Where Is The Best Place To Live In Missisauga For Family

Where is the best area to live in Mississauga?

This depends on whether you use public transportation frequently, whether you want to live in a bought/rented house, condo, or apartment.Like most people have stated already in the answer section, if you know that you will use public transportation frequently, ‘downtown Mississauga’ aka the Square One area is your safest bet. Keep in mind that Mississauga is really good to live in if you have a car. Uni kids such as myself get screwed over by the public transportation in this city at least a couple of times a month Sigh. Now the are plenty of amazing places to live in Mississauga because most of the city is clean and is also well planned (this is sadly slowly changing). If you are planning on moving into an apartment- Square One, Applewood, Erin Mills, Lakeshore, typically have nice apartments and condominiums. Out of the four I highly recommend Square One and Applewood if you’re an everyday Joe.Now comes to areas. Hurontario and Eglinton- everything is convenient, public transportation shelters everywhere- buses from all directions come very frequently, grocery stores, fast food joints, dog park, plenty of dine-in restaurants, walk-in clinics, pharmacies. The Square One shopping mall is 3–5 min away by car, 10–15 minutes away by walking.Streetsville- If you like calm, less noisy, less populated areasMost people will choose to share a place where they grew up, loved, etc. I on the other hand did not do this but had many friends who grew up here so I like the area because of the community centre, closeness to everything and plus people are friendly here (neighbourhood barbecues were common in this area, I’m pretty sure that doesn’t happen anymore). The Valleys- Nice, close to downtown Sauga, middle class neighbourhood. I would branch Rathwood, Applewood and Dixie together- still got that old charm.I pretty much think that most neighbourhoods are good areas to live in.

What is the cost of living in Mississauga for a family of 4?

There are several factors at play such as when and where you rent/own a home and what type of home (condo/townhouse), and even whether you have employer health insurance. For a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children), who recently bought a condo (2BR+Den) in downtown Mississauga, with one car, employed with employer health insurance, got the basics such as tv service, DSL, phone, cellphone etc… I would say that 70k–75k CAD annually is break even. For a townhouse/semi detached/detached house, this will be higher. If a home was bought prior to the real estate hike in prices, just a few years ago before 2017, the cost of living would be much less today because of much lower mortgage payments, maybe around 60k-65k for a condo owner, but that is history now.All these estimates again are based on average Mississauga downtown condo living, and going a further distance away from downtown might save a little but not much.

Which is the best and safe area to live in Mississauga as a new immigrant in a family with 2 small kids with respect to transport in Toronto with a car, better and cheaper housing, groceries, good preschools, and all other basic amenities?

This is one of those quora magic unicorn questions that we see daily.“Where is the best place to live in ________ that is safe, affordable, great, inexpensive, easy to get too, but costs little. Oh, and it has to have good schools.”Of course there is no such place. Not surprisingly, the best places are the most desirable and thus become the most expensive. Life is about balancing these competing forces. That can only be done with specifics—how old are the kids (“small” can mean infants, or elementary school-aged) what are your child care needs (2 career family means needing daycare nearby, one stay-at-home parent alleviates that pressure), what’s your budget, how often do you see yourself going to Toronto (daily commute for work vs weekly visit with the in-laws?), do you seek your “forever home” or an apartment for a bit while you get settled, etc.

What are the safest/best neighbourhoods to live in Mississauga?

Avoid the area immediately around Meadowvale Town Centre including Glen Erin/Britannia complexes, Creditview and Bristol. Definitely avoid Hurontario/Dundas and surrounding apartments. Stay away from bad areas around South Common as well as Dixie Outlet Mall.

Which is better to live in, Oakville or Mississauga?

We lived in South East Oakville near the Oakville-Mississauga border for 16 years.South East Oakville and South West Mississauga have very few differences. Both are very suburban, have very high rents and house prices and very good Go Train service from Clarkson and Oakville stations. Driving is a must in both, one car per person preferably. Bus service in Oakville has improved greatly in the last 5 years, Mayor Burton has worked hard to repair the decades of transit neglect under the last administration. There is very little to do in either unless you want to drive or take the train to the city. Toronto is 25 minutes on the train which stops within waking distance of most attractions. Where we lived the only attractions within walking distance were the lake and a couple of nice parks.Overall, if you want a bit more action and good transit, chose a city. We now live near downtown London Ontario, we’ve met more people and done more in 2 years than we did in 16 years in Oakville. And London just got a really good Indian restaurant, which was one of the things we missed from the GTA.

Best value place to live ?

Mimico or Long Branch (in Etocicoke) Rent is dirt cheap you are close to the lake, however it is a very dirty part of town.

I enjoy where I am now in Little Italy, it is a wonderfully eclectic neighborhood with a tonne of shops and a very friendly. Roncessvalle is very nice, close to high park.

For a a family I would recommend more along the lines of the bloor west village, high park or south kingsways, rents can get a little pricey, however they are safe, quiet clean neighbourhood.
Good school, plenty of parks, and close to the TTC.

Avoid St. Jamestown (or anything within about 10 blocks of st. james av.)

Avoid most of Parkdale.

Avoid all of Rexdale

Avoid anything remotely close to Jane and finch. Actually avoid anything along finch.

Avoid Jamison Ave.

Avoid parliament street.

Go to www.viewit.ca It will give you an idea of what to expect for rent by neighbourhood.

If you go outside the city i personally recommend Port Credit (a borough of Mississauga) It is very family friendly with a tonne of festivals several schools (even a private school) it is clean and pretty. Did I mention there are tonnes of parks?. It is a 20 minute train ride into the heart of down town and rents is very reasonable.

As a new immigrant, is Mississauga a good place to live in?

Depends on how you define ‘good’. Mississauga is undoubtedly one of the top destinations for new immigrants to the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). If you’re looking for proximity to high-quality schools, shopping malls, major highways (401, 403, QEW), downtown Toronto (20 mins away in minimal traffic), parks, widespread transit infrastructure (GO, MiWay, TTC), certain pockets of Mississauga should certainly be included in your shortlist. Keep in mind though, relative to some other suburban neighborhoods in the GTA (i.e. Scarborough, Milton, Brampton), real estate in Mississauga is fairly expensive. Other places worth considering are Milton, Burlington, Whitby, and Halton Hills.

Vancouver vs. Mississauga?

When she grows up, my cousin sister wants to live in Vancouver. And when I think about it, Vancouver's actually a pretty nice place! Anyways, my family lives on rent, so we aren't going to have to leave a house over here in Mississauga...

How is living in Milton, ON compared to Mississauga or Brampton? I’m immigrating to Canada and looking for a place to rent for a family with a toddler.

I actually live in Milton on a new subdivision by Britannia Road in the South West corner of Milton. We moved here from Toronto/Mississauga a year ago. I travel all over the GTA and Milton is my base and I can tell you its a nightmare place to live if you plan on working anywhere East.Milton is the fastest growing city in Canada. But its not the greatest place to live right now though, new sub divisions are being built all over the place, and they are not improving any of the infrastructure like the roads to cope with all the extra traffic. 75% of all commuters are going East in the morning, which creates terrible traffic and congestion trying to leave Milton in the morning. Just in the year I’ve lived here, I’ve watched my commute time go up nearly 20 minutes, and I’ve noticed how the traffic is backing up further and further and further every month. It will be many years before Milton is a good place to live and work due to the overwhelmed infrastructure. There is only one true road out of Milton East which is two lanes and that is Derry Road besides the 401 which is a parking lot in the morning, Steeles is the other discounted two lane road as it only really connects to Brampton. Its a commuter town at heart and thats what you get.Considering the rent in Milton is now the same as Mississauga, and Brampton is even cheaper I would move back to Mississauga. Mississauga has really nice areas like Streetsville and along the Credit Valley, your close to everything in Mississauga and well connected, they also have good public transit. Brampton is not a great place to live in my opinion, lots of crime and racial tensions rising. Auto Insurance is sky high there due to high crime and insurance fraud.Hope this helps.
