What is executive/legislative/judicial branch?

executive----president
legislative---senate and house
Judicial----the courts

They all check up on each other.... aka checks and balances.

What is the job of the executive, legislative , and judicial branch?

Executive - The executive is the branch of a government charged with implementing, or executing, the law and running the day-to-day affairs of the government or state.

Legislative - In addition to enacting laws, legislatures usually have exclusive authority to raise taxes and adopt the budget and other money bills. The consent of the legislature is also often required to ratify treaties and declare war.

Judicial - In law, the judiciary or judicature is the system of courts which administer justice in the name of the sovereign or state, and provide a mechanism for the resolution of disputes. Under the doctrine of the separation of powers, the judiciary is the branch of government primarily responsible for interpreting the law.

Which of the three branches of government (executive, legislative, judicial) is the most powerful?

The judicial is the weakest. They can do little more than "interpret" the law. The Legislative and the Executive are SUPPOSED to be equal, but in truth, the Executive is more powerful. The Executive office reserves the right to veto. The Legislative has an out by over riding that veto, but good luck at ever seeing that happen. Now add to that, today's technological advances in weaponry. The President has the right to use military force without gaining permission from Congress. He has the ability to wage war for a full 90 days without having to actually declare war. Bill Clinton used this to go into Bosnia AND into Haiti. How many times can our military destroy the world in 90 days?

The Executive branch holds the most power.

Is the FBI in the legislative,Judicial, or executive branch?

Executive, it is part of the Department of Justice

Out of the three government branches (judicial, legislative, and executive), which is the most useless?

Well, anon, here’s one possible truth:—Most people would like to say it’s the executive branch — since the executive in nearly all countries have demonstrated throughout history to be useless with lots of reckless endangerment of its own and other people. Some like to say it’s the legislative branch — mainly because the legislature are made of lawmakers, a.k.a. politicians — politicians are regarded as nothing except idiots for the reason that they’ve behaved in much the same way throughout history in too many places.Others like to say it must surely be the judicial branch — mainly because they’ve found it to be too complex to understand or work with. For those who have lost their lawsuits, they always say the judicial branch is ‘goddamned’ useless (including their lawyers). So just about all three branches are considered useless for credible reasons — and that kind of paradoxically makes them useful. Otherwise where would the bitching and ranting be directed at?

How can I remember the three branches of the U.S. government (Legislative, Executive, Judicial) and their purpose?

It’s difficult to interpret your question. You obviously had no problem enumerating the three branches of government. Or do you believe there to be more than three or other than the ones you listed? The structure of the U.S. Government is defined by history and codified in the Constitution of the United States and its Amendments. To understand the How and Why of this structure you need to study the history of the American Revolution and the early years of the Republic. Yes, history.Tyler Jensen lists the basic functions of each branch. One important point is that the three are “co-equal.” All must interact to provide effective government. The Executive cannot simply do what it wants. It must “EXECUTE” the laws passed by the LEGISLATIVE branch. Similarly, the Legislature cannot carry out the laws which it passes, it must depend upon the EXECUTIVE branch to do that. The Judicial branch is intended to determine if the various laws created by the Legislative branch conform to the strictures of the Constitution and if the actions of the Executive branch are taking place with that same structure. The Judicial branch can neither make laws (legislate) nor enforce them (executive). It can only determine if the actions of either branch conform to the Constitution.

What is the most powerful, the legislative, executive, or judicial branch of the US government?

The Legislative. The Constitution makes it the arbiter of its own rules and membership, and gives it the power to remove members of the other two branches. The fact that it has the most power is why it is subject to the most frequent elections — the voters are the greatest check on the legislature.

Where the 3 branches of the American Government (Executive, Legislative, Judicial) intended to be equal, or were certain ones intended to have more power originally?

The intent was to have Congress have the most power, the first among equals.Congress has the power to pass legislation, to raise tax money, to do all of the things that governments do. The executive branch merely enforces the laws and the judiciary tries cases and determines how the laws are to be applied.Congress, representing the people and elected thereby (at least the House of Representatives), had the power because it is the people’s power. As time progressed, the judiciary has usurped a great deal of that power. The executive has usurped even more of it, and Congress has not stepped up to the plate and demanded (through the power of the purse, if nothing else) our power back. It’s Congress’s fault that the president is now the chief legislator. It’s Congress’s fault that the Supreme Court dictates what is and is not a constitutional law.As things now stand, the Congress is the least powerful branch of government. And this must be changed.
