Which Degree Is Better In Your Opinion

In your opinion, what would be the best degree(s) to go to school for?

Choosing a career is not like picking out a new car. It’s more like selecting a marriage partner because it’s somthing which will affect you for life for better or worse. There is no simple answer and this is why so many struggle to decide. What is best for me almost certainly is not best for you. What are your interests? What do you see yourself doing for forty or more years? Do you have experiences which help answer these questions? If not, can you gain some experiences or learn from others who are in the fields you think you might like? Which school subjects and activities do you enjoy the most?If you take the ACT, study your World of Work Map results. All occupations are a blend of Data, Ideas, People, Things. For starters, see where you fall on the map. Ask your high school counselor to help you understand what you position on the map says about you and careers which might be a good fit for you. No, the map does not tell you what you should be. Only you can answer what is best for you.

What is your opinion of an online master's degrees in GIS?

Online degree in GIS from a recognized university can definitely help. Given that we can indeed get free data for GIS and remote sensing, and open source tools are available in GIS and remote sensing, you indeed have a good chance to do an online degree in GIS. I am unable to guess whether you would have access to corporate software like ArcGIS, ENVI, ERDAS, etc., if you do an online course. If you do the same degree through regular program in the same university - you may have access to these software and get trained in it, and this improves your chances of getting your resume well built for a GIS job. Indeed open source GIS is much in demand in private consultancies and companies so a PostGIS and QGIS background isnt a harm either. GIS can be done through online course work mainly because it is a set of concepts that you can undersand with applied examples and can practice at your own time with the software. If you have community colleges that has evening programs in GIS that may be more preferable to online course for you - only for the reasons of getting trained in commercial GIS packages. Whether a degree is better than a hands-on practical experience with GIS is a completely different question. A person who has experience can sometimes, perhaps, more reliably do a better job than someone who simply took a course. This logic works only if we stay in a particular region where we gain experience, to move into a better job, where the previous experience is clearly understood and recognized and honored. For others, like immigrants who switch countries and companies, reliability can be ensured through a degree from a institution recognized in that locality. I think your background experience in geology will greatly help in applied thinking while practising GIS tools, since you can relate to geology examples. You are definitely better off than someone who is straight doing the course without any other real world experience related to GIS. So in general the answer is yes, you can go for online GIS graduate certificate or masters degree in GIS from a recognized university in the location of your career search.

I am joining the Air Force but my school counselor advised me to atleast go to community college first and get an AA degree because I'll be able to go in as a higher rank.... The best option for you as a potential entrepreneur and future business leader is to get out there and start working. Choose your pick of professional possibilities – you could rattle up a few friends and get your own business venture off the ground, or you could apply for an internship as an assistant or secretary, and gain business experience that way. From there, you can start thinking about education. What is your opinion on "astrologer's degrees" in a natal chart?

While I was searching for more thoughts on whether astrologers held that some degrees of Leo or Aquarius were considered "astrologer's degrees" I came upon a site that had many opinions on which degrees ruled what.

Of course we have Critical Degree, but I don't mean that. Nor do I mean the place of a Fixed Star.

Years ago I read that the 19th degree of Leo was considered the Astrologer's Degree, but sources on the web seemed to think it was somewhere in the range of 24-27 degrees of Leo, but that 25 degrees was "violent people in prisons and drunks."

What I'm wondering is, how much weight do you give these opinions when you consider your degree placements?

Of course we have heard of "murderer's degrees" "serial killers' degrees" and so forth.

These dire predictions don't seem to agree with the old descriptions of each degree, ruled by each planet; for instance 25 degrees of Leo should be ruled by Venus and should be a symbol of Proportion, better suited to an artist, a refined person, a poet.

What are your thoughts?
