Have you studied their markets? Houston has over 36,000 REALTORS who are currently member of the Houston Association of REALTORS, but a much smaller percentage of that number are actually closing real estate transactions. I am sure the odds are similar in Miami. You should do a bit of research to see which city and real estate market will work best for your plans.That said, Houston is still a strong market with consistent performance over many years regardless of national trends. No huge jumps in appreciation so not nearly as volatile as the Miami market in the past. Hurricanes obviously affect both markets. Population Migration to Texas and Florida is expected to continue while housing inventory will remain low - leading to rising home prices but still a positive market for real estate practitioners.I am partial to Texas but have many friends in the Florida market and they love their city and their clients.

If you could get a job in Waterloo with pay even at 80% of the Toronto job, I'd choose Waterloo. I've worked and lived in both cities, Toronto is much more expensive at least for housing. Currently in Waterloo you can still get a house with at least 1,300 square ft for around $400,000, that amount can only get you a small studio like 500 square ft in Toronto, likely even without a parking space. Waterloo is only about 115 km from Toronto, for ball games and entertainment if you're not happy with Waterloo you can always drive to Toronto. Smaller towns are also better for raising family in my opinion.
