Where Is A Site I Can Use To Look Up Potions .

How could a Love Potion be used for the good in the Harry Potter universe?

I don’t think that a Love Potion, by definition, could be used for good.Love is possibly the highest and purest of human feelings; to use a potion to make a counterfeit version is just wrong. Whether the person receiving the potion consents or not is beside the point: What matters is that the Love Potion is creating an artificial obsession, more like lust than love.Actually, the truly sinister nature of Love Potions is sort of underrated in the Harry Potter universe, as though they’re just methods that lovesick schoolgirls employ to capture the boy of their dreams. If you really stop and think about what a Love Potion does, it’s enough to make you sick. I don’t even want to think of what I might do or say under the influence of such a potion (by the way—I think the implications of the Imperius Curse are underrated too!).There’s just no good application for such a potion. Remember that the only person mentioned to have been conceived under the effects of a Love Potion (even though there probably were a lot of others) was Lord Voldemort—not that he turned out badly or anything, but still…

I need a list of potion ingredients that a witch would use, they need to be very strange and unusual?

I agree with maiingan2, why not tell the truth instead of portraying us always as bad "evil" people!! The only strange name I will give you is Dragon's Blood, which is the resin taken from the leaves of an exotic tree called Draco Dracaena... I have such a tree and mix it in powder form with frankincense and myrrh for physic protection...
I suggest you get yourself a few books and then you will know what most of us use, and what we use them for...
Here are some suggestions :-
Magical Herbalism ___________}
Incense, Oils & Brews ________} All by Scott Cunningham...
Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs _}
The Encyclopedia of Magickal Ingredients___by Lexa Rosean...
Armed with books like this you will be able portray the truth, and by doing so you educate the ignorant misguided people who still think it their right to persecute us....
In Light... )O(

Why did Snape not publish his own potions book?

My thought is that Snape was too consumed by his one-sided unrequited love for Lily to do anything worthwhile with his actual talents. It's obvious that he was an extremely talented with potions having made up his own spells and made the existing potion recipes better. But he devoted his complete energy first to the Dark Arts, then to his obsession over Lily and after her death, to the whole charade of being an undercover agent for Dumbledore. I mean the amount of time he spent stalking Harry and making his life miserable, he could have published as many books as Gilderoy Lockhart. Also, he seemed to like being unnoticed and publishing a book would have brought some amount of fame which I don't think he wanted.Also, he was more interested in being a DADA teacher rather than Potions and this could also be a reason why he did not pursue any significant achievement in potions. If you observe his teaching methods, he didn't evoke any interest in the students for his subject. Contrast that with Lupin who took much less number of classes but made the students fall in love with the subject. Snape simply did not have the passion for potions after he completed school. Even in school, Professor Slughorn barely remembers him being good at potions even though he clearly remembers Lily. Snape never came forward and demonstrated his knowledge... He just secretly wrote them down in the book. Such a waste of talent!

What would you smell in the Amortentia love potion?

Well… at the current moment I would have no idea, as no crushes are apparent right now. But three smells I love are:The smell of burning wood. Oh god man, this is the stuff. Doesn't matter if it's an open fire or simply burning wood, that smell intoxicates me and I don't think I'll ever get enough. When I smell burnt wood, memories of camping and fun with family immediately comes to mind and I love it!The smell of the fresh sea air. There’s nothing better, Rushes of memories also come to mind.Strawberries. Fond memories come to mind with this one as well. My grandpa was a big gardener, and everywhere my grandparents lived, he managed to grow a beautiful garden of flowers, fruit and vegetables. One tradition we had ever strawberry season, was going around to their house and running out into the garden, and finding several bright red strawberries in the pot.It looked a bit like this. Many photos depict us growing older through the years, picking strawberries with him, and every time I bite into the sweet delight that is a strawberry, I will always remember him.

What are the most valuable potions in Skyrim?

Best potions to make, to raise your skill level, are from the most common ingredients. You can collect something like Mountain flowers everywhere you go. DO use 3 ingredients each time, but don't waste your good materials. Wheat and giant Toes are not very common. Make 100 crummy potions from the most common ingredients, raise your skill, sell the potions, get the perks you want, THEN use the good ingredients to make the potions you actually want to use. + Alchemy gear helps and if you find combinations that result in multiple effects (even if they are lousy effects) are even better.

EDIT: The most expensive single effects are Paralyze, Damage Magicka Regen, Invisibility, and Slow. Potions with these effects will give the most gold and XP. Although you will probably not make very many of them as the ingredients are uncommon/rare and expensive.

If there is a love potion that would make someone you love fall in love with you for the rest of their lives, would you give it to him/her?

Absolutely not.First, it would violate that person's consent. Consent happens to be important to me. I don't want a partner who does not freely choose to be with me.Second, I don't have to settle. I'm not desperate. I don't live in a world of scarcity. I don't believe I need to force, trick, or manipulate someone into being with me. There are many amazing, delightful women who do choose to be with me; I can't imagine feeling like I needed to resort to coercing someone to love me.Third, if I coerced someone to love me, I would always know it wasn't genuine. Why would I want love that wasn't genuine?Fourth, if I coerced someone into loving me, knowing it wasn't their choice, I would not be able to live with myself. Whoever I'm sharing a bed with, I still need to be able to look at myself in the mirror.

What are your tips to make potions (for small kids)?

this is the perfect time to teach children portion control. the serving size is the volume of food that can be held in the palm of the kid’s hand. at playtime do this: have the kid fill their hand with, say clay. then measure the volume or weight. this is roughly the serving size. as the kid physically grows, increase the portion.

Do potions and spells really work?

No. "Potions" and "spells" are not real, nor do they work. They can be dangerous, however, especially "potions", because they are apt to contain natural ingredients that can interact with common medications, or can cause allergic reactions if a person is allergic to the ingredient.
Several deaths have been reported from people who take herbal remedies which have dangerous drug-to-drug interactions with other medicines those people may be on.
Magic, no matter what anyone tells you, is not real. There are NO magical remedies for the events of your life, and no "quick-fixes". The only way to achieve any goal in this world is through dedication, hard work, and sacrifice of time, energy, and other goals.

What to use to color the liquid in decorative potion bottles so they look cool?

Perhaps you could try some ink that is blacklight sensitive. Place a blacklight under the bottles or in a position that will make them glow, but not blind you. I think you'll get that look you want through it, but it may take a little time to figure out a good look for it. Or perhaps you could use some glow in the dark ink or dye or just some really "bright" ink colors to dye the water. Maybe, and this may seem strange, but what about putting different Powerade or Gatorade in the bottles (assuming they are clear of course)?
