What is the meaning of "where art thou"?
As others have noted, “where art thou” is literally “where are you”.But the most common place people have (mis)heard that phrase is from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, where the line by Juliet is actually “Wherefore art thou Romeo?”, which means, “Why are you Romeo?”, *not* “Where are you, Romeo?”. Juliet is bemoaning the fact that her love, Romeo, is from a family forbidden to her by an old feud. The next line, “deny thy father, and thy name” makes that clear.

We just saw this scene in class and although it was damn hilarious, they didn't actually kill cows did they? Like what is he doing man. Shootin up cows like he think he some thug.

No they did not. All songs were dubbed over. The voices behind the Soggy Bottom Boys are well-known bluegrass musicians: Union Station's Dan Tyminski (lead on "Man of Constant Sorrow"), Nashville songwriter Harley Allen, and the Nashville Bluegrass Band's Pat Enright. Tim Blake Nelson, playing Delmar O'Donnell in the movie (one of the Soggy Bottom Boys), sang the lead vocal himself for the song "In the Jailhouse Now" but not for any other songs in the movie.
