Where Does The Royal Marines Band Get It

Who would win in a bar fight, one Royal Marine or one U.S. Marine?

Ignore all the people saying “it wouldn't happen, as they wouldn't be that stupid”Unfortunately, they are that stupid!! I’ve seen plenty of late-night alcohol fuelled fighting involving Royal Marines, it happens loads. It also happens when Brits go abroad too. I've seen British soldiers fighting with German locals!!I like how everyone assumes soldiers are these noble, spirited, humble warriors. They’re not, I was one, we are basically all piss-heads and drink weeeeeyyyy too much alcohol, on most nights we can get away with. There is usually some kind of fight. So the question then, hard to answer, as military training wouldn't really dictate who would win a drunken brawl. It would come down to luck I think, whichever guy couldn't dodge the wild punch first, would lose. This is assuming the fighters are of equal size and weight.

What is the difference between a royal marine commando and a officer?

The officer is an officer

How do the US Marines view the British Royal Marines?

not speaking from experience, but my father said that he was stationed with a few during operation northern wedding. He said they were cool guys, even if they did hang the Union Jack everywhere. As far as training goes, he said they were better trained physically, and they cleared the obstacle course with ease. Weapons training, however, the USMC ruled. overall, he said he really liked the Royal Marines. Likewise, the Royal Marines liked them, because they actually understood their jokes. they thought that the USMCs combat effectiveness was top notch, as well.As far as comparisons go, it's quite stupid to compare them. US Marines, while highly trained, are general purpose infantry, and are more often than not motorized, unless they are on patrol. Royal Marines are heavily specialized amphibious light infantry. you could argue they are “better” but it honestly depends. See, once you get high level military training, it's very hard to compare yourself to a unit that has similar high level training, but with different specializations.they arent marine force recon or marsoc but they are pretty much on par with rangers as far as specialization goes.but anyways, back to my story. He said that the British really got along with the Americans. They had similar senses of humor, and the British actually enjoyed training with people that could actually keep up with them, as I said. A lot of the Scots requested that they give USMC tartans to the Americans.one thing my father said was that the Americans always gave other branches respect. He said that the British did not give anyone else respect but the Americans. The British have a passionate hatred of continentals though. They barely tolerated the Danish and always got into fights with the West Germans. He felt pretty honored that the British would always be friendly to them.

Why can't women join the marines?

LOL, I was about to call you "thick" and announce that women CAN join the marines, but then I realized you were talking about the BRITISH marines. Well, its not as simple as "women are weak!" because thats not true. I've worked with alot of brave women in the military and each of them has just as big a set of balls as any of us! (figuratively of course). But there have been vast and consistant studies for decades on the possible results of women being pinned down under fire along side men. And most of the Bad indicators had nothing to do with women but more to do with how men's performance would be changed by the awareness of a woman being pinned down with them. That coupled with a certain "monthly need" that women have and men dont, as well as various other factors have made it conventional wisdom that women should be kept out of "direct combat jobs."

You have to remember, militaries dont exist for the purpose of Equal Opportunity, but for National Defense. And although, with that in mind, the military strives to maintain equal opportunity, it must be placed one step below efficiency and effectiveness on the priority ladder.

BTW, I've worked with the Brits on the AWACS and you guys ROCK!
