What would happen if Yahoo! Answers and Quora merged?

It’s already happening as we speak!I know it’s hard to believe but such a fusion is taking place as we speak. Although, that merger isn’t taking place in the conventional sense. Quora and Yahoo never had any such deals as far as I know. So why am I saying that it’s already happening?Well! What I am trying to say is that Quora is trying to become more Yahoo Answers like in nature. Remember the recent changes? Remember this happening?I was as outraged as your average outraged Quora member when question details were removed. However, I didn’t understand just how bad the problem was until something happened to me recently. What happened was that I was going through certain technical subjects and came across a few questions that are very interesting. Then it occurred to me that Quora has a lot of STEM and philosphy people who’d be able to explore the ideas further if I shared it here.So what happened next? Well, the absence of the question details made it extremely hard for me to present my case with adequate details. None of the questions were things you could just throw out there and expect a person to answer it satisfactorily. So I just gave up and wondered if I should instead be asking questions like “If there was a battle between tea and coffee, who do you think would win?”.The thing is that there’s a lot of us who prefer online forums to discuss certain technical topics where we can write about the issues and present our cases properly. Quora wasn’t as good as that but at least had the feature that enabled us to at least attempt at addressing complex issues on this platform. What did that mean for Quora? It meant that people who like discussing such complex issues didn’t have to spend their time on forums. They could simply create an account here and enjoy everything from technical issues requiring some elaboration all the way to things like “Why I don’t like celebrity X” type of things. The removal of the question details turned Quora back into another question and answer site for me. Now if you add the problem of the abuse of the report feature by trolls or people trying to silence you, I really don’t think that we are that far away from becoming Yahoo Answers. As the site grows, these abuses will scale up too. Add the fact that we are now being slowly guided towards only discussing simpler issues and you’ll soon realize that we are probably almost certainly headed towards that future.

At what point did Yahoo lose its Yahoo answers population over to here?

At what point did Yahoo lose its Yahoo answers population over to here?Put simply, Yahoo! ceased to delete offensive and defamatory questions and answers even when reported by multiple people. Then there are multiple postings by juveniles who think they are funny by repeating some stale old schoolyard joke that has been around since Adam was a pup.Assorted other oxygen thieves and whacked out conspiritards. Most people will not put up with that. So they left.

Why is Quora more popular than Yahoo Answers? What elements make it the more popular Q&A site?

A couple of years back, early 2015 I guess, I wanted to know about the basics of big data and its importance in industry.I googled “What is Big data”The first link popped up was Wikipedia - I opened in a new tab and set it aside. The second link was from Yahoo answers. I opened and was looking for some useful information. There were answers like:I was confused, irritated and most of the answers didn’t answer the question. The next link which popped was from Quora.I could find answers like this:Answer was by Balaji Viswanathan (பாலாஜி விஸ்வநாதன்) sir. That is the moment I followed him and read his other answers too! And that was the moment i decided not to refer yahoo answers for anything in future.Unlike Yahoo answers, Why was the answer better? It summed up all the information - technical explanation with real life examplesPictures made it easier for me to connect with answerThe credential “Ran a Big data company” made me believe the answer is from someone trustworthy.Upvotes and comments of appreciation from people in related field made me feel secured about the answerComments were healthy and was debating its future application. So, with no further discussions, Quora is always better than Yahoo answers.

Does Yahoo Answers have any sort of payment program for some of their users?

Nope you can not make money using Yahoo Answerspoints when you reach a certain amount gets you to the next level as you level up you can contribute more to the site each levels has restrictions on what you can and can not do such as how many questions you can ask and answer points have no money value towards them and there are no actual prizes learn more about points and levels here Points & Levels | Yahoo Answers

When yahoo answers says "Sorry, you've reached your daily asking limit. Earn more points or come back tomorrow to ask more." how do you ask more questions on the current day? What do you have to do to do that?

There are limits connected to the levels of your account. To advance from one level to another, you need to collect points that can be obtained through answering questions, your answers being chosen as the best ones to particular questions etc. When you're a Level 1 user, for instance, you're only allowed to post 5 questions a day, when you move on to Level 2, the number of questions increases to 10 and so it goes. Take a look at the information here, it's all very detailed and should help a lot Points & Levels | Yahoo Answers

What is the difference between Quora and Yahoo Answers, etc.?

What is the difference between Quora and Yahoo Answers, etc? Most of the answers on Yahoo Answers are written by, well, yahoos. YA! does not concern itself with qualifications or credentials of those who provide answers. In this respect, Quora is vastly superior. A lot of the questions on YA! are posted by school kids wanting quick answers to homework. They usually feel entitled rather than grateful, and tend to be abusive when confronted or frustrated in their effort to get a free pass. Quora mostly discourages these questions, and usually flags them as homework, which I can filter out.The set of topics that are supported on YA! are a fixed heirarchy established by the website administrators many years ago. Each question must reside in a single topic. It is difficult on YA! to find a single, suitable topic for questions that cannot be answered with a Google search, and if you are lucky enough to find one, it is probably dead, with no responders.I won’t discuss the ridiculous point system on YA!, which motivates people to submit answers like “IDK” and “what he said,” in order to garner 2 points toward a “level-up”.When YA! decided that any question on the site would be answered in 1000 characters or fewer, I decided to not waste any more of my time with them. I tried StackOverflow (great for techies,) StackExchange (a haven for intellectual snobs,) and a few others so horrible that my memories are repressed. That’s when I found Quora, the proverbial happy medium. If you need some comic relief, by all means, check out YA!. If you want good information, look to Quora.
