Where Can I Get Help With Physics

Help with physics!?

The first step is to calculate the initial kinetic energy of the spike.

KE = ½ * 0.65 * 4.8^2 = 7.488 J

Let’s calculate 63.5% of this number.
Q = 0.65 * 7.488 = 4.8672 J

Lets’ subtract these two numbers.
Q = 7.488 – 4.8672 = 2.6208 J

This energy will increase the temperature of the spike and ice. I hope this is helpful for you.

The driving force = difference between m3 and m4 * g
= (m3-m4) * g

It must accelerate a total mass of m3 + m4 + 1/2 m1 + 1/2 m2

so the acceleration is force / mass = g*(m3-m4) / m3 + m4+1/2*(m1+m2)
= 9.8 * (1.97-1.34) / ( 1.97 + 1.34 + 1/2 *(2.2+2.6) ) = 1.08 m/s^2
You might notice that the radius of the pulleys does not affect the result.
The moment of inertia of the pulleys is such that they have an effect on a string at the periphery of 1/2 of their mass irrespective of the diameter of the pulley ( unless the mass is not uniformly distributed throughout the pulley ).

A light spring of constant 166 N/m rests vertically on the bottom of a large beaker of water. A 4.15 kg block of wood of density 661 kg/m3 is connected to the top of the spring and the block-spring system is allowed to come to static equilibrium.What is the elongation ∆L of the spring? The acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s 2. Answer in units of cm.

This is the questionIn the figure, two particles, each with mass m = 0.85 kg, are fastened to each other, and to a rotation axis at O, by two thin rods, each with length d = 5.4 cm and mass M = 1.3 kg. The combination rotates around the rotation axis with angular speed ω = 0.28 rad/s. Measured about O, what is the combination's (a) rotational inertia and (b) kinetic energy?

A device is assembled in a vacuum that contains two large spheres suspended close to each other. Sphere One is fixed, unable to move. Sphere Two has a mass of 970.0 kg and is free to move, without friction, in a straight horizontal line toward Sphere One. Consequently, the only force acting on Sphere Two in the horizontal plane is the gravitational force of Sphere One. Sphere Two's motion toward Sphere One is monitored for several days after which a position versus time graph and velocity versus time graph for the motion is produced.
You analyze the graphs and determine after 4.7 days of motion the sphere centers were 4.4 m apart and the velocity versus time graph's slope was 2.1x10^-7 m/s2.

a) What is the magnitude of the gravitational force between the spheres at 4.7 days?
b)What is the mass of Sphere One?
c)How much does Sphere One weigh?

For a solid cylinder, the moment of inertia is
I = ½mR²
and so for this m-g-r
I = ½ * (772/9.8 kg) * (1.42m)² = 79.4 kg·m²

torque τ = I*α = F*r
and so
79.4kg·m² * α = 78.2N * 1.42m
solves to
α = 1.40 rad/s²

after 3.24 s,
ω = α*t = 1.40rad/s² * 3.24s = 4.35 rad/s

Then
KE = ½Iω² = ½ * 79.4kg·m² * (4.35rad/s)² = 815 J ◄

You might be able to shortcut somewhat by finding the distance along which the force acts:
Θ = ½αt² = ½ * 1.40rad/s² * (3.24s)² = 7.35 rads

s = Θ*r = 7.35rads * 1.42m = 10.4 m
and so
work done = KE = F*s = 78.2N * 10.4m = 816 J
Well, I guess that's not much of a shortcut.

Hope this helps!
