Where To Work In Victoria Australia

Where can I get id to prove that I'm 18 (Victoria, Australia)?

Today I went to buy alcohol from the bottleshop. I turned 18 a few weeks ago but the only id I have is my student id card. I'm still a learner driver and I lost my learner card which means I can't use that as proof of age.
So I showed the guy my student id card and he told me that it isn't valid id. This is stupid. The card had my date of birth, photo, signature and school on it. How is it not acceptable id?

So basically I'm 18 but I can't do anything because the idiots who run this country won't accept my id. What can I do about it? Where can I get so-called "valid" id? How long will it take to get? What will it cost? What do I have to bring with me to prove that I am who I am?

Best Law School In Victoria, Australia?

Hey mate,

That's a tough question. I am not aware that we in Oz have law school rankings. Their rankings seem to be linked to the reputation of the university itself.

What makes a good law school, I wonder? Is it how well students are taught the law and succeed in their careers? Is it how many are going into the big law firms after graduation?

A niece of mine went to UQ (University of Queensland) law and was so appalled by the boring delivery that she left. UQ is a top university along the same rank as Melbourne Uni.

I am attending (online) Charles Darwin Uni law, and while this university might be quite low ranked, the lecturers vary from brilliant to appalling, just like in the best of the universities.

If in doubt, go for Melbourne or Monash uni. Pity you can't attend ANU, I'd go there in a blink but I can't leave my current employer. The main reason for ANU is its reputation overall, but its law school? I have heard of a friend who did their GDLP through ANU and he said it was the worst experience he's had in his law studies. So, there you have it.

Is Nitros Oxide Legal In Victoria (Australia)?

No. Lol.

I'm in year 10 right now in Australia, VIC. Can I fail? Please help.?

It is not too late to make an effort now and improve your grades. I would suggest that you talk to the counsellor/year advisor at your school. They will be happy to see that you are wanting to improve your grades and are paid to help you in that. No worthwhile teacher would say that your won't be successful in life and you sound like an intelligent, articulate person.

Before you start reducing your options by looking at 'dropping out and going to Tafe' I would strongly recommend that you look at the Tafe choices available and make sure there is something there that you would love (and not just settle for). Year 10 won't equip you for many decent jobs and you would be wise to look at what the Tafe wants for entry to the courses you like, as some of the good ones are very popular and more difficult to gain entry to.

Don't rip yourself off and reduce your future choices by 'just passing' Year 10. Find a dream and work towards it.

How does the weather work in Melbourne, Australia? How can it fluctuate from so cold to so hot and back so quickly, and why?

From: What is the climate like in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia?Much is made about Melbourne's variable weather and its "four seasons in one day". In fact, for much of the year, and especially winter, temperatures are quite stable. In July of this year, the daily maxima ranged between 10 and 17 deg C. During summer, the pattern changes to one of gradual daily increase over around one week (say 21; 24; 28; 30; 33; 36; 40) the end of the cycle comes with the approach of the next low pressure front. On that day, the humidity starts to rise, the wind turns around from a northerly to a southerly, we have a short thunderstorm (maybe one hour) and then the temperature drops, sometimes by as much as 20 deg C, over a matter of a few hours. For a visitor, this can come as a surprise, if not a shock.Weather: From 40-plus degrees to chance of snowFor Melburnians, whose typical summertime weather observation is "when's the change coming", this is not only quite predictable (not only by the weather reports who normally pick the change to within an hour or two, but also by the casual observer who can generally pick up the signs of a change 10 hours ahead) but also considered a very desirable feature of our weather. Although we get quite high maxima in the summer, the extreme high temperatures only last a couple of days and, when the change comes, it is easy to open the doors and windows and quickly cool down your house. So it is not the disaster that many will tell you and, in the opinion of many in this city, far preferable to the extended run of days over 35 deg C experienced, for example, in Perth.Read this for a detailed analysis. How do ‘demerit points’ work with your driver's license in Victoria, Australia?

With the disclaimer that I’m in Queensland, so the subtleties of differences may escape me, the system is roughly this:You start with 0 points. If you do the wrong thing behind the wheel, you accumulate demerit points (these can be in addition to fines, or separate). On a full licence - as against an L or P plate - if you accumulate 12 points or more in any 3-year period, you lose your licence. If this happens, you get a letter saying that your licence is invalid for three months plus an extra month for every 4 “extra” points. So if you’re sitting on (say) 11 points, and then rack up an extra 5 points, you’re on 16 points. That means you lose your licence for 4 months - three months for the 12 points, and a further month for the extra 4.If you do nothing on receipt of that letter, your licence is automatically suspended for that period of time from the date the letter will have on it. Don’t drive during that time, since it’s a much worse outcome. You can, if you want to, extend your demerit point period. That means that your licence isn’t suspended, but if you accumulate any points in the next 12 months, your licence is suspended for double the period it was originally going to be. So our hypothetical driver who was going to lose their licence for 4 months would then lose it for 8 months if they didn’t change their behaviour.Once you’ve either done your extended period or had your suspension end, any of the points relevant to that are cleared.Importantly, the points can accumulate anywhere in the country, and a suspension of your licence is nation-wide, too. So if you were on holiday in New South Wales and drove like a maniac, you’d still accumulate points. Likewise, you can’t get your licence suspended and then hop over to South Australia where you can drive again.
