus protection is on. The problem began earlier after I installed Java and ran the mcscriptfix.zip file to fix my original issue with the firewall blocking all access to the Internet. After this, Action Center keeps promoting me to turn on a firewall and AV program. I ran McAfee Virtual Technician to searh for problems. It fixed two issues in the registry, but even after this Action Center wouldn't recognize McAfee as on. I gave up and turned off these notifications, since I know McAfee is on. Now, is there a reason this is happening, and is it OK to leave those messages off?
I found all my solutions on the McAfee site, so I know what I was doing was actually helping me.

Does McAfee security center keep a record of the websites I visit?

I just got McAfee on my computer. Before, when I needed to clear my history for whatever reason, I would just easily delete it. Will McAfee keep a record of the sites I visit even if i clear my history? my parents control it and i want to know if mcafee will let them see what sites i visit? if it does, is there anything i can do to prevent them from seeing my entire site history?

2. You DO NOT need to reformat your hard drive and reinstall Windows.
3. Freedomhammer is correct, it is a sales tool trying to trick you - and it is awful that companies do this I agree.
4. butchell is correct, the sales tool they are using is a form of spyware infection, do what he said - download spybot & adaware, restart in safe mode to install and run them.
