How can internet startup effectively recruit software engineers?

I can’t believe no-one has said Craigslist yet. I actually got two of my latest positions from this site. The great thing about craigslist is that you don’t have to pay any overhead like you would with a recruiting firm.Another thing that will help out is a well written job description. Generally speaking most developers don’t care as much about what type of business you run as they do about what they will actually be doing and what the pay rate is. Be sure to be very specific about both.Another huge plus would be to mention that you are willing to interview candidates on off-work hours. Do companies that come for campus recruitment offer the post of web designer, or do they offer only software engineer posts?

Thanks for the A2A. Don't know about the big IT firms but the smaller IT companies and start-ups definitely look to hire for specific roles including designer and front end developers. I am part of a start-up (MyRefers) and I was at a start up job fair at the DTU campus last week. We offered internships for both front end developers and designers. And we weren't the only ones doing do. Start-ups cannot afford to do a year long training and then decide roles. They have specific requirements and mostly need people who can start contributing right away. Moreover, good designers are highly sought after today. Develop you skills and build  a good portfolio on Behance and trust me you will have no shortage of opportunities. So the answer( as long as you are open to start ups ) is yes. Hope that helps.
