How to get inspiration to write a book?
Inspiration is something that is abstract and you cannot just buy it anywhere. For me I get inspired to write when I am angry or when there is feeling of hatred within me. Definitely, authors like us would have variations of impulses that inspire us. We just have to take notice of the world that revolves around us. Then we should appreciate life as it is. We should also take note of the mystery of it. With the keenness of our senses we would have a lot of things to write. With regard to your problem of being in the same thought with other authors I do agree that it poses a problem because we have to respect others' creation. But then again different people see life and the world differently. Just be keen and your idea will be distinct. Here is a tip with regard to inspiration, I started writting when I started reading Paulo Coehlo. He imbued to me a different sense of the world around me. Now, I write a lot because he had awaken the ember of MUSE inside me.

I love to write, I am currently a college student trying to decide between being a journalist or a lawyer. I eventually want to be a full time fiction writer. Any advice?
Is it worth buying a $2,000 couch for a first apartment?
If you like it and can more or less afford it, I can't see any reason not to buy it. Unless you're planning to sell everything you own and leave the country or go into a religious retreat where you can't have personal belongings, you're likely to still need a couch wherever you live. You'll rarely regret buying good things but can often regret buying things you don't really like but bought because they were cheap. A good couch may well last you 25 years or more, a cheaper one probably not. If the couch costs a little more than you were planning to spend, save a little on other things for the place.
