Where Could I Go Get A Good Job Such As Tutoring

Where can a high school student find tutoring jobs online?

I’ve compiled a tutoring job search engine that not only includes student inquiries directly to The Knowledge Roundtable, but also pulls jobs from some of the biggest job boards including Indeed, Ziprecruiter, JuJu, and CareerJet. Having access to all of these job boards in one place might come in handy for a tutor searching for jobs. All the big tutoring companies like WyzAnt and Care.com post jobs to these boards, so you’ll see jobs from them in addition to traditional tutoring jobs at schools, learning centers, etc.For online tutoring, you might also consider applying to Tutorpace.com - Online Tutoring, Homework Help for Math, Science, English from Online Tutors.Note that not all tutoring companies will accept high school students as tutors. The Knowledge Roundtable does, so feel free to create a profile there. Unfortunately I don’t know which others welcome high school students.

How do I phrase my tutoring experience on my resume?

One-on-one tutoring to a very poor child once a week. How do I phrase that I have to act with maturity because she looks up to me and I have to kind of teach her manners or correct her verbal mistakes. And I spend time with her, playing games and such.

Should I mention that it's only once a week? This will be going into my employment section since I get paid.

When applying for jobs at tutor time and La Petite Academy how do you pass the assessment?

I've never applied or a position at either of those programs so I'm not familiar with their assessment process, but I'm wondering what your background education is. Have you taken any early childhood development classes? Maybe they are looking to see what your understanding of early childhood development is. Also, how familiar are you with their program? Do you know what curriculum they use and what their philosophy is? Do you know what their policy is regarding discipline? Maybe you could learn more about child development and about the specific program you want to work in and try the assessment test again. Another thing you could try is ask at the center if you could volunteer some time. Spend one or two mornings a week in the classroom for a few weeks and pay attention to how the teachers manage the routine, the children, the kinds of activities they use, how they discipline, etc. Play with the kids, interact constructively with them, and don't be afraid to ask the teachers questions. Ask why they chose that activity, how the children learn from it, why they handle this conflict that way, etc. Carry a notebook and make notes for yourself so you will learn from what you see. And while you are at it, keep track of your volunteer time because that carries some weight, and you may be able to use the time for credit towards classes if you decide to take them. Good luck in your efforts! If this is really what you want to do, don't give up. Keep trying!

Also, who administers this test? Make an appointment to talk with them and let them know you are disappointed in yourself and would love to learn more about their program. Ask them to guide you to a class, a book, or anything else they feel would make you more employable and a better teacher candidate.

Hmm, personality test? Well, I'm not sure I think that's a good idea. I would have failed such a test when I first started. I was quiet, shy, introverted, but positive. Teaching preschool has brought out the best in me I think! Are there any other programs in your area that you could investigate as possible employment options?
