Where Can U Find Law Regarding Council Tax In

What should I do regarding council tax and bills?

I live in a 3 bedroom accomodation in London, with a friend. My friends brother was meant to be the 3rd person staying at the flat but due to visa issues he never made it. Its coming up to the 5th month and my friend has bailed and gone to live with his family, he is still paying rent which is fine but I now have a Council Tax bill to deal with.

I am on jobseekers benefits and I signed up for housing benefits a couple of weeks ago, I got a bill through a couple of weeks ago saying I need to pay not only an installment of the Council Tax bill, but since it is overdue I must also pay a court sumons of £75. Now when I went for my housing benefits meeting they told me they will only pay for 1/3rd of it, but when my friend phoned up he said he is only liable for 50% of it, so which one is right, am I liable for half or 1/3rd which has been paid into my council tax account.

And for which part am I liable for the court summons. My friend is abroad so I need to send him details on how much he owes me and all the bills are catching up quickly. Since the tenancy agreement is for 6 months and our BT line is for 18 months, and o2 broadband is for 12 months, what should I do, im thinking about moving abroad to live with my parents for a while as I cant seem to find any work and all I seem to be doing is paying bills how should I sort this out can I pass on the remaining months of the phone/internet bills on to someone else who needs them? In a different name?

Help me !

Thanks in advance....

Mobile home uk and council tax.?

If you use it for holidays only, then there is no council tax.
If it is your main residence then council tax applies.

In 2011 there were rules introduced to protect people who live in static caravans or in mobile homes, but you have to bear in mind the obvious - which is that mobile homes are mobile, whilst static caravans are static. Therefore the laws differ for these two things.

For static caravans:
A landowner will only pay the Council Tax for you if a), they rent a caravan to you and the Council Tax is included in the rent, or b) they include the Council Tax in your site fees.
Both of these would be quite unusual, as a caravan owner is normally liable for their own Council Tax if it is due.

For mobile homes, I am unsure of the rules and laws.

I received a council tax bill of £2740 after 10 years, I was a student at that time. Please help?

see a solicitor

It would appear that the 5 of you agreed to rent the house together
If so then then its the HOUSE that council tax is due, not individuals. and ALL of you were responsible for paying it.(but this COULD depend on the lease)

If ALL of you had been bona fide students then no council tax was due ON THE HOUSE
But 2 of you weren't bona fide students. The 2 may have well been "studying" but cos it wasn't a registered establishment then the weren't bona fide students (Otherwise ANYBODY could set up any sort of establishment, people register at it, and hey presto they dont have to pay council tax)

I do not know what having 2 out of 5 occupants NOT bona fide students would have on the council tax bill, maybe it was reduced accordingly, maybe not. But since I assume you all signed the lease together then you are all responsible for the bill. As they havent been able to trace the others that leaves you to pay it (but you could??? sue the others)

As for your questions
1) yes they can
2) You are responsible cos you signed the lease for the whole house together (I assume) thereby making all of you responsible for it.
HOWEVER - do you have a copy of the original tenancy agreement. (I would be very surprised if you did). Did this identify who was responsible for the council tax bill? Or could it imply that the owner was responsible (e.g it specified that the occupants were responsible for gas, electricity, gas, but did not mention say water or council tax, thereby implying the owner was responsible for these ?

3) Dont know - thats why I say see a solicitor (you may well get a 1/2 hour free consultation which should be enough to find out where you stand. )
Its possible that CAB may be able to advise

(A thought - do you have some form of house or contents insurance?
If so - did you add on the legal protection cover?
If so - then they normally have a free call line which you can call 24/7 for free legal advice
or if you live with your parents do they have legal protection cover? (cos you could be entitled to use it if you lived with them))

Where is there a law stateing u have to pay income taxes?

I disagree with burt. Can you tell us what the number of the statute or the court case name?.In the movie "from freedom to fascism aaron russo asks the ex-commisioner of the irs and the guy finally walks out of the room cause he cannot give him the answer.Americans did not pay federal income taxes from 1776 to 1913.The rockefellers, warburgs etc. paid off some politician to sneak it into law while most of congress were away for the christmas holidays.Woodrow wilson who signed into law that the federal reserve later regretted doing so said "I have ruined my country..no longer a govt of free opinion by the people...but by a small group of dominant men.1919.Because of these bankers we have had the fed inc. tax.The federal reserve prints the money and loans it to the american govt. at interest and we citizens get to pay it back so the govt doesn't own the money but the private bankers do.The supreme court has ruled in favor of the citizens. If you examine the 16th ammendment carefully you will find a sufficient number of states never ratified that ammendment. U.S District Court Judge James C. Fox 2003.The irs tries to bully you even though they say its voluntary they still will &%$# with you.Theres more to this just watch the aaron russos film for starters.Ok i would like to add something on.Now from 1776 to 1913 americans didn't pay income tax right? But in 1913 and after, the income tax was ok and the federal reserve started that year right? In the constitution it says the govt is suspose to coin its own money, but we have the federal reserve who loans the govt money with interest. So our income tax that we pay goes to a private bank. We've gone back before 1776 so as long as we pay our taxes to the kings then its ok!Didn't the federal reserve guys bribe the politicians? But **** it's the american way.

How to find your existing debts?

I was living in Canada and I remember there was a website you pay (I don't know, lets just say $100) and you found all the companies ect who you owed money too.

Is there anything like that for England?

Or to find if you are fully up to date with everything regarding council tax (house bills) for renting council property?

Thank you.

Does a person working and living abroad have to pay council tax?

I have the same problem. charged council tax when living and working abroad. No intension of return, and at the time, not my sole residence. Whilst living abroad, a liability order was made against me at a magistrate's. I could not of attended as I was 6k miles away.. What information I need is the stature law regarding liability, when and how you can be liable. tenancy or no tenancy, what is "sole or main residence". I have tried to talk to the council, but it falls on deaf ears, and the response is, you owe it. And if you don't pay, bailiffs, etc.. Corrupt or what!

There are a lot of things you should do, but here’s a start:Find a good lawyer to talk to regarding the structure of the business (i. e. Corporation, LLC, etc.) to make sure that you are protected.Get insurance for the business. Often chambers of commerce or industry associations have good deals.Be capitalized! The reason most new businesses fail within a couple of years or less is a lack of capital (funds). You need to figure out how much is needed if the business is slower than you plan AND if it grows too fast. If you don’t have the ability to do these calculations yourself (most people don’t), hire an accountant.Think ahead. What will you need 1 or 2 years down the road. Consider people (employees or other), space to operate, equipment, promotion/marketing and cash. Figure out how you will get there, or does it make more sense to get it now. For example, renting a larger space than you need to start, because the cost of moving equipment may be highly inefficient.Talk to family, friends and trusted advisors. Don’t do it in secret. The more ideas and thoughts you can get, the better the chance that you will stumble on things that help.If you’re married, make sure you spouse is behind you. Starting a business takes time, effort and energy. You might become exhausted from the startup effort and need him/her to boost you. Or (as happened to me a couple of times) you’re constantly excited about what’s happening at work. They need to be ready to be ignored for a while. I was lucky.Be realistic. Anyone starting a new business is by definition a dreamer. That’s good. But it needs to be tempered with reality. What happens if the business fails; will we be able to eat and pay the rent? How much time and money will it REALLY need? Many more things you should ask yourself regarding the particular industry. Are you the “entrepreneur type?” Why are you starting a business? If it’s because you don’t want a boss, you’re wrong. Instead of the one boss you have now, you’ll have many: your customers, the bank (loans), your suppliers (getting them to deliver) and more. You need to have the deep, deep desire to create something and run it, despite the potential aggravation, stress and time.Well, that’s a beginning. Hopefully, you’ll get more from talking to friends.Good luck! Running your own business can be great, despite the possible pitfalls.

Is it Against Uk Law...?

Probably not.

Employers HAVE to see one of these documents to make sure you are entitled to work in this country (if you are not born here you can get government documents to prove you are entitled). Its the law.

They probably won't interview in order to save themselves time later...why interview and find the perfect candidate only to discover later that you are not legal?

My only advice now is to make sure you have copies of your birth certificate ready for future interviews.

Good Luck in jour job search!

If are a US citizen, the rule is as follows - even if you are residing outside the United States or have dual citizenship, you are subject to U.S. federal income tax and reporting on your worldwide income. Citizens living abroad must annually report all of their income to the IRS, just as they did prior to moving abroad, whether the income is from U.S. sources or foreign sources and whether or not the income is taxed or reported in the new country of residence. This system of citizenship-based taxation (rather than residence-based taxation) is unique to the United States (the only other country that taxes its citizens in this manner is Eritrea). For some further pointers on this topic, please see our recent article on Money 101 regarding common U.S. expat tax myths:http://time.com/money/4298634/ex...That being said, the good news is both U.S. domestic tax law and U.S. tax treaties contain a number of provisions that are designed to prevent “double taxation,” or taxation on the same income in both countries (e.g., the U.S. and the new country of residence). Domestic law provisions include the foreign earned income exclusion (for 2016, you can exclude up to $101,300 of your foreign earned income), the foreign housing exclusion, and the foreign tax credit. These provisions, in many cases, can reduce or even eliminate the U.S. federal income tax that would otherwise be due by you. Keep in mind, however, that even if no U.S. tax is owed, a U.S. tax return still generally must be filed in order to benefit from these provisions, and the failure to do so can result in severe penalties. In order to escape the U.S. tax net, you may consider renouncing your citizenship, but this involves a number of unique tax issues. Please see our recent article on CNBC US Home for an analysis of these issues.http://www.cnbc.com/2016/05/17/e...
