Where To Find A Good Therapist In Philadelphia

Are there any counselors in Philadelphia who accept my insurance or have affordable rates?

I’m in PA - here’s what I know:Sadly, the lists provided by insurance companies are often out-dated or the therapists listed aren’t accepting new clients. Council for Relationships has offices in Philadelphia as well as the suburbs. Though they don’t take insurance, their student interns are very well supervised and provide therapy at reduced costs. You may want to search the online Psychology Today directory. Start by narrowing the list down to your zip-code. Each therapist lists their specialties and which (if any) insurance they take. Other options include large group practices such as Springfield Psychological or Delaware County Professional Services - both groups have multiple sites, including in/near the city, and generally accept Keystone.Good luck!

Who makes more money? A RN or a physical therapist?

Using the base salaries for a physical therapist, and a registered nurse working in a traditional RN position, the physical therapist would usually make more in most markets.

When comparing salaries, you don't consider whether an RN makes time and a half for the overtime hours. Yes, if a person works two jobs they will make more than a person who works one, and a person who works extra shifts will make more than a person who doesn't.

But comparing two people working a 40 hour week the PT makes more in the majority of cases than the RN. However, over 50% of the nursing schools in the US which prepare students for the RN exam are associate degree programs, and most PTs in the US have a masters or a doctorate degree.

In this area the difference in the average salary for an RN with an associate degree and a PT with a masters degree is less than $4,000 per year. The education for the PT was 4 years longer in much more expensive schools in most cases.

Also consider that the average PT with a masters or doctorate makes significantly less than an advanced practice RN working as a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist who also has a masters or doctorate degree. The difference is that the NP or CRNA usually makes from $18,000 to over $100,000 per year more depending on the specialty.

How much do massage therapists make in commission?

What a interesting conversation this is! I worked in Texas as a new therapist, and I worked commission only for massages and spa services, starting at 35% and going up to 55% plus tips, we charged around $75 a service. I opened my own business and I charge $60 hourly.

Apparently this is not always the norm, I knew other therapists who worked at Massage envy, Spa D'sante and Massage Heights who only made $12-$15 hourly + tips.

The biggest compromise is the life you want to lead. I prefer to get paid more, work less, and use my spare time to learn more about massage!

Just be confident in your abilities and ask for more than you think you will get. I always got the job after a massage demo!

GOOD LUCK!

Psychotherapy: Who some good psychotherapists or clinical social workers on the Main Line near Philadelphia?

Andrea Solomon, Ph.D. was a classmate of mine at the University of Pennsylvania and now has a private psychotherapy practice in Bryn Mawr, PA. I think the world of her. Her office address is: 817 Summit Grove Avenue Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. Her office phone number is: (610) 527-2210. By way of context-setting, Bryn Mawr is on the "Main Line," which includes all the towns lying alongside the route of the R5 Paoli Local commuter train. The R5 was - at one time - the "main" local rail line to the tonier Philadelphia suburbs. That's why they call that particular area the Main Line. As I recall, there are at least 8 such train lines running through the city and out to various suburbs.

How can I most quickly find a psychologist in my area who graduated from a specific university?

As with most queries, use Google. If a psychologist is practicing, he or she will have a website, or be listed on a clinic website or perhaps on another site like Linked In. Their professional resume will list the school they attended, so you could construct a Google search for "psychologist Harvard Philadelphia" that should pick up any psychologists who have had contact with Harvard and Philadelphia, assuming your area is Philadelphia. A second option, since psychologists are typically licensed by the jurisdiction they are in is to check the professional association's website to see if there are members who graduated from a specific university in your area. Chances are even that the association's website will not allow you to do such a search, but if you call them, they might have the ability to do a search for you. Good luck in your search!

What are the functions of cupping therapy?

The act of perfoming cupping therapy ( Hijama) is a Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad صل الله عليه و سلم.The practice of cupping therapy forms an integral part of Islamic Prophetic Medicine.Cupping therapy is a safe, non-invasive and economical way of curing and preventing many diseases. Though Chinese use of this method was limited to certain medical complications like lungs infection, colds, to treat internal organs disorders, joint pain, etc,But the scope of cupping therapy (hijama) benefits is much higher than this limit. Modern medical science also endorses the various benefits of cupping therapy and even encourages its practice in certain diseases. It is a non-surgical procedure to remove toxic or ‘bad’ blood out from the body. Certain points on the body are addressed to do so. On such selected points, blood is encouraged to accumulate and then sucked out by using a little vacuum system.Firstly we apply a moderate amount of oil to the relevant area. We begin every treatment by applying a cup - or several cups - to the appropriate points using a moderate suction. These cups will remain in place for several minutes. The blood is made to accumulate on the surface of the skin where minute incisions are introduced on the skin; the blood comes out from the incisions and is collected in a cup from where it is removed. The cups are finally removed and the area cleaned. Your treatment is complete.Importance of cupping therapy under Islamic guidance“Indeed in hijama (cupping therapy) there is a cure”. – Saheeh Muslim.“Indeed, the best of remedies you have is hijama (cupping therapy)”. – Saheeh Al Bukhari.“Hijama is the most helpful procedure for human beings to cure themselves”.– Saheeh Al Bukhari and Saheel Muslim.
