Where can i buy jewels in chennai?
Hi, I am planning to buy 20 soverign jewels. So i enquired in many jewellery shops in chennai. Lalitha jewellery said they will provide jewels without any making charge and wastage charges. Saravana Stores Thanganagai Maligai said always Rs.40 less than the market price. So i thought of buying in Lalitha Jewellery, but few of my friends said Lalitha Jewellery gold is not good. So i am totally confused about buying jewels. Can anyone help me out, where can i buy good gold jewels in chennai with resonable making and wastage charges?

Do not buy gold at Saravna Stores or any other small or new shop. You will get only 16 to 18 Ct. gold. If you want you have to go to good shops like Tanishq, Khazana etc. where you can ask them to verify the jewelery you bought in the Computerized analyzer. Secondly why do you want to buy gold. It is a dead investment. You will not be able to sell it at any time at any shop for cash. You can only get exchange of ornaments and in each transaction you loose about 40% of your worth in old gold, making charges, wastage etc. You will get cash (that too 50% only) from Pawn brokers. I am writting this out of experience. Please be careful.

Well, if you aren't looking for big names. I would suggest you try, Chickpet on avenue road.No big names, but shops that have been there since a long time. My mom and aunt, buy gold in a very small shop.Their making charge is a standard fix percent and wastage charge is fixed as well.To be sure of the quality, we always buy the jewellery with the hallmark. Although, their gold is always good, you don't actually need to get a hallmark on their products but we opt for it for an extra fee of 100 rupees. Whatever jewellery you decide to buy from the shop can be hallmarked, but will require one additional day for hallmarking (at a different, govt. authorised place) , before you can take the jewellery with you.The first time we bought something from there it was 8 years back. The shine is still there. The metallic gold lustre is still intact. My aunt recommended it to my mom, and then we have been there to buy gold 5-6 times. Also, it should be noted that, we had moved to Bangalore few years ago and one of our neighbours suggested this place. As a non-Bengalurean we felt completely at ease there, and felt the transaction was fair and all the charges were transparent and upfront.And the important part is you get to talk to the owner (they are in the business from generations) directly instead of some staff who is on a job.
