Where Is King Tut Coffin

Why is King Tut a 'big deal'?

The biggest reason is that this tomb was found almost intact, a great rarity in Egyptology. We like to say that the ancient Egyptians had all sorts of beliefs about the pharaohs and the afterlife and cosmic order — but tomb robbery was big, big business in ancient Egypt, throughout antiquity.A fraction of the Amherst Papyrus: a court transcript from the trial of tomb robbers under Ramses IX (about 200 years after Tut)Besides the obvious theft of gold and precious objects, the robbers were just as destructive (and prone to casual vandalism) as their modern counterparts. The robbers of Tomb 10A just threw aside the wooden and clay objects they didn’t care about — which had the side effect of preserving them for later archaeologists.Tut’s tomb actually was robbed — in fact, it was robbed twice, the first time within a few years of its completion. However the authorities seem to have caught at least one band of the robbers and repaired and re-sealed the tomb. The incredible richness of the tomb isn’t, in fact, complete — according to inventories at the site, about two-thirds of the jewelry interred with the king is gone. However it’s still far a greater treasure than anything found in one place elsewhere in Egypt. More importantly, its generally good condition gives a far better picture of Pharaonic life than any other find.Besides the drama and obvious appeal of the precious contents, the contents have an immediacy that can’t be matched. In the century since Tut’s tomb was opened we’ve only found one other intact tomb — which, evidently, was a re-burial of mummies to protect them from robbers.Besides the treasure, Tut is also an important historical figure. His predecessor, Akhenaten, is one of the most interesting and unusual of Pharaohs; his reign was a time of religious and cultural upheaval which pitted the untraditional pharaoh against the traditional Egyptian elites. Tut was the figurehead of the restoration: taking the throne at only 9, his reign saw the re-establishment of the traditional order and the undoing of Akhenaten’s revolution.

Who was King Tut?

King Nebkheperura Tutankhamun (King Tut for short) is probably the most famous of all the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, yet he was a short lived and fairly insignificant ruler during a transitional period in history.
Little was known of Tutankhamun prior to Howard Carters methodical detective work, but the discovery of his tomb and the amazing contents it held ultimately ensured this boy king of the Immortality he sought.

It is believed that Akhenaten and a lesser wife named Kiya were the parents of Tutankhaten, as Tutankhamun was known at first.

Soon after the deaths of Akhenaten and Smenkhkare, Tutankhaten became a Boy King at the age of about nine. He married a slightly older Ankhesenpaaten, one of the daughters of Akhenaten and Nefertiti.

After the ousting of the Aten power base they changed their names to Tutankhamun and Ankhesenamun to reflect the return to favour of the Amun hierarchy.

Due to his young age, Tutankhamun would not have been responsible for the real decision making. This would have been handled by two high officials, Ay (possibly the father of Nefertiti) and Horemheb, commander-in-chief of the army.

Sometime around the ninth year of Tutankhamun's reign, possibly 1325 B.C., he died. There is evidence of an injury to the skull that had time to partly heal. He may have suffered an accident, such as falling from his horse-drawn chariot, or perhaps he was murdered. No one knows. Ay oversaw Tutankhamun's burial arrangements which lasted 70 days.

Due to Tutankhamun having no heirs, Ay became Pharaoh and took Ankhesenamun as his queen to legitimise his rule. What happened to her after that is not known. Ay ruled for only four years and after his death Horemheb grabbed power. He soon obliterated evidence of the reigns of Akhenaten, Tutankhamun and Ay and substituted his own name on many monuments.

How did King Tut impact us today?

King Tut was an Egyptian Pharaoh of the Eighteenth dynasty during the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom. his original name, Tutankhaten, means "Living Image of Aten", while Tutankhamun means "Living Image of Amun". often the name Tutankhamun was written Amen-tut-ankh, meaning "living image of Amun", due to scribal custom which most often placed the divine name at the beginning of the phrase in order to honor the divine being. he is possibly also the Nibhurrereya of the Amarna letters. he was likely the eighteenth dynasty king 'Rathotis', who according to Manetho, an ancient historian, had reigned for nine years - a figure which conforms with Flavius Josephus' version of Manetho's Epitome.

the 1922 discovery by Howard Carter of Tutankhamun's intact tomb received worldwide press coverage and sparked a renewed public interest in ancient Egypt, for which Tutankhamun's burial mask remains the popular face.

I had a dream about King Tutankhamun?

well see for a while now I have been trying to make sense of it but could not.
it's odd from the first time I ever saw him or more his golden coffin mask.
I fell straight in love with him and had this strong feelings for him. like I have know him before.
what in real facts I have not know him before.

but the dream was odd.
see a while back now when I was 15 I think yeah about that.
I kept having the same dream over and over again. and I did feel freaked out abit.

see in the dream I kept dreaming about what king Tutankhamun face looked like under the golden mask. what I saw each time when I would open up his coffin. is the same face. now for the freaky part is the same face I kept seeing was what his face really did look like.
to why I say I felt abit freaked out. because how could one person know what someone looks like if no one has seen him since they found him in 1929 I think they said. and when I was watching the tv and Dr.Zahi Hawass did a programe on his family back ground. he also said no one has ever seen him since he was found.

but also I kept having dreams about having his children and the rebirth of him too

I wonder if anyone had any ideas or thoughts that would make sense to why I keep having such dreams.. not that I am saying they are bad dreams :)

Thank you ^-^
