Where I Can Buy Petroleum In Small Quantity

Err, why am I answering a question about Chemistry again? Oh, right.Anyway, in laboratories, petrol and other petrol-based chemicals are checked via sophisticated instruments which I frankly don’t have much idea about. Some of the standard test in a laboratory are as follows[1] :Bomb calorimeter test (hey, I know this one!)Atomic absorbtion spectrometerGas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (geh, these words keep getting more and more complex)Aniline point apparatus (this too sounds familiar…)K viscosity bath (for density I am guessing)And lots and lots and lots more which I don’t feel like typing anymore. Refer to the footnotes bruv.If you want to check how you (you, the person called NIDHISH) can test for the quality of petrol you get at a petrol pump, here are some quick pointers[2]:Use a filter paper and drop some petrol drops on it. If it evaporates in a small time and leaves no stain, then it is pure.Burn it. If it burns immediately with a very bright flame, then it is pure. If the combustion is slow and the flames are not that bright, then there’s kerosene in it.Note: Don’t try and burn anything or anyone with petrol, just so you can test out its purity. My answer does not condone arson of any form, and the author (that’d be me) expressly denounces any arson activities by anyone who felt compelled to burn everything to the ground in the name of science. With that out of the way, here’s more burning for you.Pour some petrol on a copper wire gauze. If it burns, then it contains kerosene as impurity. Again, don’t try and throw impure petrol on a chain mail. Plij.As for quantity, get a canister and ask the attendant to fill it. If the meter corresponds to the capacity of your canister, then the meter is not tampered with. Otherwise, call the relevant authorities.Lastly, no arson please. It can be tempting to see the flesh burned to a black, crispy mass of nothing, and your scientific curiosity might invoke the strangest of feelings in you, but for the love of all things that are good (and not burned), don’t go on an arson rampage. Plij.P.S.: Before anyone can chide me for my stupidity, I’ll make it clear that the arson part is a joke. A fucking joke, made because the author (it’d still be me) was kinda bored. So, yeah.Footnotes[1] Petroleum Products Testing, oil Analysis Labs[2] How to test to check the purity of Petrol? - Top Post

Where can I buy petroleum tar?

Its kind of hard to buy in small quantities, but you might be able to get hold of some : depends what you want it for.

If you are talking about pitch to waterproof a roof, which is based on asphalt, a particular type of petroleum tar, any DIY store will sell you some.

If you want real AR or VR (or long residure / short residue if you are in the US), you won't be able to buy a small quantity but the Public Relations department of a local Refinery might be able to help you with a sample. Again, it depends what you want it for.

Another possibility is to walk up to a group of guys asphalting a road with a bucket.

If you do get hold of some, be very careful handling this stuff. Its often solid at room temperature and when hot its much more dangerous than it looks. An asphalt burn is very nasty.

The biggest problems in acquiring LN are its storage, which requires expensive Dewar vacuum canisters, and ensuring that the constantly boiling liquid does not create a hazard by diluting out the normal oxygen levels in the atmosphere of an enclosed space, thereby creating a dangerous breathing environment. That said, you should be able to purchase small quantities directly from BOC or Air Products who both operate offices and laboratories on the outskirts of London. I would also be inclined to negotiate a small purchase with any establishment that itself regularly purchases and stores LN in large steel and vacuum-lined vessels. Obvious places are universities, colleges and metal working industries, inter alia. Simply travelling through an industrial estate will quickly identify those companies that store bulk LN in large white cylinders often the height of 2 storey buildings. If stored for a lengthy period of more than a few days, be mindful that LN is capable of becoming contaminated with oxygen from the atmosphere by condensing into the lower boiling temperature of LN. LOx in LN can provide a violent support for combustion as well as causing painful burns when splashing on to skin surfaces, unlike LN. It is for these reasons that liquid air is no longer used for cryogenic purposes.

Can one buy liquid nitrogen in small quantities?

You can buy it with quantity as small as 10L.

However, you have to buy the container and that is where the expense goes. The container suitable for liquid Nitrogen must by stainless steel inside to stand the cold of the liquid and it must be vacuum insulated to keep the liquid not all change into gas. Then the container must have a license to say that they are safety enough to use. You can check out the container at suppliers for cryogenics equipment such as Taylor Wharton, Cryoquip, Cryolor etc.

Once you have the container, you can contact your local industrial gas supplier and they will sell it to you, price of liquid something like US$2.00/L

Anyone know where I can buy Un-Petroleum Jelly?

I don't know of anything thats $5 or less. But try a new face wash and wash your face every night before bed. I used to have such bad skin and nothing ever seemed to work, this went on for 4 years. I have really oily skin and had zits over zits and they hurt. UGH! But then I recently found something at CVS. It's by Alba and it's called something like "sea scrub". It's in a pine green bottle. It works wonders! I haven't had a "bad' zit in MONTHS! My face in now rally clear and I have a pretty glow. All I have are tiny little ones that basically only bother my because I'd like to have COMPLETELY flawless skin haha. But really! Try Alba "Sea Scrub" within a month you will have a really clear face.

When, a carbanic compound (like alken, alkins ,alkyn and aromatic and etc) is not soluble in polar substance ( like water ). Methenol is carbanic compound, it's not soluble in water. A carbanic compound is mix in onther carbanic compound & polar substance is mix in onther polar substance. So the methenol is mix in petrol, kerosene( alken ).Thanks for reading…

Yes, its illegal to buy petrol in an empty plastic bottle from a petrol pump in India but as per section 8 of Petroleum Rules 2002, you can buy in Glassware or Stoneware bottle up to 1 liters and in metal cans up to 25 liters without any licence. There are several reasons for it why petrol is not given in plastic bottles:1. Static Charge: Flowing fluid creates static charge and in plastic bottles the charge keeps on accumulating. Now, if the bottle comes in certain distance of a conductor or conducting environment thermal discharge occurs and if oxygen rich air is available there the petrol gets fire. Now this is the most dangerous situation as you will not even know and the petrol would have ignited itself.2. Plastic dissolves in Petrol: The mineral water bottles are made up of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and pet dissolves in petrol. So while storing petrol in PET bottles the plastic may dissolve and will leak creating a dangerous situation.3. Unsocial Elements of the society: The unsocial elements use petrol to make petrol bombs, burn bikes, cars, buses with petrol and create nuisance so to keep a check on these activities petrol is not given in plastic bottles.4. Explosive licence limitation: Petrol Pumps in India are administered by PESO (Petroleum and Explosive Safety Organization) which forms all the Petroleum Rules. As per section 8 of Petroleum Rules 2002, you can carry petrol upto 1 litres in glassware or stone ware bottle or upto 25 litres in metal cans from a petrol pump without any licence. But you can’t use plastic bottle for the same.and to explaining all these reasons in detail I have made a 5 minute video (in English):Apart from that there are quite a lot of misconceptions in India about the difference between normal petrol and premium petrol like Speed, Xtra Premium, Power, V Power etc and that these premium petrols increase the mileage of your vehicle. So I have also made a 6 minute video (in Hindi) which will enable you to differentiate between these petrols, choose which one is best for you car, bike or scooter, when to use premium fuel and how much to use it.Please have a look.Reference:Petroleum Rule 2002: http://petroleum.nic.in/sites/de...HPCL Retail Outlets, IndiaSpeed Fuel, Petrol Pump| High Performance Petrol| Fuel Efficiencyhttps://www.iocl.com/Products/Ga...https://www.shell.in/motorists/s...
