Why is glitter so expensive?!?

I assume you're asking about fine-particle *polyester* glitters (often used for clothing, stamping, special kinds for heat embossing**, etc, and sometimes referred to as "art glitters") rather than larger-particle *metal* glitters (often used by kids and others for various purposes and commonly referred to as "craft glitter"), or even glitters made from glass, etc.
(There are also various mica-particle powders and real-metal particle powders that can give effects from high-shine to a more pearl shine.)

Polyester glitters are made from various kinds of plastic, and come in various particle sizes and opacities and even shapes. Those often have to be purchased in craft stores or perhaps art supply departments or online, and are more more expensive than "craft" glitters.

Metal craft glitters can be bought at craft stores but also anywhere regular craft supplies or kids' art supplies are carried (e.g., Walmart, drug stores, etc), and of course also online. They're much cheaper, and will also be cheaper in larger volumes. Also look for them to be cheaper and more available around holidays like Christmas, Halloween and Easter.

As to why polyester glitters are more expensive than metal glitters, it just takes more time and effort to make the polyester ones, and they also come in many more particle sizes, colors, uses, qualities, etc.

** made from thermoplastic powders made from plastic resins --they'll swell, "melt," and bond when heated

What will happen if I use nontoxic acrylic paint as nail polish (on top of a layer of gel-based coat)?

Nothing will happen. Most of the beautiful nail art you see online uses acrylic paint. It's great to work with but will wash off easily so use a good top coat and seal the ends.

What should i get my "little sister" for big sis/ little sis gift for HS Volleyball?

Hi, so at my highschool we do something called big sis/ little sis so the older and younger classes get to know each other better and all get along. You buy ur little sister gifts and she buys you gifts. So far Ive already gotten her a homemade glitter waterbottle, nail polish, ribbons and headbands, a locker magnet sign, a teddy bear, and tons and tons of candy. She's gotten me a makeup bag, nailpolish and ribbons, a stuffed animal, a bracelet and also tons and tons of candy. I need some ideas for what else I can get her? Keep in mind I've only known her for about 3 weeks people so it can't be like super gushy.... Help??

What kind of paints should I use for painting glass rhinestones?

I bought some cheap rhinestone jewelry(the kind girls wear to their prom) and want to paint it, but can't find any instructions online(though, I can find several examples of what I'm trying to do on Etsy).

I found a brief mention of how to do tis on two YouTube videos. One said to use acrylic paint, the other said to use nail polish.

So far, I've tried the acrylic paint with a fluid glazing medium over it. It looks horrible and the light doesn't shine through from the back of the rhinestones. I'm not sure that Nailpolish will be a better solution.

So,before I sacrifice another peice of jewelry, can anyone recommend a good type of paint to use for this project. I'd prefer a paint that will let some light through and won't look dry and cakey after I paint it onto glass. Thanks!
