Am I racist?I can only imagine how many persons thought racism was wrong and bought the records as well as went to the concerts of great entertainers such as Dorothy Dandrige and Billie Holiday. Yet despite it all, would never agree with them sharing the same elevator as them or going into the same pool as them. I never understood how you can be a fan of someone and yet not want to associate yourself with that person. Even hundreds of miles from the South and Jim Crow, the racism is appalling — following her act, Dandridge is “forbidden” from speaking with any of the audience, and cannot use the elevator, the hotel lobby, the swimming pool, even the bathrooms. Hotels in Rosarito or Ensenada, Baja California Mexico?
Don't let the Baja bashers get you down. Hotel Califia is very nice, I've heard good reports, and the ocean views from the bar cantina are some of the best in the world...nice art gallery too. Old Rosarito Beach Hotel is right out of Key Largo, the paintings on the ceiling in the beach bar ala 20s south sea island motif, very funky. Lots the shoppping places closeby. Grand Baja Resort is very busy, Americanized, and walking distance to the Lobster Village and next door is our favorite New York Deli and internet connections at Click On.com. For a spa, I recommend the Las Rocas near Puerto Nuevo, great service, pool and jacuzzi, outdoor bar with a real grass lawn, a rarity in Baja. I think La Fonda is booked throughout the summer, (my girl friend works there) but you could try Hotel La Mision nearby. Not four star, but right on the beach with 1.50USD margaritas. Don't pay attention to the anti- third world scaredy cats, they never have a good time anyway. Bien Viaje

Which is the best place to go on a weekend Vacation from Toronto to United States?
O well, the first place that comes to mind is Niagara Falls area. The falls itself and the casinos therein ! Niagara on the lake also but moreso in summer ! The finger lakes wine district in New York also comes to mind but a bit of a farther drive ! You can visit the vineyards here and wine sample. There is the rock and roll hall of fame in Cleveland but again more of a drive. Another would be Cooperstown New York baseball hall of fame but this is just outside of Syracuse. Or the football hall of fame in Canton Ohio and again a bit more of a drive. But these are all doable in a weekend especially a long, holiday weekend. Civil war sites such as Antietam in Maryland or Gettysburg in Pennsylvania would be a little more out of reach. But oh so interesting if you get a chance with perhaps a full week off. And I cannot leave without mentioning Detroit as I hail from Windsor Ontario and grew up across the river from Detroit. There are three casino hotels here. Greektown, MGM Grand and Motor City. Plus you have all the four major league sports teams here with beautiful state of the art stadiums. I love thus. Cleveland has all but hockey, which you have in Columbus. And I’ve just about run out of stuff here and I’m sure I’ve missed a lot. There’s also Cedar Point amusement park on the lake in Sandusky Ohio and King’s Islsnd amusement park just north of Cincinnati. Plus baseball or football in Cincinnati. And Pittsburgh with all sports but hockey. But we are getting into farther drives here for just a weekend. For sports, Detroit is your best bet ! Now if you’re talking culture and shopping and of course all the sports then I suggest Chicago. It is a gorgeous city. The magnificent mile Michigan avenue cuts through the heart of downtown. I would definitely recommend Chicago. All the sports teams. Two baseball, one north side, one south. But the myriad of superb steak houses. Steaks here are absolutely delicious so I hope you’re not vegetarian. There’s also a seafood spot, Hugo Frog’s which shares a kitchen with Gibson’s Steak House but they’re actually two separate entities. Chicago being about 9 hours drive for you, is a must ! Shopping on the magnificent mile is endless from expensive name brands to the cheaper mid range shoes, clothes and what not. And I hope I have been of some help. Shit, did I forget the closest place ? Poor Buffalo. alas, they always get passed over. And yes, they have hockey and football too. Sorry Buffalo !
