Friday is a Fun day!! Many of us who have 5 working days, always wait for a new release of Bollywood and ready to hit the theatres. This is quite common in young generation especially. So, now the concept of Friday release will be little easy to guess. Right??But, now it is not just Friday, but sometimes on Wednesday and Thursday as well. But let's talk about Friday release, as others are the rare cases. There are three-four genuine reasons behind this and they are:The very first reason is that Friday is followed by a two day weekend, and makes it a perfect time to catch "first-day first show" for many movie lovers. Suitable for late night show as well, because next day is the holiday, and you can relax.The next reason is the religious one. As Friday is considered as an auspicious day of Goddess Lakshmi and considered to be good to start something new. So, this is followed by many directors and movie makers.The first Hollywood movie was released on Friday, and the same was followed in Bollywood as well. And then, one of the first Bollywood movies that got released on Friday was ‘Mughal-E-Azam’ on August 5, 1960.Usually, from early days, Fridays are considered as pay-days where many employees who earn salaries on a weekly basis get their pay on Fridays. So it was quite natural that they will be relaxed and willing to shell out money for a movie outing over the weekend.

Not only Bollywood movies, mostly all movies from India, Bollywood, Kollywood, tollywood, Mollywood get released on Thursdays.Do you know what is the reason in India, most of the movies are released on Friday! Because it financially boost the movie release when it is released in the weekend, ie., Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It's hard for most of the movies to enter the box office collection if not released during the weekend!I guess now you know why the movies are released one day earlier in the middle East! Yeah! The weekend in middle eastern countries start from FRIDAY!

Four reasons —1. The Muslim influence - initially (1940–60) the film industry was heavily influenced by urdu lyricists, story writers, muslim musicians, directors and actors. As Friday would be auspicious for them it was thought as a favourable day.2. Hindu Agreement - The day of Friday is also auspicious to Hindus (day of Goddess Lakshmi who is the goddess of wealth). All producers in Hindi film industry were wealthy north Indian businessmen. They believed Lakshmi mata would appease with monetary success on her day which is Friday.3. Pilot for weekend - Friday is a test run (if to increase shows or advertise more) based on response on that day before weekend begins. Thus a successful go live strategy.4. Banks and money - Earlier producers and distributors would share profit and loss each day so the first day would decide the cash movement. Banks would be open on Fridays to facilititate cash. It would be difficult to do so on Saturday (half day) and Sunday (bank off).
