Where Is Outside City Limits Of My Area So I Can Go Shoot My Gun

Can you use guns in another place besides a shooting range? For example, shooting your (long) gun on your own property in a rural area

It depends on local and county ordinances. Some rural areas are more densely occupied than others, and as such are likely to have more restrictions on where and under what circumstance you can fire your weapon. Exactly where in the county you live may also affect it. For example, in Texas, we have restrictions on firing your weapon in national parks and wildlife reserves (obviously), but that also means that if you live near one, you’d have to be careful too. They aren’t likely to look kindly upon you shooting a mountain lion on the reserve, even on the border of the reserve, and thinking it’s totally cool because you were in your backyard when you fired the shot. You also wouldn’t want to go onto someone’s property and shoot your weapon. And you have to be careful because in the no-joke boonies, property lines aren’t always well-marked (so if you’re, say, hunting and you cross into someone else’s property, you could get yourself into trouble). So always make sure you’re aware of where the property line is and don’t fire near it or toward it (onto someone else’s property). Legal or not, if you shoot or almost shoot someone or even scare the neighbors, bad stuff might happen (and that may or may not involve the authorities). Also remember that legality doesn’t always matter. If your crotchety old neighbor who goes to bed at 8 p.m. calls the sheriff’s office, they might come out because you’re disturbing the peace. Even if they don’t ticket you, in a town with that few people, you don’t really want to be on the sheriff’s radar. No one is likely to call the sheriff if a couple of shots are fired for a purpose (i.e., there’s a skunk in your backyard). But if you empty the damn thing firing into the air in the middle of the night, which is bound be be accompanied by celebrating on a holiday, your neighbors may not be super-thrilled.Then there are also restrictions of specific locations — institutions of learning, parking lots and driveways or streets, so where your home is in proximity to these things matters (on school grounds and often within a specific distance thereof, you can’t even carry them, but you can carry in other places so long as you don’t fire). But if you’re out in BFE with acres and acres of land and your neighbors are very far away, it’s probably fine. Just be neighborly and use your noggin.

Where can i shoot guns beside gun ranges?

more then 300 feet from a residence or occupied building outside of city limits. even if the cops came they really couldn't do anything as long as you weren't doing something stupid. You really should have someone with alot of experience with weapons with you if you have no idea what your doing. Point your gun away from people...watch your muzzle direction treat every gun as if it was loaded...be sure your not pointing it at people who are on the other side of the hill or something. over all follow common sense.

if you need really specific answers check out this... http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/LG/htm/LG.229.htm
(i dont live in texas and figured all this out withing 10 seconds of a simple google search no offense but if you cant figure out how to search something so simple and if you dont have any experience which it seems like you dont please dont use firearms and if you HAVE to go shooting take someone who knows what they are doing)

Can I shoot my gun at home?

Generally the discharge of a firearm in city limits generally not ok.. Most localities have ordinances against that. If you live in a rural area that is a different matter and then depends on the county/state laws as a guide.

Shooting a firearm in your front lawn is different if your front lawn is 40 acres in the middle of no where versus 10,000 SF in the middle of Denver, Omaha, KC, or other city. I grew up in a small town, 20,000 people, the ordinance disallowed the discharge of firearms within the city limits, however a 1/4 mile outside of city limits we could hunt pheasants..

the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia is notorious for having a bunch of twits creating nanny state elitist style antigun laws.. You'd need to check your laws before you wind up having your weapons confiscated and a felony on your record.

Can i shoot a gun on my property?

Where is the bullet going to go?

In Alaska, where is it legal to shoot guns and rifles besides a shooting range?

In Alaska you can shoot any where you want except; within city limits, National Parks, Preserves, off any public roadway or private property with out permission.

Basically the best place to shoot would be on state land, BLM land or national forest.

And instead of getting out maps and trying to find a spot, just call the Alaska State Troopers. They are nice folks and would be able to recommend a place near you to target practice.

Wow some wacky answers! First of all Alaska does NOT require any license to own or use a firearm. You don’t have to have a hunting license to target shoot. ALL National parks are off limits to firearms period! Alaska has few laws to restrict gun ownership and use. You can carry a concealed firearm here with no permit.
All you have to do is drive out of town to state owned land or National Forest and shoot all you want as long as you are away from any highway.
But again if you just call the State Troopers they will know a place near you and save you all the hassle. Or you can call the local fish and game. They like people asking as they tire of people shooting in the wrong areas.

Gets me how people who dont even live here think they know it all! Jezzzzzz!

Can I shoot my BB gun in my backyard in Texas?

Ok I'm 15 and very responsible, and take safety seriously. Well I have a bb handgun (325 fps) and I was shooting it in my backyard while my neighbor behind us came outside and told me she didn't want to have to call the cops on me for shooting my BB gun because it is against the law. Now is this true? I've read around and it seems it isn't , as long as it is my property (which it is) and I'm not putting someone in danger. I've only shot my BB gun a few times there. I will say both me and my neighbor have a chain-linked fence so bb's could go through, although I have a target with a steel back and I place the target behind a shed ( about 7x9) .
She did have her grandson back there ( may e about 5 or 6) and I guess he was startled by the noise of the gun (it's Co2 really loud) and do that's how she knew.
I just want to know if this okay, and if I would be charged for shooting one on my property.

PS I do not have a orange tip on the end of my BB gun, although my airsidt foes, which I can shoot that right?

What are some outdoor places where I can legally shoot a firearm?

I've answered this question before but here's my answer again. Your best bet is to contact the Bureau of Land Management or BLM office. Google search that and you'll find thier website then you'll find links to all of thier offices in your state. Pick the office that covers the area location of the area you live in, or the area where you may want to shoot. Call them and simply ask them WHERE IS IT LEGAL FOR ME TO GO SHOOTING “ they will be able to tell you where to go for any gun related activities. I called the BLM OFFICERS for the area I wanted to go shooting in and they were really helpful. They not only told me where it was legal to do it, they also mailed to me several maps of every place in that district where it was legal to either Hunt, or general recreational shooting, and other gun stuff places where it was generally legal to say hike while carrying firearms. Things like that. You'd be surprised at how many different places I found that were set aside specifically for gun activity.

Can I shoot my firearm on my private property in California?

A great deal would depend upon the size of your property and its general location. In can safely be assumed that discharging a weapon inside of a city's limit, but not on a licensed outdoor range, will be forbidden. This may include all types of firearm-like devices, including air rifles, starter pistols and flare guns. Checking your local ordinances and/or calling your local police department will provide you with the most accurate answer. If your property is rural, if you have a substantial backstop and you have things clearly marked, it's unlikely that a rural property of 10+ acres would not be able to discharge weapons on their land. While there are likely restrictions related to hunting that would take precedent (not shooting across the road, not shooting across rivers or streams, no shooting at/around rail lines, etc.) since trespassers are not expected to be on your property, if you have your land posted, they are assuming the risk that they may be injured if they trespass. Simple answer: Outside of cities/towns -OKInside of cities and towns: No way

Are blank gun illegal to shoot in your back yard or in a house?

Though the act of shooting the blanks may technically not be illegal (could be argued that it's not discharging a firearm within city limits or other jurisdictions which prohibit such actions since it's basically just a noisemaker), you may get some static from the LEOs and if they press it you may get some sort of charge for inducing panic or some such business.

Best bet would to go inquire with your local LEO (sheriff, police, what have you).
