Wheres The Best Place In California For Ballet

What is the best place to live in California in your twenties? Why?

A big city which means;San Diego, LA or San Francisco(San Jose has a large population but is a horribly boring place. The sprawl of LA with none of the excitement)To choose from amongst these three you'll need to visit all three, decide what place offers the best work opportunity and which one you prefer. Also read up on all three. You'll probably need a car in San Diego and LA but most likely not need one in SF.A brief ditty on each;San Diego; Laid back, less intense, great beach culture, and a world famous zoo. Easy access to fun and games in Mexico. Kinda ok for pedestriansModerately expensiveLA; A megalopolis! Many living options from culturally intense city life to bohemian beach / surf lifestyle. Culturally and economically incredibly diverse. MOVIE STARS! Disneyland and pretty people everywhere. Horrible traffic and even more horrible traffic. Horrible for pedestrians.Pretty darn expensiveSF; The grande dame of the three. Cosmopolitan with loads of history and culture. By far the most beautiful, great parks and nearby recreational opportunities. CABLE CARS! Nearby is the Wine Country and Monterey. SF is the north end of the technology center of the universe. (The south end being San Jose, a place to avoid if at all possible) A liberal bastion of the US and the world. Gay, straight, etc…it just doesn't matter. Much better public transport than LA or San Diego. No car necessary. Great for pedestrians.Ridiculously expensiveWhy these three cities?Diverse (You're young and a diverse place is better than a boring place.)Great nightlife (important for most young people)Great food.Cultural diversityMuseums, Art, Opera, Ballet, Jazz etc. (LA and SF trumps San Diego but all three are great)Liberal politics (well socially if not always from an economic perspective. SF trumps LA and San Diego on this point)

Where is the best place you have ever lived in the USA?

ALASKA! You can talk about any other state in this union. None of them compare … even come close in comparison to the rugged beauty of Alaska. I lived in Anchorage for three years. You are surrounded by jagged mountains. You have moose walking through your yard. In winter, there is a fog that rolls in at night. The droplets are frozen and when the street lights hit them, it looks like shards of glass floating through the air. Sleeping Lady, which is a mountain who lays behind Cooks Sound is an incredible sight to see. It isn’t difficult to see why she is called Sleeping Lady. That is what it looks like. When you take the highway through the state, you are literally driving along carved mountain sides. Denali State Park puts you smack dab in the middle of God’s country. You can’t help but to feel so free. The vastness there is … well, you have to go experience it. I can’t put it into words. And the Aurora Borealis - Northern Lights- the most graceful ballet of light on a cold winter’s night anyone will ever experience. And let us not forget the 24 hours of light in the month of June. Who needs to sleep? You forget about time when you have nothing darker than a twilight and them the sun is up at 10 PM. If memory serves. The sun is high and bright. All this adds up the the near indescribably beauty of Alaska. I would recommend going there in June (King Salmon fishing is in June). Average weight of a King is 65 pounds. If you’re interested in fishing. But you got to spend a week in February. Just to photograph the Northern Lights. You will never forget Alaska once you see her.

In Venice, California, where did the clown above the building on Rose and main street come from?

“Ballerina Clown” is a sculpture by Jonathan Borofsky in 1988. There's an electric motor that once made the right leg execute a slow kick, but it no longer kicks. CVS should plug that bad boy back in. From Borofsky's website: The Venice Boardwalk is full of all kinds of people in all sorts of outfits and the atmosphere is very festive with many live street performances taking place, especially on weekends. This sculpture is an accommodation or resolution of opposites in one. Not only does this image bring the male and female together into one figure, but also, two opposite types of performers are represented: the formal classical ballet dancer and the traditional street performer. Of course, this public sculpture might push the envelope in 'taste', but if you have ever walked the Venice Boardwalk on a Sunday afternoon, you might understand why this figure is right at home.

What are the best places to propose marriage in NYC?

This is a question that is very close to my heart. Below you can find a short list of recommended places, but here’s my story… I actually proposed in NYC several years ago. It was in the fall right after Thanksgiving. The holiday season is especially magical in Manhattan. I created a special day going to places throughout the city. We went to Bryant Park (amazing Christmas shops and skating rink, but special year around), we walked through Central Park, ate at a place called Mariebelle Chocolate which had a place on the Upper East Side at the time, we went to see the Nutcracker at the New York Ballet in Lincoln Center, and we stopped at other places throughout Midtown Manhattan. Basically I made the entire day special. So where did I actually propose? At dinner time we ate at a well known historic location in the city called the 21 Club, but we didn’t eat in their main dinning room. We ate in one of their other rooms called ‘Upstairs at 21’. It was there that I proposed. It had been planned for months and was incredibly special.By making the entire day special, we created places throughout the city that now are fond memories and we love to go back to visit. Make the day about creating a day to remember and celebrate. Now for the list of 10 possible best places (in my opinion) to propose in NYC.21 Club (Manhattan Restaurant and NYC Event Venues) I had to start there. It’s special to me and might be perfect for you.The Met Museum (Met Audio Guide Online) There are several places that are awesome in the Museum. Here are a couple of options. Arms and Armor room, the section with Van Gogh paintings, Egyptian Room (the big room)Village Vanguard - Great jazz. Very romantic and intimate.Parks - Central Park, Bryant Park, and for a little less thought about park… Madison Square Park near the Flatiron Building. If you can score a key… Gramercy Park. The park requires a key to enter and it’s really hard to get one…but not impossible.Top of the… Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, Top of the Rock… or for something a little less cliche, setup dinner on a less know rooftop with great views of the city.Hayden PlanetariumSerendipity 3 - If you like sweets or the movie Serendipity. On the Brooklyn Bridge at night looking at the lights of Manhattan.Washington Square Park near the Arch in the park. Most of all, find a place that will be special to the both of you. Here are a few photos from the day I proposed. Congrats and best wishes!
