Toshiba laptop query - SD cards cause Blue Screen Of Death?

Hello.

I have a Toshiba Satellite C650-15Z, and when I put in SD cards (so more than one) I get the Blue Screen Of Death!! It was mainly one card but I've just tried another and it happened to that aswell now. I have formatted them, uninstalled drivers, done Windows updates, restarted and tried them on another persons laptop but they load fine on there. And the SD cards aren't locked either.

The only odd thing is after the Blue Screen Of Death, my laptop restarts and I go to the card via My Computer and I can access it, so it's not totally broke!?

Any ideas please??

Hope you can help.
Thanks in advance.

Why can't I delete a file LOST.DIR in an SD card permanently?

By definition this sounds like a directory or folder and not a file. If it is a folder, then it possibly has some hidden file(s) inside the folder that are preventing it from being deleted in Windows or using the rmdir command in Linux.Another possibility suggested by its name is that the operating system is performing error recovery on a corrupt file system and this folder is where lost file fragments are placed for manual inspection and recovery. This is the equivalent of the Unix and Linux lost+found directory.Depending on what unspecified filesystem is involved and what unspecified operating system and device this question relates to, then the actual process whereby the folder is created and what is preventing its permanent deletion may vary. One distinct possibility is that the SD card has developed a fault, possibly as a result of excessive writing to the card, and each time the system boots up or the card is inserted an error is detected and this folder is recreated so that it can hold any detached file fragments that may be recovered. It is probably worth doing a full format (as opposed to a quick format) of the card to see if any errors are reported. If there are errors, this could be the cause of the problem. Ideally you should format the card and write and delete files only in the device for which the card is intended. By all means read the card in a different device, but set the write lock on before inserting the card in a different device.Although not an SD card, recently I had a 2 GB USB pendrive that gave intermittent results. The technology of an SD card and a pendrive is fairly similar. I performed a full format of the drive, which declared there were about 32 MB of bad sectors on the drive. After that I filed the pen drive in the round filing cabinet in the corner of my office and moved on to using a new pendrive.
