Where Is Teen Leaders Of California

What is T.L.C? (Teen Leaders of California?)?

so, yesturday i got a flyer for T.L.C - Teen Leaders of California- it said this:

you can earn $175 to $375 per week, fundraising in our self help program. T.L.C works best for kids in middle school. Fundraise minimal hours are 3 days a week, mostly weekends. We train with adult supervision. You will learn valuable communication skills and great work ethic.

I was thinking about joining but i need more information. If you are or have been in T.L.C could you tell me more about it? Thanks

What are the pros and cons of life in California?

The Pros: There is plenty to do. We have beaches, forests, desserts, mountains, cities, lakes, you name it. Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco are great. People in this state tend to be more liberal, more tolerant, and more accepting of each other's differences. People care about environmental issues, the weather is generally nice and sunny. To be honest, there are so many things to do and see, you never run out of things to do. The Cons: Housing is very expensive. Taxes are outrageous. Traffic is a nightmare. The weather can be unbearably hot. The gun laws are some of the strictest in the nation. Many people have to work very hard just to provide for their families. Crime is rampant. Drugs are everywhere. The politicians are crooked. Spanish is technically our second language, if you have no understanding of it, you are lost. There is a very uneven distribution of wealth. There are laws for everything, you could be breaking the law and not even know it. There are homeless and transients everywhere. Feel free to add to this list of pros and cons, I could go on and on for days.

Who is the leader of California?

This is a question in this packet I have for school. Who is the head of California? Like the president of the United States is Obama; and the Mayor of Sacramento is Kevin Johnson; who is the "leader" of all of California?

What jobs can a 14 year old get that lives in California?

You can :

1) Be a sign spinner..........very popular now-a-days.

2) Be a referee for youth soccer games. No joke and it pays decent. It will not take away from your school work and it gives you something to do on weekend days. Look into your local youth soccer league because they are always hard up for refs. My son just finished the two day training, which was free of charge. Soccer season starts in a few weeks so don't put it off.

Global Leadership Adventures trip?

I'd like to go on one of these to Costa Rica... has anyone been on one of these trips? I'm wondering if it's a scam. I can't find a single bad thing about it. Anywhere. Everyone on Facebook posts these amazing things about it.

If you have been on one, I have a few questions:

Do you have any free time, like to hang out with other kids?

If a 15 year old were to go, would they stick out really badly or not be included in the cliques that would form?

How did you come up with the money?

How did you convince your parents?

Community service or volunteer work for teens?

I would recommend that you contact your local volunteer center. They can provide all sorts of one-time or short-term volunteer activities that match your interest and meet real community needs as well.

Through my volunteer center, I tutor children at the local library, lead a group of teens to enhance visitor experience at the local natural history museum, package food at the local food bank, and a lot of other diverse projects. My volunteer center offers a youth volunteer leadership program in which our teen volunteers coordinate community-wide volunteer activities several times a year. They participate in a curriculum from the Points of Light Foundation.

Check out your local volunteer center through the following links:

I started out as a hospital volunteer as a teen, so here's a link to help you find your local hospital:

The other option is to try the local chapter of the United Way. They also specialize in volunteer placement:

The volunteer time that you perform can be applied to a variety of things, for school and other activities. If you are looking for a specific type of job, or are interested in applying for other opportunities in the future, such as the Peace Corps, volunteer activity can count toward those applications as well.

Good luck!

Rein Teen tours? any good?

Hopeful -

Rein Teen Tours are amazing. I actually met with their director (Norman) last month and he is a super nice guy. He's been running Rein Teen Tours since 1985 and each tour is carefully planned to run at a leisurely pace, allowing travelers to enjoy everything they see and do.

On the road you'd travel by deluxe motor coach and stay in centrally located hotels, campgrounds, and/or dorms. Highly experienced trip leaders make sure that travelers, many of whom come by themselves, are comfortable within their group by the end of the first day.

There are several different teen tours companies out there but Rein is certainly one of the best. Check out the links below. They do a nice job of breaking down each trip so you can research/compare them easily:

Hope that helps! Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
