Where Should I Apply Perfume

Where should we apply / spray perfume on?

Things You’ll Need:

Moisturizer
Perfume

Step 1:
Moisturize your skin before you apply perfume to help the scent last longer.

Step 2:
Apply perfume to bare skin—do not apply to clothing.

Step 3:
Spray or dab a little perfume on each of your pulse points—your wrists, between breasts, behind the knees, behind the ears and in the bends of the elbows.

Step 4:
Spray a little perfume in freshly washed hair.

Step 5:
Be careful not to over-apply your perfume. Check with a family member or trusted friend if you can't tell whether you've overdone it.

Tips and Warnings
Spraying perfume on the backs of your knees allows the scent to linger longer.
Don’t rub your wrists together after you have applied perfume—it breaks down the scent.

-Buying a more expensive perfume is usually worth the money. They hold their molecular properties longer and hold their smell longer. Cheap perfume breaks down quite quickly, molecularly, and the smell goes bad--just the opposite of the reason you bought it. A perfect case of you get what you pay for, generally.

Where should you apply your perfume and why?

The location of perfume placement depends on the intended effect. If you want a subtle effect, use pulse points (behind ears and knees and on wrists). Also, you can spray your lower back if you want to leave a trail behind but not announce your arrival. This type of localized application will allow only those within a few feet of you to notice your scent. If you want to make more of an impression and create a longer trail (the French word sillage is commonly used here), then spray a cloud, and walk through it. Or spray into your hair, or on a scarf or your clothes. You will have to apply a little more often, since the molecules are spread further apart during the application and their half-life will be a little shorter.I suggest the second approach only when you will be outside or if you are going out on the town.

What is the correct way to apply perfume?

Thanks for the A2A, Carlos. I really appreciate it.Now, contrary to common belief you shouldn’t spray your perfume on your “pulse points”. It’s an antiquated tradition that is mostly ineffective and I’ll tell you why (I’ve done a lot of research on this topic over the years). There are technically 2 right ways to apply your perfume. Keep in mind that your primary goal is to smell nice for as long as possible. You won’t be able to achieve that if you spray your perfume onto your naked skin. You would have to either buy a bottle of odorless body lotion and mix it up with some of your fragrance (if you do this you will have to figure out the right amount by yourself, it’s a trial and error situation). Most of these body lotions and moisturizers will increase the longevity of the scent by a great amount. Or, the other method (which is my preferred method) is to just apply your perfume to your hair and your clothes. Some people might be shaking their heads by now but I know what I’m talking about. Our hair and textiles are capable of sustaining the scent far better than our oily skin is. In terms of strategical placement of your sprays (this greatly depends on the strength of the perfume, some are more cloying than others: gourmand fragrances should be applied sparingly); I always apply the fragrance on the back of my head because that way I always leave a scent trail (sillage), I also apply the fragrance on both shoulders (onto whatever shirt or jacket I’m wearing), the reasoning here is pretty simple: your shoulders are the farthest away from your body so you’re basically maximizing the range of your scent trail that way. Whenever you walk by someone or turn around they’ll notice you. And in extreme situations (when you really want to be “noticed” by everybody) I also spray the back pit of the knee (or more specifically the area of the pants that covers it). Children and seated individuals will be able to take a better whiff of your perfume that way. I call it the “full osmic assault” because you cover all heights that way.I hope my answer was useful.Have a nice day.

How do I apply perfume for men?

There’s no one way to do this - it all depends on the perfume, it’s concentration, the climate, and your own body chemistry. Ultimately, you’ll have to experiment and find out what’s best for you.In warmer climates, colognes/perfumes will evaporate faster, so you might be dissatisfied with lower concentrations (e.g. an EDT). In that situation, you might prefer to use an oil (parfum), which will evaporate slower and therefore last a lot longer. Most people apply perfume to the “pulse points” on the body (the neck and wrists). I’ve also read about people spraying the inside of the elbow, as that area is not as exposed. If you’re going to be sitting down for an extended period (say for a dinner or if you’re at the office), you might consider spraying behind the knee as well. Of course, if you’re at a dinner, the main thing to notice should be the food or the company, not the perfume, and so subtlety is key.Applying perfume to clothing generally makes it evaporate slower, since it is not constantly on the warm surface of the skin. These are all the variables you can play around with while applying cologne. Have fun, experiment, and see what works best for you!

What is the reason for applying perfume on the wrist and the back of the neck?

When I was in my initial training days in IT industry , my bizz skill faculty told me about "Pulse Points".Pulse points are the points on body from which the heat from the body evolves. This is due to fact that the pulse is being close to skin at such points .Your neck and wrist are one of the "Pulse points" . These points help your skin retain the fragnance . So when we spray perfume there , the pulse points heats up and makes perfume last longer. Thus your skin retains the sweet smell in that area.

Can deodorant and perfume be applied directly to the skin?

Yes both deodorants and perfumes can be directly applied on the skin.Deodorants usually have properties to mask body odour and/or anti-perspirant action. Hence to be sprayed on the body.Perfumes work very well on the skin, especially if applied on the pulse points like the wrists, neck, inside of elbow, etc. It can also be sprayed on clothes. However ensure the perfume you use is of good quality on skin. Maybe you could test it first. Certain products which use the terminology, 'hanky perfume' use methyl alcohol which is carcinogenic in nature and should not be used on the skin.
