Why do users run gpupdate /force on Windows systems?

a policy is a setting made by a system administrator, and those policies are pushed down to each PC from Active Directory. most policies are updated on a cycle; commonly when a user logs into a PC that's connected to the network.there are times, when updating the group policy on a workstation will correct a problem, so instead of waiting for the group policy to auto-update, you can run a command like "gpupdate /target:computer /force" and that will force an update right now

How do I automate an "automatic start-up task" on Windows XP?

Thanks for A2A :)Some PCs can start themselves up on a schedule; this ability is dependent on the BIOS. When booting up, look for the prompt to enter the BIOS, and press that key. If your PC supports this feature, you'll adjust the settings inside, before loading Windows. As an alternative, set your PC to wake up on a schedule within Windows. Open theScheduled Tasks Control Panel, and open Add Scheduled Task. Click Next, then select the application you want to open. Fill out the scheduling information on the following pages, and click the box to Open advanced properties for this task when I click Finish. Click Finish, then click the Settings tab. Click the option to Wake the computer to run this task. Here are some links that might help you:How Can I Start and Shut Down My Computer Automatically on a Schedule? How to: Schedule computer to turn on and off automaticallySchedule your PC's Startup and Program LaunchAlso, I came across this software:PC auto shut down and turn on

I tried to install Linux and Windows, both dual, in my computer system. For that, I allocated space, but during the installation time it doesn't show. How can I solve it?

I'm sorry, but I don't like any of the answers here. If you have allocated space, does that mean you have left space unpartitioned? Or did you create a second NTFS partition that you intend on using for Linux? The linux installer will not know what to use.You must use the disk partitioner in the Linux installer to create both a swap and root (mount point: /) for use with linux, unless you have already created a EXT4 partition. If you have created it, then you must tell the installer to use that EXT4 as the / mount point. If the second partition you have created is not a Linux type (like NTFS which is Windows native), you can reformat that partition to be a native type. Search the web for native linux partition types if you are curious, but EXT4 is the standard, especially if you are new to Linux or you don't care. Always be very careful that you do not have important data on any partition you are about to reformat.
