Where Would You Rather Work

Would You Rather Work.........?

I'd rather work 2nd shift if only because then I have at least *some* potential to be up and around in the daytime to *do things* seeing as how I can't exactly pay bills and run all of my errands at 3 a.m. and the like...

But 3rd shift has its merits, as has been mentioned. Hardly anyone bothers you. You can chill and still get paid, just so long as the job is done.

Yeah....saying this as someone who basically *can't* be up early in the mornings. Really. Last full time job I had I needed to make an ADA request (courtesy of my mood disorder) to *get* some flex-time and show up at 10 a.m., when my brain was actually *on* and coherent. For real. I've even had sleep studies done on me, I *don't* go into REM (dream) sleep until after dawn, so early mornings are kinda critical for me in terms of sleeping and keeping *some* mental function....

Pity nobody else on the planet gets this.

Would you rather go to school or work?

Work

Would you rather work in the day or at night?

I have worked night shift for the past 6 years and before that was working mostly day shifts (some occasional evening shifts). Day shift is definitely better than working night shift. The only good thing about working night shift is that sometimes you can adjust your sleeping schedule if you have to do something during the day (for example, I had to go to my son’s soccer game on a Saturday morning, so I stayed up later after working a night shift, then went to sleep so I could be with him at the game). Also, many times night shifts are scheduled as 7 on, 7 off (or 8 on, 6 off, etc), so you can have a fixed schedule. Otherwise, night shift will drain you both physically and mentally.Anyone who tells you that night shift is pleasant and nice is definitely lying.

Would you rather work a 12 hour shift than an 8 hour shift?

Infinitely yes. Especially if it meant a shorter week.It has been advocated many, many times that 3 days on, 4 days off or 4 days on, 3 days off is vastly superior to working 5 days.Three 12 hour days or four 10 hour days are heavenly. You get an entire extra day, or even two days to recover and get things done. Imagine how incredibly productive we’d all be as a society with double the free time?Studies tend to be undecided but that’s not a surprise. There’s not a huge difference as long as you’re working the same amount of hours per week.8-Hour vs. 12-Hour Shift Schedules“Several studies attributed the popularity of 12s as improving staff morale and reducing absenteeism.”This makes sense to my previous point. If I was offered two equivocal jobs; one with five 8 hour shifts, and one with three 12 hour shifts, I would take the latter in a half an instant. The Shift Length ExperimentAnother study on cops.“The results showed that compared to 8-hour shifts, 10-hour shifts resulted in significantly more sleep by officers (approximately 30 minutes more per 24-hour period), significantly reduced overtime, and increased quality of work life”It just makes sense. You barely would notice a 2 hour jump, but you’d gain an entire day off! Now 12 is a bit more. 50% increase to a work day is tough but you gain two days off.I’ve worked 12 hour days. They can suck. But having a 3 day work week is magical.

Would you rather work the rest of your life or go to school for the rest of your life?

I would rather go to high school for the rest of my life. Why? Because learning is fun. Many disagree but learning can teach me so many things. Learning teaches me:How to have funHow to communicate with others in different methods (Psychology would be really fun)How to work (I’m allowed to take different courses! My school even has a world of work course, allowing me to go into the work field as an intern! I’ll be the highest qualified one)I get an entire summer holiday, christmas and CNY off every year! That’s the biggest benefit! (NO JOB GETS SO MUCH TIME OFF)I get to hang out with friends.I get to do community service.I get paid to do something I love!

Would you rather work for a male or female boss?

Males boss, they have a better attitude then the females bosses do.
Been around too many females bosses it's pitiful!

Would you rather work at Sonic or KFC and Why?

I am currently working at Sonic and they pay 4.25 an hour. Tips are not guaranteed everyday if their slow. Plus I’m in school and where I live sonic closes at 12am and KFC closes at 10pm which is a big difference for me. I have an interview soon with KFC and if was offered the job I would like to know other people’s stand point with working at KCF and the benefits.
