Which 250cc Crotch Rocket Would Be Cheap And Great To Learn On

How much for a used 250-500cc crotch rocket?

+1 to using the proper term: sport bike.

an EX250 or EX500's price will depend on its age, condition, and mileage.

i've seen both bikes as cheap as $600 in sad shape, and you can pay $4,000+ for the newer 250's.

Realistically, you're going to see a lot of EX250's and 500's from the 1997-2004 era for sale. They'll probably have 3,000-10,000 miles on them, and the asking price should be $1200-$2,800.

and for the record, I wouldn't really consider an EX250 or an EX500 a true sport bike. They're both "sporty standards," with upright seating positions, and decent (but not great) handling. Good bikes to learn on for sure, but to call them a "sport bike" is like calling a fiero a sports car...

What crotch rocket should I buy? ?

You sound like you have some experience.

I would think any of the 600s would be great for you. Any Japanese 600 from the last 10 years would be a great bike for you to get some road skills.

The 250 Ninja is a great bike, but 3 seconds 0-60? That just doesn't sound right. My GSXR1000 has 162HP and it is only a 2.5 second bike. That's roughly 130HP more than that 250.

With the 600s, you are looking at between 150-160 as a top speed. The liter bikes are about 20-25 MPH more than that.

crotch rocket?
rice rocket?
sport bike?

Who cares? Nobody likes a motorcycle snob.

What is a good starter crotch rocket? ?

go with the ninja 250... its perfect to start out with...... it starts @ $3999 so u already have enuff cash on hand.... and its not overly powerfull.. but fun as all hell

Are kawasaki ninja 250 crotch rockets ugly??

Looks are most definitely a matter of personal preference and mostly the reason people ride the motorcycles they ride otherwise everyone might own a 250 Ninja :) Seriously though, the 250 Ninja is a great commuter, flickable canyon carver, and even a capable sport-tourer. It's engine is nearly bulletproof, maintenance is easy, and it gets 55-65mpg even when running all day at 90mph. For a person your size, the 250 is probably the smallest "sport bike" out there making it easier for you to learn on. But don't let it fool you, it's a true motorcycle (definitely not like other 250s) and many seasoned riders love them.

If you want to "pimp" the little Ninja you can easily cut down the rear fender, install flushmount turn signals, a seat cowl, and a double bubble windscreen. Heck even without the mods all the squids will think you're riding a 600 anyway :)

And please take your local Motorcycle Safety course. One study found that over 90% of riders involved in motorcycle accidents were either self-taught of taught by their friends/family. The information you'll learn and the skills you'll practice in the MSF course can save your life and is well worth the relatively small amount of money spent.

What is the Best Crotch Rocket for the money?

If you're in the US, about the only thing you can get under $5000 is the Kawasaki Ninja 250. It has more power than your off road two fifty and will do around 110 mph. They're $2999 new and average 75 mpg. This is the best value for the money. If you're not in california you might be able to get a Hyosung Comet 250. These are great little bikes, at least the engines are. Hyosung used to be Suzuki's engine supplier so they know what they are doing.

If you want something used, I'd still recommend the 250 but that $5000 will get you a little farther. Suzuki GS500 and the Ninja 500 are also excellent values. These have more than enough power for commuting and still get good mileage, around 50 mpg. The SV650 is also a great choice but is a little excessive in the power department and everyone else already has one. They're grossly undervalued because the're so common, used ones going for less than $3000.

Good luck, buy what you like

What kind/size of crotch rocket should i buy?

I'm wanting to buy a crotch rocket for my first motorcycle. I'm only 5' foot, so I'm just wondering what type of bike is good for my size? I want some type of crotch rocket, I'm just curious as to what size and type i should get.

What would my insurance be if I got a crotch rocket?

Go to progressive.com and enter your info it will give you an answer right away, a good base to compare with other insurance companies.  Not all crotch rockets are the same cost. These makes are the things that make insurance higher:- age (the younger you are, the more you pay)- years with motorcycle license (the less the more expensive) and the counter does not start until you get the license no matter how long you own the bike, I learn that myself, the hard way.  (after they look at that then years driving)- sex (males pay more than females)- bike types (sport bikes/crotch rocket is the highest, cruisers among the lowest)- engine size (bigger means more expensive)- type of coverage (anything that includes bodily injury will cost a lot, and obviously the more coverage the more money).- miles to be ridden (the more mile the more you pay)- the type of use (work or business cost more, follow by commute, then pleasure)- how long you live in a place (the more you moved, the more you pay)- if you own a house or not (non-home owners pay more)- if you are married or single (single people pay more)- where you live (I am not positive about this but I think the more dense the place the more you pay).- driving record (the more tickets the more you pay, the more accidents the more you pay)Depending on the above the range is HUGE.  So much that is it pointless to give you a range because would be from less than 100 to several thousand a month.  Depends on a lot of things.  The bike being one of the biggest. But my guess is that you may have to actually pay more for the motorcycle insurance than for car insurance.  Consider getting a sporty looking bike instead (not necessarily always true but usually something without an R in the model).

16 year old looking to buy motorcycle...What would be a good cheap crotch rocket to buy? And why?

First off no crotch rocket...yet..Buy a used cruiser or even a used Ninja 250. It will keep your insurance low but most importantly it will keep you alive. Trust me on this one bro, I just got my motorcycle learners permit. Im 15 3/4. Dont have a bike yet because no one will insure me for any sportbike so I might have to get a cruiser. But I will eventually trade after expirience. Man use your head. Im younger but I studies for more than a year before anything. Dont be another squid out there. Start smaller and then you can get your bike.
