Where Is Irn-bru Sold

Irn - Bru in America?

You get it in some shops, but usually just little shops that import a bunch of random stuff from Britain. I spent a summer in Canada and saw it once. Shame like. Those poor North Americans don't know what they're missing!

Irn Bru-America?

Irn-Bru is only available in America in small quantities at speciality shops, the US refused the company that makes it (Barrs) from setting up a factory in the US as it would not reveal the secret recipe, under the same legislation that keeps Coca-Cola and Pepsi's secret recipies a secret. (Some say It's because the big companies didn't want another major drink taking up a slice of the market share?)

Irn-Bru, Diet Irn-Bru, and Irn-Bru 32 (the high caffine drink equivalet to Red Bull, so called as Irn-Bru has 32 individual flavourings in its secret recipe) are all available here in Scotland and I urge anyone to try it if you can.

But be aware that Irn-Bru is quite fragile to heat. In many Countrys outside the UK you can get Irn-Bru but it has not been refrigerated on route and the tempreture has got to high, this turns the Irn-Bru off and then it tastes awful despite later chilling, All forms of Irn-Bru must be kept at low tempretures at all times to keep it fresh, I have travelled to many hot countrys and while there tried to get it, only to find that when I get some, It hasn't been stored or transported properly and has gone off despite still being before its best before date.

Another point is that Irn-Bru tastes slightly different in its different containers! in order from worst to best...Plastic PET bottles,Plastic medium size bottles,Plastic 1 Litre, Plastic 2 Litre, Plastic 3 Litre, Cans, glass bottles. there is a technical reason for this, but that's another long story which I'll not get into now.

The advertising slogan "made in Scotland from girders" has long since been replaced with "Original and Best" as many have tried to copy it but none have succeded in coming close, the slogan made from girders was a play on one of the ingrediants as Irn-Bru contains a small ammount of Ammonium Ferric Citrate which is a form of Iron.

A sort of rusty lemonade is a way of discribing the taste or heaven in a glass or yummmy.

Personally I have been drinking Diet Irn-Bru (tastes better that full sugar Irn-Bru) since it came out and drink about 4 Litres a day of the stuff, it's just Great, and if you get the chance to come to Scotland to try it, get a 750ml Glass bottle of Diet Irn-Bru that is freezing cold on a hot summers day. It really can't be beaten!

Do you drink Irn Bru?

I love irn bru - it's like crack.... so I hear. Seriously though I think I ike it because I've got a serious sweet tooth and my brothers like it too (probably for the same reason). Each to their own though!

What countries can you get Irn Bru?

I travelled through Scotland for 10 days, and I drank Irn Bru as much as I could. It's such a unique tasting soda pop, that I didn't want to forget what it tasted like so I could describe it to people when I returned to Canada. The best description I can come up with for it is...a sodafied version of Popye cigarette candy sticks. Now, back in Canada I seek it out everywhere. The larger Zehrs stores have it here, and you can find it in some speciality stores. In my town we have a Scottish goods store which of course stocks it.

Irn bru, Coca cola or sprite????

IRN-BRU!

COCA-COLA ARE NOT VERY PEOPLE! IRN-BRU LOCAL SCOTTISH COMPANY! KEEP IT THAT WAYYYY

NO SURRENDER

Useful fast to add:

"In California 2003 Irn-Bru was banned as AG Barr would not tell the FSA what the secret ingredient was. In fact the original FSA statement was lies and later AG Barr resealed the following. "AG Barr complied with the FSA in California, to have the product later banned. The FSA cannot justify it's actions. The real reason lies with Coca-Cola company. Who when Irn-Bru was introduced had a slump in sales. The FSA were working for Coca-Cola company, Not the American people." << AMERICA SUCKSss

What's IN BRU?? IRN BRU? something like that?

Irn bru is Scotlands other national drink..
the other is whisky..
Irn bru outsells coke and pepsi in Scotland.
Irn bru is popular throughout the UK.
IRN BRU IS great hangover cure..
Irn bru is best from a glass bottle...(only sold in Scotland).
Irn bru is sold in America ,though not everywhere.
same for europe

Irn bru also make tizer
Irn bru is a Glasgow drink.
The secret of irn bru is the fact that it gives its drinker strength due to the iron , the special recipe is made by using steel girders and leaving them to rust in fresh Scottish water taken from loch katrine in the Katrine hills in the highlands just above Glasgow...it is also where Glasgow gets it drinking water from..
IRN BRU MADE IN SCOTLAND FROM GIRDERS..

Oh yes!It is the incomparable “other” national drink. It has a taste like no other and, until the recent reformulation to allow for the sugar tax, an unmatched ability to soothe a hangover. It is neither cola nor fruit flavour, nor does it taste of “bubblegum” it had an undefined quality that sets it apart. The only reason it has been eclipsed in Scotland by cola is cola’s ability to be mixed with spirits. Irn Bru doesn’t really do that unless used to make ghastly blended scotch like Bells or Grouse remotely drinkable.

Irn Bru's primary flavorings are ammonium ferric citrate, quinine and caffeine. The quinine, caffeine and citrus flavors are easy to get by mixing caffeinated lemonade with tonic water, but ammonium ferric citrate has a characteristic flavor that isn't just citrus - it tastes a bit like rust, hence the name of the drink. I don't know of anything sold in the U.S. that uses this flavoring

Is Irn Bru popular around the world?

Only place I have ever seen it for sale outside of these shores was in Toronto several years back. When I visited a couple of years later there was no trace of it... just couldn't have caught on.
I also went to a place in America that was showcasing drinks of the world (stuff from Russia, China and the like) and it was nowhere to be seen. Mind you, neither was Tizer or Vimto LOL
I really think it is one of those things you have to be raised on.
