Where Can I Get My Cartilage Pierced

Should I get my cartilage pierced?

i just got my carglige pierced. there are a few downsides unfortunately. one being the location. it can make it hard to sleep at times because of where it is on the ear. it can also get tangled up in your hair but that hasnt happened to me yet. also, it can swell a lot (mine did) but it goes down after some time. it didnt hurt a lot. i think it hurt less than getting your ears regularly pierced. it also goes by really quickly so you dont really feel it. the cartligle is also thinner than the bottom of your ear, so it hurts less.

if you do get it done, just remember to turn it regularly so it doesnt get stuck to your ear. also, you dont have to buy all that fancy ear cleaner. salt water works perfectly fine.

hope this helps =]

Can I take out my cartilage piercing?

Of course you can, unless it is infected with pus/lots of swelling because then it is best to leave it alone and apply sea salt soaks and/or get antibiotics from a doctor if the infection is severe. Depending on how long ago you were pierced /how long the jewellery stayed in, it might close up fairly quickly so bear that in mind. Clean your hands before touching it. Cartilage piercings have the tendency to get crust aka dried -on lymph fluid etc around them. This might make it seem difficult to remove your piercing. Apply a warm compress consisting of clean cotton wool and boiled, cooled water + a pinch of uniodised salt. This will help warm the tissue and removes the dried -on crusties safely. Do not just try to remove your piercing without any preparation as it might lead to complications /injury/infection. Better safe than sorry & it is no big deal after taking precautions.

Should I get my cartilage pierced at claire's/icing?

I'm 13, and have finally convinced my parents into letting me get my cartilage pierced. I'm a little worried about where to get it done though. I've heard some good and bad things about getting your cartilage pierced at clarie's. Is it safe? Will it get infected? Should I go to a tattoo parlor instead?
Thanks! xoxo

What should you do if your cartilage piercing hurts? How can it be treated?

How old is the piercing?Cartilage piercings are a little tricky - they take forever to 100% completely heal.. I mean sometimes even over a year for it to be completely healed, especially your ear cartilage.I've had mine for over a decade, and if I sleep on it wrong, or get hit (training martial arts) it'll  still get hurt and be painful for a while. There isn't any real treatment, I'd say. If it's a newer piercing, I'd say keep an eye out for infection. Antibiotics will help with that, but if it's more or less healed and painful from being snagged or irritated, really, all you can do is wait it out.

Can I take out my 3-day-old cartilage piercing?

Just leave the jewelry out and keep the area clean and free from trauma until the wound has fully healed. Unless you experience a complication, there is no need to visit a doctor. If you wish to have a cartilage piercing, let it heal for a few weeks, then seek a competent professional[1]. A professional piercer will use sterile, disposable instruments and appropriate jewelry that is sized to fit your cartilage (and allow for any swelling). The “one size” jewelry from ear stud guns does not successfully “fit all” and the design is poor—allowing for matter to become trapped in the butterfly backing. Quality body jewelry is immeasurably superior!Footnotes[1] Association of Professional Piercers

How do I convince my parents to let me get my cartilage pierced?

There is a question very similar in concept to this one that I answered a few days ago. I feel that it would pertain to this situation as well.Kendra Vogel's answer to My daughter wants a triple earlobe piercing, but I think that's trashy. How do I convince her?I'm not sure if the questions should be merged because it is a different question. Look through the other answers on the linked question; some of them bring up good points about why “trashy” isn't a valid argument to not get piercings.I would suggest pointing out how cartilage piercings are very low risk piercings; they may require extra care but don't need surgery to remove and typically don't cause extensive scarring (like many other piercings out there). Also, you can remove it if you need/want to. There will be a little dot left over from healing, but oftentimes you don't even notice it after it closes up. But remember that after a piercing heals there's scar tissue left in the place. Repiercing it hurts and can take longer to heal than the original one.If you come to a last resort, promise it's the last one you're going to beg them for. I did this for my 3rd lobe piercing on my left ear (I had 3 lobe and 1 cartilage on my right ear and 2 lobe on my left. I wanted to even it out). She made me promise that I was done with my ears being pierced, which I am. She probably thought it looked trashy but didn't say that to me. Getting a harmless piercing wasn't a huge deal, so she decided to compromise and therefore get me off her back about it.You could also make a list of “rules” like I mentioned. That way they know that you will do your best to take good care of it. And get a stud piercing, not a hoop. Plain, silver stud piercings are much “classier” looking to most people, including your parents. Make them see the good, and explain how the bad could be good for them (i.e. If it gets seriously infected you will take it out).Good luck!

How to Make my cartilage piercing bigger?

The same way you make ear lobes bigger, you use lubed tapers and slowly go one size at a time.
Compared to lobe stretching, cartilage stretching hurts quite a bit. It hurts as your stretching, and then it's ultra tender for weeks.
Your cartilage piercing is only 4 months old, I highly recommend leaving it alone until it has enough time to fully form the fistula. Rotating the earrings does nothing but cause unnecessary irritation. Keep up on cleaning and don't touch!

I had my cartilage pierced and it turned to a bump. I recently got my industrial pierced and it now has a bump too. How do I heal it?

I had my industrial done and got bumps on both ends. Hurt quite a bit and I couldn't sleep on that side or touch it with anything. I went to a different piercer and she said my anatomy wasn't the correct fit to have had it pierced in the first place which lead to pressure. Also the cheaper externally threaded jewelery causes irritation and can reopen the healing piercing every time it moves. And a higher nickel content can cause irritation. So the industrial was highly irritated hence the angry looking bumps and pain.I had to retire my industrial piercing because it had migrated wasn't a good fit. The pain and irritation was immediately better. The swelling is going down as well. It's only been about 4 days since I retired it. My other piercings are salvageable but I'm working on replacing with higher quality jewelery. My conch has been so much better with titanium. My new piercer also recommended to me just to rinse with shower water after a shower and then to blow dry gently with cold air to dry the piercing. This is for older piercings mind you.My best advice is to get your ears looked at by a quality piercer who is knowledgeable. Ask around and do research to find someone. They'll know best how to help you as I am no expert. The above is what my piercer told me for my ears, and all ears are unique!

How do you treat an infected cartilage piercing?

Do you know it's infected? What is your evidence for it? Chances are it is simply irritated and has healing difficulties rather than being infected.Infection in piercing is a truly dangerous thing but luckily it is very rare and ALWAYS has the same symptomsGreen plasma or pus around the site or dark black tissue (not just white or yellow- White and yellow pus is a normal thing)Extreme pain (like extreme not just itchiness or soreness)Discolouring of your skin from rashes to dark purple colour appearing around not just the site but expanding away from itIf you see these signs or symptoms then yes it is infected. Go to a hospital immediately as it is life threatening. If of course you don't see these signs (and as a professional of over 6 years I never ever have) you simply have irritation and you have either misdiagnosed infection or heard that diagnosis from a friend or a professional who doesn't appreciate body modification(this is so super common)So don't fear- go see your piercer and make sure you clean it using warm mild saline and nothing more! (Maybe change your earring too)

How do I treat a bleeding cartilage piercing?

Bleeding cartledge piercings can be painful. I would recommend salt water to clean your piercing. Alot of these“cleaning aids” have never worked for me personally but I have very sensitive skin. Everyone heals differently and not everyone can wear the same kinds of jewlrey. I find myself repeating that alot because people don't do their homework and some figure they can just wear anything. Not true..do your homework. Your jewlrey can be the whole reason your piercing is bleeding, sore or just don't seem to want to heal. If its bleeding Alot, take out the jewelry and let it heal, Your piercer may have hit a vein. Its easier just to pierce it again at a later date. If it only seems crusty, with dry blood. Could mean you slept on it or hooked it somehow. Just keep it clean and it should be ok. A cartledge piercing can take up to a year to heal or longer if you have trouble with it. I hope this helps…Good luck.
